REFLECTIONS

I’ve been reading all of the Fall Preview information on the Internet and in the
magazines and now that I know what THEY SAY is going to happen, I’m ready to
comment on whether I will be celebrating or crabbing about what appears to be
coming in the fall.
Gary Tomlin tells the magazines that everything is going to explode in the fall. Hmmmm…should we be happy about this? I’m thinking maybe the happy/not happy ratio for me will be about a 70-30 split…LOL…with me being happy about 70% of the storylines and complaining about 30%. Believe me, I hope I’m wrong and that I love 100% of what we’re looking forward to. Do you think I have a shot at that?
OK…let’s start with….
Blair/Todd/Max/Gabrielle – Since we’ve been hearing for months that these zanies will be front and center for the fall, I hope TPTB make it good. Mr. Tomlin says that in spite of everything, Gabby comes to the strange realization that she loves Max. Well…HELLO!!! Raise your hands if you hadn’t figured that one out yet. He also says that the story will be heartbreaking and also a lot of fun. I’m anxious to see that combination. Asa’s plan is supposed to take a “dark turn” and affect everyone in town. Now THAT sounds very interesting to me. Supposedly there is even a wedding in the offing, but of course, no one knows if it will actually happen, or whose wedding it will be.
My first thoughts were about the wedding. I would love to see a Todd/Blair wedding that actually takes place and culminates in both people saying “I do” and not “I do…want to kill you.” Do you think that’s a lot to ask? It probably is. I’m thinking that Asa is going to need a way to get Todd out of his hair and out of his plans for Max, and somewhere along the line either Asa or Gabrielle, or both of them, will find out that Max is not the father of Blair’s baby. Gabby has already come close to finding out the truth once. Asa and Gabby will probably use that information somehow to try and back Todd into a corner. Maybe the wedding will be Max and Blair’s and Asa will offer Todd the information he has about the baby in the hopes of getting Todd to stop the wedding….of course in exchange for that lovely tape of Max and Gabby “having a go at it.” I think I’m going to get a lot of laughs out of Todd, because in my opinion, he is much sharper and more devious than Asa. I think his main rival will be Gabby, which should be very interesting to watch because although she is very dangerous, you have to get up pretty early in the morning to “out-bad” Todd and most importantly, Todd and Gabby are both well aware of each other’s biggest vulnerability…hers being Max…his being Blair…it will be fun to see how they use each other. I am anxious to see how this all plays out and I am especially anxious to see if Todd has it in him to badly hurt a pregnant Blair. I am not wondering too much if Gabby is capable of hurting Max and sending him to jail for “killing” Asa, because believe it or not, between Todd and Gabby, I think she’s got the colder heart. I know Todd has done some awful things to Blair, but Gabby has poverty hanging over her head and for her, I think loving money wins hands down over just plain loving. I am not even going to wonder if Blair will actually have her baby. There have been too many lost babies on OLTL and they better not dare do that again.
Of course, now that I’ve given my opinion on these people, I am sure Mr. Tomlin will go and have Max and Gabby live happily ever after…Geez, I hate when the bad guys get the good life.
On to the young threesome….
Jessica/Seth and Natalie - OK already, I want to know what Seth and Natalie are up to. The buzz is that Seth’s going to have real feelings for Jessica, which is a bit scary because I think Natalie can be pretty ruthless and she is definitely driven to get what she wants and have Seth to enjoy it with. I can see that little girl doing some nasty things to Jessica for stealing her man’s heart. Personally, I don’t see the great chemistry between Jess and Seth. When I think of the bad boy/good girl scenario, I always think of couples like Patch and Kayla from Days of our Lives, who sizzled on the screen even when they hated each other and just looking at him scared the life out of all of the fans. I don’t see that chemistry between Jessica and Seth…YET…but I am willing to be pleasantly surprised Mr. T…so Surprise Me!!!
I see major drama coming for….
Jen and Cris – The Fall Previews say that the new character, Keith, is going to be trouble for Jen and Cris…as if they need any more trouble than having “Mother Love” Lindsay in their lives. Obviously Lindsay is going to find out about Cris working with Bo to bring RJ down. I really don’t like the thought of this, because I have a feeling that Jen could, and probably will, get hurt in Lindsay’s plot for revenge…and I don’t mean emotionally hurt. RJ and “the bad boys” are not people who need to be messed with and Lindsay is probably going to be messing with them plenty. I can just see Lindsay now, crying her eyes out in the Emergency Room after Jen gets caught in the crossfire at some shootout on the docks. I fear that Lindsay is headed for the most dangerous scheme she’s ever dreamed up and one she just might finally regret. Too bad it will be others who do the suffering.
I know that Lindsay deserves her own section in this article, but I’m sure she’s going to get some major ink from me when she gears up for her new “project.” So much more about Looney Linz later.
On to….
Nora/Sam/Troy – So Troy is supposed to take care of little Matthew after he is in an accident and Troy is supposed to be the one who can solve some problem for Nora and Sam…any guesses? Your guess is as good as mine. The word is that Troy and Nora get closer and so do Sam and Nora. OK…I will admit it…I could not stand Colin, but I do kind of like Troy. I know…I can’t explain it…same face, same actor…but somehow I like him….JUST NOT WITH NORA! Please…haven’t Sam and Nora been apart long enough? It has been almost 2 years since that wedding on New Year’s Eve that never took place. It seems obvious that Nora will have Troy and Sam in her life and that Bo is probably no longer a factor (just my opinion…don’t shoot), so why do we need Troy in the middle of Sam and Nora’s journey back to each other? I don’t want it and I don’t like it. If Ty Treadway is going to hang around for a while, we can find Troy a nice woman of his own, can’t we? I don’t mind if he and Nora have a friendship (although it will kill poor Sam), but put Sam and Nora together already. Oh, and keep Lindsay’s lips off of Sam’s, will ya!!! And Sam, you sure didn’t unlock your lips from Lindsay’s too quickly and she’s going to get you in trouble with Nora for that…mark my words! Not too smart Sam.
Well, it wouldn’t be a Fall Preview article without a bit of wondering about….
Ben and Viki – All I can say is that there better be a good story for these two this fall. We sure have waited long enough…and I do not want the story centering around Natalie and who her real mother might be, but to be honest, any storyline that throws Ben and Viki together is okay with this fan.
I’ve heard that Ben is going to become an in-patient at St. Ann’s…or should I say Mr. Dave is going to be. Gee, those Davidsons can’t help but get themselves locked up, can they? Viki’s done it twice…once with Hugo Monroe and once with Gina and now that she’s a free woman, I guess it’s time for Ben to be locked up. I know some people are reading this and laughing, thinking that’s where Ben really belongs, but all I can say is, if you didn’t think Ben was a riot playing a mental patient with Allison last week, then I volunteer to buy you a sense of humor. Mark Derwin’s Dave was hilarious and this fan thinks they should give him comedy to work with much more often.
I’m happy to see that the character of Ben was not put on the shelf while Erika Slezak was on vacation, as was done in the past. Of course, I love nothing more than seeing Ben and Viki together, but I do love to see Ben interact with Sam and I’m hoping that his new “alliance” with Asa will lead to him forging a long overdue relationship with Renee. I also wouldn’t mind having Ben and Todd work together to bring Allison down…can you imagine these two trying to kill each other while Allison wreaks havoc on Viki?
Now for something new….
Antonio and Keri – I don’t know what is planned for these two, but I like them. I see a real chance for a good storyline here…these two have a spark. I am already very curious to know about Keri Reynolds and Antonio needs an exciting lady in his life. Maybe he should try bringing the teacher an apple instead of flowers next time.
OK Mr. Tomlin…I have been patiently waiting many months for the promise of some great storylines in the fall. I have accepted that storylines had to be cleared up from the former regime, although it sure seems to have taken a bit too long. I have tried to be fair in my commentary…well, most of the time…LOL…and compliment the things I do like. I have seen positive changes in the writing for the show and I find it definitely more watchable, no matter who is on. So Mr. T…would it kill you to maybe…lock Lindsay up for a while…or throw a wedding that doesn’t end in bloodshed? I’m not asking for much. How about sending Gabby to Logan’s with Asa’s credit card and having him stand at the cash register drinking a bourbon while she’s carted away and arrested for stealing those cards? Come on, let me have a little fun! I’m counting on you NOT to let me down, Gary.

recent commentary and I totally agree with you when you
beg the writers NOT to have Jessica belong to other parents. How many times in
the show have the characters of Jessica and Viki commented on the fact that they
look so much alike? And speaking of looking alike, did the casting department
purposely bring on Natalie to look so much like Allison Perkins? Maybe Natalie
is Allison's daughter and that is why Natalie is trying to seek revenge on the
Buchanans. Just a thought.”
Dear Tracy: I couldn’t agree with you more. Jessica belongs to no one but
Viki and yes, Natalie does have a striking resemblance to Allison Perkins. I
thought the same thing from the beginning and hoped it wasn’t wishful thinking
on my part. I don’t want Natalie to be the “real” daughter of Viki and Clint…no
way!

Dear Sheree: LOL…you should know me by now. If I had the chance to write
for the show, I’d write, of course, for Ben and Viki and it would be ANY STORY I
could come up with that would keep them together. It would have tons of romance
and comedy and of course, it would put then on the screen at least 3 days a
week. I honestly don’t think I’d be very good at soap writing for one reason…I
adore happy endings and would have every show end in one…not too exciting for a
lot of people. Have you guessed yet…I am a dreamer!

have been mishandled, too. I found it inexcusable that Kevin simply left town
one day without having a single goodbye scene with ANYONE. As I commented to
one of the mailing lists I'm on a few weeks ago, my "pet" theory on the
Jessica/Natalie/Seth/etc story line is that Natalie and Seth are going to try
and scam Viki into believing that Jess isn't Jess, (which, of course, will
require some messing around with DNA tests and such -- perhaps Natalie should be
sure and take Lindsey's new classes at Llanview University - SOC 101 "Creating
Havoc in the Lives of the Buchanan's for Fun and Profit" [with special guest
lectures by Max Holden], SOC 102 "Successful Medical Record Tampering
Techniques" and DRAMA 105 "Dramatic Facial Expressions I - Feigning Shock and
Innocence"). The one think I'd really love (but am not holding my breath for),
would be to see Viki & Jessica's attack dogs - Asa, Todd and Ben - decide to
*try* and put aside their differences and defend her against Allison & whatever
other threat may show up. Granted, both Asa and Todd have been known to hurt
Jess and/or Viki themselves, but I've noticed that neither of them are willing
to allow *anyone else* to try... and setting Mark Derwin, Roger Howarth and Phil
Carey loose on a mission of honor has so much potential for genuine hilarity
(and effectiveness - woe be to the one who tries to tangle with any of those
three), that it would almost be criminal to let the opportunity slip by.
Dear Kriselda: You are wonderful…a woman after my own heart and my own sick sense of humor. I agree, of course, about Kevin and about Seth and Natalie…but I am still laughing my head off over Lindsay’s new classes at Llanview University…you are hilarious. And Kriselda, it would be my dream to see all of Viki’s “MEN” team up on that mission for Viki. I love the way you think, girl. I’ve been wanting Ben and Todd to team up ever since Viki told Todd about Allison Perkins…you just know Todd is going to go after her because there’s no way he thinks Ben can do anything right…silly boy.
