Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL

From Jill Berry, for About.com

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Ana writes: “I don't know what you have against Todd, he is the best actor there on OLTL. He is the only reason a lot of viewers see the show. Todd cares about Evangeline and this is the only way he knows how to show it because he has a stubborn type of personality, but that is Todd for you. His history should answer those questions you have about "everything depending on the size of his checkbook?

Dear Ana: I don’t know about Trevor (Todd is the character) being the best actor on the show. He surely is up there with the best in my opinion. I think many of the actors on the show have a lot of talent. As far as Todd’s personality goes, he has always been a misfit and we all know that. He’s a lot more than stubborn if you ask me. I don’t really have anything “against Todd” as you put it. He’s a troublemaker and actually a criminal from way back. Have you been watching all the years that Todd has been around? Actually, I like the character of Todd a lot more since Roger Howarth left the show. Roger just made Todd way too creepy for my liking, but Trevor has brought a lot of vulnerability to Todd, especially when it comes to his kids and his sister, Viki.

MLHossfeld writes: “I think OLTL needs some new writers. Most of the storylines are drawn out far too long to where I no longer care.”

Dear MLHossfeld: Most people, me included, would wholeheartedly agree with you about the way storylines drag on. It seems that no matter who writes for the show, this is always a complaint among the fans. These days, the one storyline that most people want to see come to some kind of satisfactory conclusion is the whole “Spencer ordeal.” It is widely known that Dena Higley, the show’s Head Writer, loves Spencer so we get more of him than most people want to see and we have no clue as to when we’ll see a light at the end of the tunnel. And of course when we have to watch people like Spencer over a long period of time, we find ourselves disliking them more because of what their presence does to the characters around them. I can’t count how many times I’ve yelled at the television saying, “Blair, get a darned clue already, girl!”

Lucy writes: “Is there a future for Clint and Dorian? Please say no. After all these years, I cannot believe the OLTL team is connecting these two as a couple. They need to send this Clint back to whatever soap opera he came from. He is that boring to me.”

Dear Lucy: Since I’ve never been much of a Clint fan myself, I can’t say I totally disagree with you. I do like Jerry ver Dorn, but his version of Clint, which I though was an improvement when he first joined the cast, is very quickly working on my last nerve. I don’t see Dorian and Clint in it for the long haul. Nobody except someone like Spencer deserves a witch like Dorian.

Leland writes: “Allow me to make some comments about the death of John's father. Every one wanted to blame first David, now Spencer for it, when in reality PAIGE killed John’s father. Yes, Spencer may have shot him, but he was killed by Paige when in her drunken stupor she operated on him and botched it and she is running around free and still dating the Commish? Give me a break.”

Dear Leland: I have only one question for you. Knowing Spencer and the horrible things he has done and knowing that he ruined his own brother’s life by letting him think for 25 years that he killed a man, do you really still believe that Paige was the one who committed that crime in the operating room?
