ONE LIFE TO LIVE RECAP FOR FRIDAY, MARCH 9, 2001

<<< BACK TO RECAPS  INDEX

Sam’s Place

Jen sets a note to her mother and father on the table and heads for  the door.  She is intending to leave town, but runs smack into Cris as she opens the door.

The Cherryvale Inn

Colin informs his guest that he is glad they all made it; there is 100% attendance.  He asks if that doesn’t make them feel tingly all over.  Melanie asks him what this is all about and Lindsay wants to know what he is up to.  Antonio tells Colin that he’s ready to hear what he has to say.  Colin says that he has an announcement to make – something that will affect all of them in one way or another.  He’s planning on leaving town and he jokingly tells his “guests” not to try and talk him out of it.  Bo tells Colin that the truth is a hit with him, saying “Get to the truth you little……..po-it!”

The Mansion

Max is sitting in Asa’s office doing some paperwork, when he looks up to see a sexily dressed Skye.  She comes in and asks him if she is interrupting anything.  He smiles and answers, “Hardly!”  He tells her that he has been thinking about her and was getting worried that he hadn’t seen her.  “Were you?  That’s odd,” she responds.  She guesses that she must have missed all of his messages and was mistaken to think that he was being indifferent.

Rae’s House

Rae is seated on the couch, having an animated conversation with her pillow.  She tells it that it needs to giver her time to adjust to things – that there has been a lot of upheaval in her life.  She needs time to absorb what is happening and everything will work out for the best.  She’ll have to let her make a decision and try not to take it personally. John is standing just outside the living room, watching Rae talk to herself and the pillow.  “Rae?”  he asks.  He has scared her and asks if she is all right.  She tells him that she is; she is with a patient.  He wonders, with a smile, who that might be.  Rae tells him that she is her own patient; since things are such a mess with Skye and she seems to have gone down the wrong road, she has decided to analyze herself.

Sam’s Place

Cris asks Jen if she is going somewhere.  She says that she is going back to school.  She tells him that she doesn’t owe him any explanations, but he points out that he did save her life.  If it weren’t for he and Skye, she might be dead now.  Jen is angry and asks if he thinks that she didn’t appreciate it enough.  He tells her that he doesn’t want thanks, but feels responsible, but she reminds him that she has let him off the hook.  Cris asks just that she talk to him before leaving, and she concedes, saying she’ll give him two minutes.  He wonders if her parents know that she is leaving, and she says that they will soon; Cris doesn’t get why she is sneaking off in the middle of the night.  Jen tell him that it is none of his business and he can go off and rescue somebody else; he doesn’t know her.  In fact, he knows nothing about her.  Cris says that he knows enough to know that she is running from her uncle.

The Cherryvale Inn

Colin gets profound on his guests and asks what the truth really is.  Bo tells him not to even start, but Colin thinks they should explore things further.  He thinks that the truth must be relative, with, say, Lindsay’s truth being different than his.  Lindsay comments that he wouldn’t know the truth if it bit him in the butt.  Colin announces that the truth changes your life for better or for worse.  Will tries to butt in, calling Colin a liar and a kidnapper, but Colin continues.  He wonders if the truth changes or is constant.  Does it lose its impact or fade over time?  He thinks they should answer these questions as well.

A nervous Melanie asks him why he is doing this, and asks him to go somewhere with her to talk.  Bo doesn’t think they’ll be going anywhere and urges Colin to continue.  Colin reminds him that patience is a virtue, to which Sam replies that brevity is the soul of wit.  Nora agrees with the men, saying that she has had enough Agatha Christie for one night.  If the truth is to be told, she’d like to hear it.  Colin promises the truth, but not on an empty stomach, and announces that appetizers will be served.

The Mansion

Skye tells Max that it is hard to believe him since she hasn’t seen or heard from him in ages.  He tells her that he has a good excuse, to which she responds that making excuses is one of his most impressive talents; she is sure that he was otherwise engaged.  Max reveals that he was thrown in jail, threatened, disowned, shot at again, knocked over the head and thrown into a grave and buried, as he wonders if those things qualify as being otherwise engaged.  Skye tells him that they might.  Max tells her that he has missed her, adding that she has never looked more beautiful.  Skye admits that he sure knows how to turn a girl’s head, but Max argues that he can do a lot more than that.  He congratulates Skye on her freedom, saying that this is what they were waiting for.  Skye tells him that he doesn’t know how it feels, but he tells her that he knows how it makes him feel.  There is nothing in their way now.  Max takes Skye in his arms and kisses her, but after a moment she pulls away.  She tells him that she never wants him to do that again.

Rae’s House

John tells Rae that she has got to stop blaming herself for what has happened; it is not her fault that things have come to a dead end.  Rae admits that John may be right.  “I am right, Dr. Rae, with all due respect,” he teases.  Rae asks if he would role-play with her; he could be Skye.  John interrupts, telling her that he will be himself and she will be the woman he loves, and for once she will sit and listen to what he has to say.

Sam’s Place

Jen informs Cris that her visit is over; she is leaving.  He points out that she has never mentioned going back to school before, adding that he thinks that she just doesn’t want to face what is going on.  Jen quips that Cris should send her a bill for the psychoanalysis.  He says that he will and the diagnosis will be cowardice.  Jen is angry now and tells him that he doesn’t have a clue about her or her life.  Cris implores her to talk to him and tell him the real reason that she is leaving then asks where her father is.

The Cherryvale Inn

Lindsay rants that Colin has some nerve; he knows good and well that nobody would have come there just to have dinner with him.  Bo pipes up, saying he wants to hear what Colin has to say; he wants to know the truth.  Lindsay comments that it is all a sham; if her note had said anything about dinner, she never would have come.  Nora wonders just what her note did say and adds that this is Colin’s chance to be PT Barnum.  Colin calls Nora “Scarlet” and says that he is glad that she is there, which angers Sam.  Nora wonders where Colin wants them all to sit, pointing out that he has forgotten the place cards.  He tells her that he has not forgotten; the plans are all in his head.  He indicates that he wants Nora to his right and Melanie to his left, with Sam at the other end of the table.  The others fall in and wait to see what will happen.  RJ makes a move to leave, but Antonio invites him to sit next to him.  Colin announces that Todd and Blair’s almost wedding and all of the deep, dark secrets that were revealed there, made him think that it would be a great theme for a dinner party – secrets and lies.  He looks at Lindsay and asks if they should start with the secret about her first.

The Mansion

Max tells Skye that he knows that she was in trouble and needed him and that he wasn’t there, but that doesn’t change the fact that he cares about her.  She tells him that trouble in an understatement; she is no longer a Chandler, but then again, he is no longer a Buchanan either.  Max points out that she has known that for over a year, but she reminds him that that is no longer an exclusive club.  Asa knows now, but Max is still around; she wonders what gives.  Max tells her that they have come to an understanding and she thinks that that is maybe what she and Max need to do, too.  Max doesn’t understand where this is all coming from or where it is going and asks if she has been drinking.  Skye vows that she hasn’t; in fact, she has never been more sober.  Max wonders if this is all about Rae.  She says that it is not, although she doesn’t want Rae to be her mother any more than he did.  Max assures her that if you swat Rae down a few times, she does go away, but Skye tells him that it is different with her. Max wasn’t her child and was pretending to be something that he wasn’t.  She wonders if he is really who he seems to be.  Max is again confused.  Skye explains that he hadn’t come to her and she hadn’t come to him; at first she didn’t know why, but after their kiss she does.

The Cherryvale Inn

Bo urges Colin to say what he has to.  He tells Lindsay that he is sorry, but he has to tell the truth.  She quips that he has nothing to say that people will believe.  Colin interjects that while the truth may be painful, it is always for the best.  Nora tells him to get on with it already.  Colin nears Sam and tells him to think back to the day of the infamous anonymous phone call that he received – the one that took him home to find Lindsay playing hide the gavel with a junior partner.  Lindsay points out that that is no secret.  Colin tells Sam that it was him who made the call; he did it because Jen called him up crying about her mother.  Sam can’t believe that he did such a thing when Jen trusted him.  Colin admits that he betrayed her trust and was a bad man, but says that he was merely trying to help her.  Sam can’t blame him for his mess of a marriage.  Lindsay tells Colin that he had no right to become involved, but he disagrees, saying that he was summoned by a family member.  He and Jen are close and he hopes that they get closer.  Sam goes after Colin and threatens to kill him.

Sam’s Place

Cris wants to know what Colin has done to Jen.  She calls Cris Einstein and tells him that she is leaving because she likes to have fun and Llanview is boring.  Cris doesn’t believe her; he is sure that something happened and implores her to tell him.  He promises that he will understand.   Jen breaks down and tells him that she is the one that caused her parent’s divorce and sent her mother off the deep end.

The Mansion

Max tells Skye that she can’t tell him that he doesn’t make her feel something.  She admits that she feels something.  Max tells her that he’s just not getting this. She tells him to get over himself; none of these things would have happened to her if she hadn’t been stupid enough to fall for him.  “Ouch!” Max complains.  She tells him that she doesn’t blame him; she blames herself.  She wanted him so badly and now that she has him she is asking herself what the big deal is, aside from the obvious.  Max tells her that she hasn’t given them a chance; he knows her and knows that her feelings can’t be gone.  She tells Max that it isn’t his fault; it’s her.  He is pushing all the right buttons, but she is disconnected.  Max tells her not to throw everything away, but she says that she can’t pretend.  He asks her to give him a chance to romance her – to court her.  He blew away Todd and Blair for her, knowing all the risks, and he would do it again.  He wants a chance to change her mind.  Skye tells him that it’s not her mind that needs changing, as he takes her in his arms and kisses her.

Sam’s Place

Jen says that she stayed away because she was blaming her mother for everything.  Cris tells her that nobody’s family is perfect, but her parents and Will love her and want her to stay there.  She points out that they don’t know the whole story; Lindsay has done horrible things, but they weren’t her fault, they were Jen’s.  She tells him that she is the one that made sure her father caught her mother in bed with someone else and now Colin is going to tell everyone that and everyone will hate her as much as she hates herself.  She runs out the door.

The Cherryvale Inn

Sam is threatening Colin and Bo pulls him away, telling Colin to stay away from Sam and his family or he will have to answer to him. Colin says that he is tired of this whole affair; everyone can go home.  Bo is sure that he has more to say and tells him to say it.  Colin tells everyone goodbye, saying that he is leaving this lousy town and should have done it much sooner.  He says that his first true love left him and took his livelihood with her then his second true love betrayed him and played with his heart.  He continues, saying that now that he has found a good source of income there are good times ahead for Colin, but not here.  He shows his “guests” a one-way plane ticket to Maui, saying he’s ready for some sun and fun.  He tells them that he won’t forget them and he won’t let them forget him; he will be in touch.  He adds that most of the people in the room have secrets that they don’t want anyone else to know, saying that he knows them.  When they least expect it, they will be getting a phone call from him.  He tells them to enjoy the rest of their lives if they can, and leaves.

Nora is sure that Lindsay is relieved that Colin didn’t say anything about her involvement in the kidnapping, but promises that she will find out what she needs to know.  Bo tells Nora that he doesn’t trust Colin and that she isn’t going home alone.  Sam offers to take her home and Bo agrees. Nora thinks that Sam should be home with Jen, but he insists on taking her home first.

Rae’s House

John and Rae are seated on the floor, playing gin rummy at the coffee table.  Rae wins again and John can’t believe that she has won four in a row.  She corrects him, saying that it was five, and tells him to pay up.  He thinks that he may have to rob a bank in order to do so and Rae tells him that only he can make her laugh in the middle of a mess like this.  He tells her that his motive is selfish; he loves to see her laugh and wishes he could do more to help.  She tells him that he already has; he had given her advice that she plans to take.  She is going to be patient with Skye and let her make the next move.  John is happy about this, but tells her that she must be prepared for the possibility that Skye won’t make any move.  She tells him that that will be difficult, but she will learn to accept it.  She just wishes that she knew how Skye was doing.

The Mansion

Skye tells Max that she is sorry; the kiss was pleasant, but it just doesn’t do it anymore.  She knows they are finished and that feels pretty good.  Max just doesn’t understand.  She tells him that she is dumping him and this is a first; she has been dumped by too many times by too many guys.  Max tells her that he is sorry that he isn’t celebrating.  Skye is happy and thinks that there may be hope for her after all.  She’ll be out there in the great wide open, dealing with the rest of her life.

Sam’s Place

Cris goes after Jen and drags her back in the house.  She tells him to let go of her, but he hugs her instead.

The Cherryvale Inn

Antonio comments that that was interesting and RJ quips that he has the gift of understatement.  Bo tells them all that they aren’t finished there yet.  He will be keeping in touch with them and if they have any secrets that they would like to share, now would be a good time.  Lindsay wonders how anybody could take Colin seriously.  Nobody takes Bo up on his offer and Bo tells Antonio and Roseanne that they can go.  Melanie tells him that she would like to help him, but says that she doesn’t even know Colin any more.  Bo tells her that they both know that it’s not over.

Nora’s House

Colin is waiting in the dark for Nora to return.  He pulls out airline tickets with the names Dr. and Mrs. Butler on them.

Sam brings Nora home and wants to come in and check things out, but she won’t let him.  She tells him that she will be fine and points out that things are locked up tight.  Sam remembers that Matthew is away visiting his grandparents and asks her to come and use his guest room, but she declines, telling him to go home to his daughter who needs him.

Nora comes in the house and hears something.  Colin is waiting in another room with syringe in hand.
