REFLECTIONS BY JILL….

I’m so glad I didn’t give up on One Life To Live last year when I was so frustrated that I wanted to send a boot through my television set. We had another great week of shows last week and it seems like more good material is on the way. Between our new writers and our new Executive Producer, we seem to have a winning combination.

Dorian is coming back in March….can you believe it? How long have we wanted this to happen? I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble she makes.

Well, we waited long enough and Viki is finally getting her family back. In my opinion, the new actors playing Jessica and Joey fit perfectly into their roles and fit beautifully together in their interaction as brother and sister. Joey always was the sensitive one and it fits for him to be preparing for the ministry. Is it possible that we can find him a nice girl? It was a pleasure and a joy to see the happiness on Viki’s face to be reunited with her children and it was also nice to hear her remembering Ben. Even though she has some of her family back, it’s evident that Ben holds that place in her heart that cannot be filled by anyone else.

By the way, how many times did you have to look at Flash to make sure she wasn’t Roseanne Delgado? She’s actually a perfect combination of Roseanne and Sophia. I guess she’s going to be Joey’s first reform case. She sure was quick grabbing his wallet.

Tell me something. If you were Jen, how likely would it be that you would take a shower at Mitch’s house, hardly dry yourself off and run out in a short, skimpy robe with nothing on underneath into a blizzard? I thought Jen had finally gotten a shot of the smarts…guess she didn’t grab hard enough onto that smart stick. At least she got some information to pass on to Bo about Mitch. This week Bo is supposed to find medical files at the cult house on Natalie and Jessica involving DNA tests, organ donations, and more. I just want him to find the proof that Jessica is not Mitch’s daughter.

And, while we’re talking about sleazy, slimy Mr. Evil (Mitch, not Todd…lol), I read that the old man needs a heart transplant and Natalie is a match. Mitch supposedly has agreed to provide Natalie in exchange for something of the old man's...whatever those papers are...so I guess they plan to murder Nat, grab her heart, and Mitch gets what he wants. Now I think Mitch is going a bit too far. I mean, we all thought Natalie came to Llanview without a heart, but this is taking organ donation a bit far…don’t you think? And is the old man Victor Lord…is he Dr. Balsom? Who knows?

I enjoyed the scenes between Natalie and Cristian who finally got some alone time. What was the deal with that mirror? She said she was straightening it out, but I kept thinking she was going to find something behind it…a safe or a mysterious passageway. I have to say it was pretty silly that she fell and cut her leg and in 3 minutes it was infected. I’m no doctor, but somehow I don’t think it works that way.

Ah, poor Keri. I knew I’d feel sorry for her when she found out the truth, but she was so heartbroken that I felt worse than I thought I would. This week she gives birth to a baby girl and gives Antonio and her mom the boot. Who could blame her? And in a better twist than I thought the writers could come up with, it turns out that Keri was already pregnant by Antonio when she was implanted with Liz’s baby….so she and Antonio are really the parents of this baby. I can’t wait to see how all this plays out. She has been disappointed so much by the people she loves most.

And now…my biggest wish has come true (except of course for Ben coming back…and stay tuned…you never know!) Nora finally knows the whole truth and has kicked Troy to the curb. Did he really think she would accept his lame explanation after he lied about everything? And let’s face it…hearing the truth is bad enough…catching the man in the act…ICK!!!!!!!!! I was only surprised that Nora hung around to listen to him at all. He’s a sleaze and he’s got nothing left and I hear he really leaves Lindsay out in the cold.

It seems Todd will be up to his old tricks again this week. I believe that Blair trades herself to Mitch for Starr’s freedom (don’t quote me on this) and Todd finds out what Mitch is up to and agrees to bring Natalie to him in exchange for Blair. Now, isn’t this something that sister Viki might not forgive you for this time, Toddy?

Things are really cookin’ this February. I think it’s great. The show has new life and we have reason for renewed interest. All we need is a few more favorites back…Ben Davidson, John Sykes…you know…some of the guys we miss most!

See ya next week...

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Jen writes: “Hey!!! I am a big fan of OLTL even though I am only 14. I am wondering, how do you know all this stuff? And did you ever go to the studio to meet the stars? I have with my mom who has been watching for like 27 years. And do you know about any events coming up to meet the stars?”

Dear Jen: I was a fan of OLTL when I was 12.  I did stop watching on and off for short periods of time, but I’ve always been a fan, too.  There are a couple of ways I know all this stuff…lol.  First of all, there are scoops and spoilers printed all over the Internet.  You can do a search on “One Life To Live” and it will give you a very long list of websites you can visit.  They all have information.  I check out several sites every week, but honestly, sometimes I rely on some of my good friends on line to forward the information to me when I don’t have the time to search for it myself.  As for visiting the studio, no, I never have, which is quite bizarre since I live in New York, but I’ve never had a chance to.  A lot of my friends have and they had great fun on their visits.  I’d love to hear about your visit with your mom.  Fill me in!

Elizabeth writes: “When you said that you wished that TPTB had changed the room in the hotel around so that it didn't look like Ben and Viki's wedding night room, I started to laugh because that's the first thing I noticed!!  And I can't believe how awful Mitch Laurence is to actually want to consummate his "marriage," if you can call it that, to Natalie. I was practically in tears during that whole thing and I'm so glad that Viki and Cris saved the day! And just who is that man in the wheelchair?? Glad Todd finally got what was coming to him and I hope Blair gets a brain!!  Hopefully, this Fan February thing will be well worth the wait, but I can honestly say that after one day of new writers, I'm already pleased with the way my favorite show is going!! Now, all they need is to bring my Ben back!!”

Dear Elizabeth: Well, I sure can’t add a thing to what you said. Mitch makes my skin crawl and I, too, was so uncomfortable watching him with Natalie on that bed….Ewww! Elizabeth, it seems to me that we have agreed on many of the same things before…especially about bringing back Ben. I actually really do like Life With Bonnie and would like it to be renewed. We need to have Mark cloned so that he can do both full time. Hey, is that too much for a fan to ask?

Christine writes: “Mark Derwin is my favorite actor!! I miss his role as Ben on the show.  Any chance he will return OLTL?”

Dear Christine: I, too, love and adore Mark Derwin. From what I have read on the Net and in the newspapers, they are now taping the last episode of Life With Bonnie for the season, which means Mark would be free to come back to OLTL either from March until they start shooting Bonnie again in August (if Bonnie is renewed) or in March until the end of his contract…at least. I’m not sure when the networks announce which shows will be renewed, but that will determine what happens…so we impatiently wait!
