REFLECTIONS BY JILL….

Lots of loopy stuff going on this week on OLTL…and I’m looking forward to watching some of this stuff unfold as the weeks go by. Some characters have gone a bit too far over the edge and some are just cruising by not even knowing that a big old boot is about to kick them in the butt.

Let’s start with my favorite girl…Roxy. Now, I know she’s desperate for love. I know she’s never had any and craves someone who wants her and needs to be with her as much as she needs him, but MAX? Even though Roxy is a bit off-kilter…ok, a lot off-kilter, she still has a part of her brain that is not soaked with booze that tells her Max is not the one. She knows he can’t stand her. He says the most awful things to her and she knows all about using words to hurt people…she’s done it to Natalie her whole life. So why does she keep clinging to the dream of having a life with Max? I think she should just take his money, which she did so deserve, and head for the hills. Even Roxy can do better and we know there’s no way she’ll be imitating Luna any time soon.

Can we talk about Sam and Blair for a minute? Did I miss something? Was there an episode I missed where this relationship started getting romantic? I don’t remember Sam being so comfortable being romantic with Blair and Blair not being taken off guard by it. It’s not the weirdest relationship on the show, but it really does baffle me.

Talking about weird relationships? How funny was it when Hank found out Rae was married and his first guess was that she married Nigel? Now, there’s a marriage I would love to see. Actually, I’d love to see anything that keeps Nigel on the screen on a regular basis…he is wonderful and refreshing and we need more of him.

I still don’t get Rae marrying Asa…she could have had anything she wanted from him as blackmail…why be tied to that old bat? They have taken away so much of the wonderful character and personality of Rae Cummings. She lost her romance with John and her wonderful friendship with Viki…her character has been destroyed…what a shame.

I guess we need to talk about pathetic little Jen for a minute…and I mean a minute. Although she wasn’t doing a half bad job of emulating her mother…she did make a major mistake. She keeps taking for granted that Al is stupid and will continue to let himself be led around by the nose (he probably will for a while), but she never counted on him telling his daddy that she begged him to sleep with her twice and he willingly complied. I hope when Max confronts her this week that he blasts her right out of the water. If Al is too stupid to figure out her game, Max won’t be.

Have I said this before? CARLOTTA, MIND YOUR BUSINESS! Boy, the older this woman’s sons get, the more she has her nose in their business. She bought into Jen’s trap like a dog with a bone and she didn’t care what Cris has to say about the whole situation. She should let Cris lead his own life and decide for himself what he’s going to do with Natalie. I don’t think he needs his mother making him feel guilty.

Carlotta is sure going to have her hands full soon…she’s so busy worry about Cris and Jen’s baby…wait until she finds out what her other adoring son has gotten himself into. I’ll tell you this…she will have no time for making fajitas if she doesn’t watch out.

Oh boy…this Antonio/Keri mess keeps getting messier. Everyone will be devastated by this surprise. Keri…carrying her mother’s child who is really her fiancé’s…RJ who will absolutely spit nickels when he finds out that VEGA is the father of Liz’s baby, whom he still loves…Antonio who very will might get that ring back yet again when Keri finds out he slept with her mother. This is the biggest mess we’ve seen in a long time. Makes you want to take a long, hot shower.

I hear Viki is finally coming back to town on October 7th…can’t wait. I miss her so much when Erika takes her long summer vacations. Word has it that she’s coming back to own with someone…well, we know it’s not Ben…and we do know that Mitch Laurance is coming back to Llanview. I can’t see him coming back with Viki…so I guess we have a couple of surprises coming…could it be Tina?…Dorian?…one of her loving sons…I wish.

OK…silliest happening of the week….BO AND GABBY WITH THE BULL HORN! Oh please…maybe it would have been cute if it were something Bo might consider doing in a million years…but I don’t think so. I think a nice public dinner out and some cozy dancing for everyone to see would have done the trick. This relationship has been slowly moving in a nice direction. Let’s keep it that way and not get crazy.

OK…I happily acknowledge that Week #2 of “Life With Bonnie” was great. I loved the show. They must have done some work after week one because it was cute, funny and made me laugh out loud. Bonnie Hunt has always been very cute and funny and next to doing romance better than anyone I know, Mark Derwin has proven himself to have a firm grip on comedic acting. Keep it up guys, you’re doing great!

See ya next week...

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Sandy writes: “What's the matter with Cristian? Is he such a wimp that he won't stand up to Jen and tell her what HE thinks and feels? He's letting her walk all over him. It's time Mr. Nice got a backbone. Newly pregnant Jen and Liz: They only had sex with their respective partners a week ago!  How can they have any inkling they might be pregnant?”

Dear Sandy:  I do agree with you that it seemed like overnight that Jen and Liz knew they were pregnant…totally ridiculous. When it comes to Cris I don’t think he’s a wimp…I think he’s a really nice and decent guy who keeps getting kicked in the gut…all the way back to that fiasco with Jessica and Will.

Diana writes: “You probably already know this but since you asked, I was at the studio last Friday and Erica was back working. Hopefully we won't have to wait 3 or more weeks to actually see her.”

Dear Diana:  I had heard that Erika was back but I sure do thank you for the information. Also, if there’s anything you’d like to share about you studio visit, I’d love to hear the details. I know it’s hard to believe, but I am a New Yorker who has never visited the studio.

Harriet writes: “I have been a fan of this program for years, even taping it to watch in the evening when I worked during the day. Now I am retired and could watch live but the stories and characters are terrible.  I am so tired of those teenagers that are small one day and bigger and different the next week; the storylines are so terrible in my opinion.  I also think of the days of Viki and Ben.  Dorian and her escapes.  So many changes that I can't stand it and don't watch it nor do I tape it and fast-forward it.  It is a waste of my time.  I don't know who thinks up these stories but they should go back to Journalism classes or imagination classes.   Hopefully some day they will wake up.”

Dear Harriet: Can’t say I disagree with you here. I miss all the great storylines and actors that you do. I could tolerate the young actors if the writing was better.  I like your idea about Journalism classes.

Evelyn writes: “Please cut Nora's and Gabrielle's hair, they looked so much better with it short.”

Dear Evelyn: They are at that awkward stage in hair length, aren’t they?  I think they’re trying to make Nora look a bit younger for Troy (not working in my opinion) and I have no idea what the desired look will be for Gabrielle. Guess we have to wait and see.
