FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Fred writes: “It is becoming weird reading your commentary. Nash is a creep pure and simple. He used Antonio and pushed Jessica at every turn and you always try to cut his some slack. It is funny reading how you can call Cristian pushy but do not see that Nash is the pushiest person I have ever seen on this show. At least Cristian only advised Evangeline on Todd. He never did anything to force her at all unlike the clown, Nash. He is the most reprehensible character I have seen in a long while. I think they need to do a murder mystery on his character because I think his character being killed off would bring more applause than the Spencer character.”

Dear Fred: Well, I have to admit. Nobody has every called reading my column weird but hey, there’s a first time for everything. I think it’s perfectly fine for you to think Nash is a creep, but sorry, I’ll never agree with you. And think back a bit. Nash never took anything from Antonio that he didn’t offer willingly (except his wife, of course and she went willingly). Antonio invested in Nash’s winery and would have gotten plenty out of his investment. He offered Nash the job at Capricorn and Nash worked for him. Sure, Nash wanted to be around Jessica, but as much as he may have pushed her to be with him, she wanted every bit of it even though she didn’t readily admit it and even when she convinced him to walk away, she drew him back in. Do you honestly believe that Nash would have been able to get Jessica to give up her life, her marriage and hurt her family in the bargain if she didn’t love Nash and want to be with him as much as he wanted her? That’s like calling Jessica a real idiot and she is far from that. I don’t see Nash going anywhere in the foreseeable future, unless Forbes March wants to leave and they decided to kill off the character. There is a very good chance that Nash will turn out to be attached to a very prominent family in Llanview (guess which one). If that happens, he could be around for a long time. And I would bet that a murder mystery with Miles as the victim would go over a whole lot better than one with Nash as the victim. Miles is going to be such a menace that you will think Nash is a bed of roses.

Joan writes: “I know that Viki let Dorian test her blood and put her name on it, but wasn’t Dorian herself also tested? So, when Paige said Dorian was the match, wasn’t there a need to make absolutely sure it wasn’t the actual Dorian sample, instead of Viki’s? And, I’m sure I missed some news about the high school musical. Wasn’t it supposed to be Oklahoma? Why are Starr and Cole dancing a cha-cha-cha? There are no such songs in that musical!”

Dear Joan: I wondered the same thing when Paige said Dorian was a match for Jessica. I guess the only explanation would be that in order for Dorian to secretly get Viki’s blood tested, she had to forego submitting her own blood so Dorian probably didn’t have her own blood tested at all. And regarding the high school musical, yes, it was supposed to be Oklahoma but there was something said about the school not being able to come up with the funds to get the rights to that show, so Marcie got the students revved up to create their own show. Starr’s friend Langston wrote the show and created the music they will use.

Tracy writes: “I wonder if you are as bored as I am with the show right now. I am a long time viewer (I remember when the Buchanans rode into town) and this is the most bored with every plot line I remember being. I cannot stand Marty and her son. I don’t care about Miles. I don’t believe the Jessica sudden illness mess. I hate the way the Jessica triangle developed and hurt so many people (especially Jamie!). I can’t stomach Adriana and I want to slap Tater-tot every time he is on. I've always loved Starr and think that Kristin is a great young actress, but I'm not thrilled about having the "teen scene" as a lead storyline. I sure hope there is a good reason for where the heck Todd has been for so long when he returns - I want a good story, not some contrived and not believable mess! I'm still watching, and I'm not fast forwarding yet, so I'm still holding out hope.”

Dear Tracy: Wow, you do dislike a lot of the storylines and I didn’t even have the space to include all your dislikes. I don’t care much for Adriana either and I’d put Tate and Miles in one little boat with a slow leak and sail them across the ocean if I had my way. As far as the teen storyline goes, it is summertime and when summer comes, so does a storyline involving the young people. We’ve seen some bad ones in the past. This one isn’t great but it’s not the worst I can remember. We just have to endure it. And Todd has been missing for one reason and that is that Trevor St. John was in contract negotiations, so they had to make him disappear while it was decided if he would stay with the show or not. He is staying and now miraculously Todd is back. And if you were looking for Todd’s current situation to be something believable, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Kris writes: “Why is the character of Jessica suffering so? I've stopped watching OLTL until I know that she is well. I didn't think that the actress, Bree, was in contract disputes so I don't understand why they have given her such a dismal situation.”

Dear Kris: Jessica is one of those beloved lead characters that are a long-suffering heroin like her mother, Viki. She is destined to suffer tragedy after tragedy and come out a stronger person. They keep throwing tragedies at Viki and it has nothing to do with contract disputes with Erika and I’m sure the same goes for Bree. I can’t wait for Jessica and Nash to be together but I’m no fool. I know it will only be a matter of time before something else happens to derail their happiness. Hey, Jessica has suffered childhood abuse, lost a child, had DID, Hepatitis C and liver cancer. Compared to what her mom has been through, that’s like a head cold.
