Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL for January 15, 2008

You just knew that Dorian would get Charlie to stay at La Boulaie. I wanted to just scream at Charlie when he left his folder for Dorian to snoop in and then bought her story about being a hopeless romantic when she was grilling him about Viki. Maybe when he finds out that Viki has an even bigger and better mansion down the street he’ll move in with her. Hey, anything could happen. The next thing you know, Charlie will be in trouble and Viki will hide him away in her attic. Oh, like it couldn’t happen after all the parallels we’ve seen between Charlie and Ben lately!

What are we going to find out about Rex’s past? Roxy nearly had a heart attack when Rex said he’d like to know about where he came from since he knows nothing about any of his relatives. I’ll bet his present will be pretty full of surprises when he finds out that Shane is his son. They did a good job of casting that boy. He has a strong resemblance to Rex.

Dorian surely wasn’t too happy that Rex and Adriana got engaged, even though she did give Rex her blessing. Maybe she didn’t think he’d go through with the proposal. We know now that Melissa Gallo will be leaving the show in the next several weeks, so obviously their wedding will hit a snag somewhere along the way. Gigi and Shane will probably enter into the whole mess now that we know her connection to Rex. I’m sure some fans know more than I do, but I don’t know what Adriana’s fate will be and whether she will leave Llanview alive or not.

I am more disappointed in Jessica than anyone else these days. Didn’t she cause enough trouble when she set up Jared and had him spend two years in jail? I don’t care that she didn’t know what happened to him. She knows how Tess’s awful behavior has hurt her life and the lives of her family members and she still insists on getting involved in her ridiculous and dangerous scheme to convince Jared that Tess is out and on his side to get Buchanan Enterprises to buy the vineyard. She is not giving Jared enough credit for protecting himself and his position. He doesn’t believe her scam and I wasn’t surprised that he wanted proof that she is Tess and that he kissed her. Isn’t it enough that she and Nash went though so much turmoil to be together? Isn’t it enough that she nearly died more than once because Tess indiscriminately contracted Hepatitis C? I felt terrible for Nash when he asked her to promise she wouldn’t carry out this scheme with Jared and she refused to make that promise to him. And it only gave her more ammunition to carry out her plan when everyone in her family was talking about Viki’s DID returning more than once and she gave Jared a look that told him how likely it was that it happened to her as well.

I don’t care much for Jared right now, although I think that will change for me. I think he has gotten himself into a situation where he is battling between really wanting to be with Natalie and wanting what he can have as a Buchanan. Deep down, I don’t think he’s a bad guy. He obviously really cares about Natalie; he has been very nice to Matthew and he was really there for Cole when he was so upset about the loss of his mother on New Year’s Eve. I don’t think I’m going to feel sorry for Jessica, no matter what he does to get back at her this time. It’s Nash that I will feel sorry for, not to mention Bree. Nash said it all when he told Jessica that he was not willing to risk losing his wife again and his daughter’s mother.

I was so hoping that Gigi would get to broadcast all over the airwaves that Ramsey and Todd had held her son hostage to get Marcie out in the open, but sure enough, there was that maniac Ramsey threatening her and Shane so that she would keep her mouth shut. When will we see the last of Ramsey? Soon? I hope so!

The voice of reason in the midst of the whole Tommy mess came from Langston, who has been through so much when it comes to losing the people you love and who love you. She hit the nail on the head when Dorian and Starr were talking about Tommy coming home and everyone fighting over him when she said, “Everyone is missing the point. The more people there are to love a kid, the better.” Well said, Langston.

I don’t hate Nora with Clint and I thought I would. Let’s see where this goes. I’m anxious to see what Viki thinks about this couple. Lots of stuff is unfolding and I can’t wait to see where everyone winds up.
