REFLECTIONS BY JILL for August 4, 2008

From

Mo and Noelle back in 1968

Copyright by ABC Daytime, 2008
Okay, so Bo and Rex are still stuck in 1968. If any two other actors were playing these scenes I would be a lot more impatient for it to be over, but Bob Woods and John Paul Lavoisier are so great together that I can endure it for a bit longer, even though I would have liked them to be back in 2008 when Viki came back. There really are some cute touches, like Bo trying to call home (on a rotary phone that you actually have to dial) only to find out that the area code he is dialing for Pennsylvania doesn’t exist yet. Then there was Bo telling Chuck that Rex’s cell phone was a transistor radio, rather than explain what it really is and how it works.

Nothing, absolutely nothing was more hysterical than seeing the Bonjour Café, or should I say the Good Day Café, back in 1968. I died laughing when Moe came out of the kitchen in all his tie-dyed glory with the long wig and granny glasses as the ultimate hippie. Having been a young teenager back then (oops, dating myself) I can honestly say that those scenes were very realistic for 1968, from the clothing, to the “doctored” brownies, to the love-ins. It was just too funny. And could there have been any better casting than Lindsay as the very off-balance Olympia Buchanan? I also loved Renee with the 60’s hairdo. LOL. Victoria Beckham thinks she invented the short on one side long on the other haircut. Not so.

I think the most hysterical part of the 1968 storyline was little Spencer Truman. That little boy who plays Shane (sorry, can’t remember his name) did such a great job. I died laughing when Rex was trying to keep him busy at the café by offering him ice cream while Asa/Bo talked to Emma and Spencer said, “I don’t like ice cream. Know where I can get my hands on some small animals” and Rex said, “you little sociopath-to-be.”

I was sorry to see Carlotta’s diner burned down. Do you think David actually did the deed when he set Clint’s check on fire at the table? Wouldn’t it be nice if Carlotta teamed up with Moe to open a bigger and even better diner? They would be a riot as partners, especially if Noelle came along for the ride.

Okay, John and Blair have done the deed and more than once. I have to say that to my surprise, I didn’t hate them together. However, I do maintain my original opinion that I am a big fan of Blair’s when she is behaving like an adult and admitting to her faults as well as her strengths. If she could only maintain that behavior I’d be very happy. John says he admired her because she’s tough and strong and has a lot of attitude and he’s right. I like the fact that Blair and John were realistic about the fact that they are good friends and don’t want to ruin the friendship, especially since Blair has tons of issues in her life right now and John is not over Marty.

The thing about Blair that drives me crazy is that she takes the bait every time Todd opens his mouth and he knows how to play her like a violin. Of course Todd had to be walking through Angel Square at the same time that John and Blair were talking about having spent the night together and in true “Todd fashion”, he behaved like a disgusting human being. He hates John because John is everything he is not and it is obvious that it burned him up to know that Blair slept with him. So behaving like the demented child he is, Todd has to fire back and tell Blair that he was with someone the night before also and that she’s a sweet, wonderful woman. That’s what bugs me about Blair. She didn’t get as crazy as she usually does when she thinks Todd has been with another woman, but she did react this time even if just a little bit, instead of ignoring him. And that feeds Todd’s ego like nothing else and he just had to ask John if it bothered him that even though Blair slept with him she’s still in love with her ex. I thought John exercised wonderful restraint, until of course Todd said to Blair, “He might have been doing you, but he was thinking about Marty, the woman he can’t have, the woman he let die.” Honestly, I was sorry that John left Todd conscious with any teeth remaining in his mouth. Todd got off easy with that one punch in the face. He used it to his advantage anyway when Marty felt sorry for him later on.

It’s pretty sickening to see Marty and Todd getting so chummy. I think Todd should start running now, because when Marty regains her memory, realizes how Todd has been using and playing with her and John finds out that Todd has been hiding her all this time, there will be no mercy for Todd. And you won’t see any tears from me.

More wasted time was spent in Mendorra watching Talia’s ridiculous wedding to Jonas. I’m so sick of Carlo and the way he threatens to kill anyone who refuses to do his bidding. It’s too bad that beautiful wedding dress Talia was wearing had to be wasted on such a ridiculous wedding. Obviously, Carlo is an equal opportunity killer because when Talia refused to marry Jonas without seeing Antonio first, he just threatened to kill her, too. Hey, why not? She’s just his daughter. Now we have to wait for Antonio to save her. Ugh!

So Antonio gets stabbed and Cristian comes to his rescue. Supposedly, he couldn’t hang on to Sarah after they went over the falls and now she’s gone. We know that Sarah is not really gone and is supposed to return at a later date played by a new actress, but it seems to me that Cristian isn’t all that upset so maybe he has Sarah hidden somewhere to protect her. I don’t care enough about any of these people at this point, but I am sorry to see Justus Bolding (Sarah) leave the show. I liked her in this role. And how ridiculous is Tina? Does she seem like she’s in mourning for her daughter? She’s worried about her own neck, that’s for sure.
