Mike invites Marcie to dinner at the Palace. Marcie accepts. Mike goes to check in at the hospital. Hayes pays a visit to Marcie, telling her that she is contractually bound to his services and can’t fire him. Marcie doesn’t think it’s a coincidence that he brought that to her attention after the book became a success. Roxy comes over to tell Marcie not to worry that she will be ok. Hayes asks what’s going on. Marcie tells him about the copycat murders. Hayes can’t believe it and reminds Marcie that she has a reading at Llanview University. Marcie goes to change. Riley tells Matt not to call Dan his real name, Ted. Matt won’t as they “brother handshake” on it. Dan calls Riley to see if he is ok. Riley says that he is fine. Dan asks if there has been an arrest in Paul’s case. Riley tells him that there hasn’t been. They hang up, Riley runs right into Jen who is at the student union for Marcie’s reading. Riley and Matt leave.

Van tells him that she’s been nominated for Woman of the Year. Ron and Nat come in. John and Nat keep locking eyes, but pretending that they don’t see each other. John thinks it’s great and asks why she didn’t tell him. Van begins to explain but her cell phone rings. Van apologizes but has to leave due to a client being arrested. Mike asks John why he doesn’t just stop fighting his feelings and be with Nat. John gets up and leaves.
