I wonder how Evangeline’s mother can walk without bumping into something and falling on her butt with her nose so far up in the air. Boy, that woman is a piece of work. She was so horrible and rude to Cristian when he showed up wanting to see Evangeline. I thought Cristian held his temper pretty well when Evangeline’s mother was insulting him into the ground and blaming him for Evangeline being in a coma. I thought she was horrible when she told Cristian that she cleaned out Evangeline’s apartment and threw away all the pictures of him. Nice lady! And now Cristian has finally gotten to see Evangeline, which was a good thing because now he can finally try to move on. It was kind of weird when he told her he had met someone and asked her if he should wait for her or move on and she moved her hand away from his. Maybe now he can realize what he could have with Sarah.

I’m not happy with Jessica these days. Now she wants to pretend to be Tess so that Jared will go after her in the hopes of wrecking their marriage. It was stupid to pretend to be Tess when she came on to Nash. After all they’ve been through, with their past with Tess and then Jessica’s terrible illness, she was very foolish to do that to Nash. I think after all he’s been through with her in the past couple of years, he deserves to have a normal life for a while and he’s smart to want to let the Jared situation work itself out without their interference. Jessica won’t listen to him and no doubt she’ll be sorry for starting trouble with Jared.

So, did you think I forgot to mention the budding romance between Viki and Charlie? Not on your life. I loved the scenes where Viki and Charlie were at the drive in, once again without the benefit of sound from the movie. After several near misses, they finally shared their first kiss. Very nice and very funny because just as I was making a comment in my head, Viki pipes up with the same exact words saying, “I can’t believe I’m making out in a pickup truck in a drive-in movie in Texas on Christmas Eve.”

Now here’s where I get more than a little bit annoyed. I thought the kissing scenes were really nice. I don’t even mind Viki having a new man in her life because she deserves to have a life and Charlie so far is a good guy who cares about her. But I have to say that some of the best scenes she has had with Charlie so far have been almost exact recreations of her scenes with Ben. I won’t go over the ones we’ve seen prior to this, but when I can sit on my couch and predict exactly what’s going to be said in a scene and they it actually happens, I get pretty ticked off. When Viki and Charlie were dancing in the snow, I just sat there and waited and it happened again. Viki said, “No sound for the movie, no music for dancing.” Charlie said, “Oh, there’s music, you just have to listen.” Ben and Viki had an identical scene at Crossroads on their first date when he started dancing with her and she said there was no music and he said sure there is, can’t you hear it?

Now, either TPTB and the writers are at a loss for new storylines, or they realize (as I do) that the best way to give Viki happiness is to giver her Ben. But Charlie is not Ben and in my opinion it is difficult for the fans that loved Ben and Viki to see the show trying to capitalize on something that I don’t think can be duplicated. I am giving Viki and Charlie a fair chance, but I would much rather see them creating new memories than have Viki repeat the things she did with Ben down to the words she spoke. I don’t want to hear her telling Natalie that she was again at a Crossroads in her life when she left town. The more I watch and see parallels in the two relationships, the more it makes me miss Ben and feel that Charlie doesn’t measure up. I don’t want to feel that way and I wish the writers would give some originality to this relationship. Charlie found his son. Ben found his brother and long lost sister. Enough already! The only thing missing is Charlie being another long lost son of Asa’s. I want to enjoy Viki being with someone new and having some fun and love back in her life, but if everything she has with Charlie reminds me of her life with Ben, it isn’t going to be easy for me to accept. I would love to know how Erika feels about the scenes and dialogue that scream BEN!

Didn’t we breeze through Christmas and New Years very quickly on OLTL? I always enjoy the couples finding each other on New Years Eve. I was glad that Adriana didn’t walk out on Rex after that ring fiasco; it was nice seeing Layla happy with Vincent and even seeing Shawn find a girl for once. Christian finally came to his senses and pulled Sarah away from the band member who was about to kiss her so that he could do the job himself and even Antonio woke up after Shawn and Cristian told him what a fool he was to let Talia go. I was glad that Starr was able to take Cole’s mind off his sadness for even a little while and it didn’t bother me at all to see Jared left alone. But best of all was Roxy, who was totally jealous that Natalie might have designs on Miles. She was might overheated after seeing Miles in those Christmas boxers she gave him and when she walked into the room at the stroke of midnight and jumped his bones I nearly died laughing. Miles didn’t seem to mind, either.

Happy New Year everybody!

See ya next week.
