Cole and Starr

Copyright by ABC Daytime, 2008
Just when I was giving Cole points for being mature and wanting to take responsibility for the child he and Starr conceived, he goes and does something that makes me want to smack some sense into him. I could not believe that Cole went to Todd and told him that Starr was pregnant and intended to give the baby up for adoption. I was even more shocked that he told Todd that Starr wanted to give the baby to Marcie and Michael. What also shocked me was the fact that considering their past, Todd didn’t do more than try to choke Cole. Cole got off easy. The kid has guts; I’ll give him that.

I know Cole w as desperate to keep Starr from giving up the baby, but this time I won’t let him off the hook with desperation for an excuse. He wouldn’t have had to do much thinking to realize that by going to Todd, he could be sealing his fate with Starr and could even be risking his life. Todd tried to kill him twice; Cole was lucky the third time wasn’t the charm. Cole really got down on Todd’s level and used a tactic he knew would get results when he asked Todd, “Do you want your grandchild raised by John McBain’s brother and the woman who kidnapped your son?” As desperate as Cole may be, using the McBain’s name to incite Todd was pretty bad considering how good the McBains have been to him, especially John. It’s not enough to tell John that he screwed up after the trouble he started with Todd. It would have been effective enough to use legal means to fight for his child, which he will do anyway. Using Todd was stupid and hurtful to many people.

So of course Todd heads right for Starr and Blair and cannot, for the life of him, understand why they would keep the pregnancy a secret from him. DUH! Is he kidding? Did Starr really have to remind him that he tried to kill Cole more than once already? I was glad that Blair sided with Starr and gave her unwavering support, even if she is not so sure about Marcie and Michael adopting the baby. And once again Starr was right on when she told Todd that as usual he was making this situation all about him and that he didn’t even care about how she felt. How can anyone think Todd is a good father when he took such joy in telling Starr, “Who do you think told me about the baby and that you want to give it to Marcie?” He took such pleasure in letting Starr know that the ultimate betrayal came from her beloved Cole. What a disgusting man! I was not surprised to hear his parting words, “You’ll give my grandchild away over my dead body.” Then the icing on the cake was when Todd headed straight for Marcie and Michael and gave them the same warning he gave Starr. Marcie stood up to him fearlessly and when he reminded he about how she kidnapped Sam and held Viki at gunpoint, she happily reminded him that he was a horrible father to take Sam from his family and put him in that car risking his life. I don’t think Marcie is wise to go after this baby, but I sure do admire her for standing up to Todd.

What makes this situation even worse is that now Marcie is on the baby bandwagon again and she is becoming obsessed with having Starr’s baby just as she was getting used to living a good life with Michael without a child. Michael was right to try to dissuade her from going after the baby and all the problems involved. He sees Marcie setting herself up for all kinds of heartache and I wasn’t surprised that he packed a bag and distanced himself from the whole mess.

I felt really sad for Starr when Cole came by. She is as desperate as Cole in her own way and he really betrayed her by going to Todd. I love when Blair gets in her protective mode with her kids and she made no bones about telling Cole that he’d pay for “letting Todd loose on her daughter.” It was a rude awakening for Cole to hear Starr say, “You took my father’s side against me. You let my father out of his cage and now there’s not telling what he’ll do. This baby is not an antidote for losing your mother. She’d be turning over in her grave if she knew you went to the man who hurt her most. All you care about is winning. You’re just like my father.” I’m sure those words hurt Cole very much and I can’t even say that immaturity is responsible for Cole and Starr’s behavior all the time. Grown people fight dirty, too, just like they are.

Okay, so Nora stopped Bo and Lindsay’s wedding with the revelation that Lindsay actually did fake her breakdown after murdering Spencer and to her surprise, Lindsay confessed. As much as I love Bo, I can’t say I feel sorry for him. He went into this wedding like a blind fool and he wound up looking exactly like one. He wanted to go ahead with the wedding without even reading the evidence but Lindsay knew she was busted so she confessed and Bo had to face the truth, that he was betrayed YET AGAIN by the likes of Lindsay. And Nora is the bad guy for doing the right thing. I hate that. Even Matthew was mad at her, but for once he did act like a kid when he said that Lindsay had paid for her crime and that Nora just wanted to ruin his dad’s wedding. Sure, Nora could have exposed Lindsay in a less public way, but hey, Lindsay doesn’t really deserve any consideration from Nora and if Bo and Clint don’t like what she did, tough luck. I had to laugh when Nora showed up at Lindsay’s gallery with two cops and Lindsay didn’t even realize she was being arrested. Of course, she thought she had the whole thing figured out and couldn’t be tried twice for the same crime. Think again Lindsay. And Bo finally remembered who he really is when he asked her if she could live with what she did and she said yes. Too bad Bo doesn’t live by the same warped rules that Lindsay lives by. I’m sick of seeing Lindsay in court so I’m glad the hearing was short and she pleaded guilty. The only fun part was seeing Addie and David show up with his little namesake in those silly tee shirts. What else does Lindsay have up her sleeve?
