One Life to Live Recap for Friday, September 20, 2002

Antonio arrived at the police station and went directly into the Commissioner’s office, where Bo was helping a hotel owner whose property had gone through a string of robberies. The guy turned around and immediately recognized Antonio as being at his hotel with the woman whose car broke down the other night. Antonio confirmed that he was that person who the hotel owner saw. The owner said that he had no idea that Antonio was a cop, and that if he had known this, he would have asked Antonio to help. Antonio said that that area was not part of his jurisdiction. Bo intuitively picked up on Antonio’s situation and asked the owner not to say anything about Antonio being at the hotel because he does a lot of undercover work and they do not want to blow his cover.

The owner left, and Hank walked in. Hank asked Antonio if the hearing had started on his shooting. Hank offered to go in, check on the hearing, and see how things were going. Hank left, and Antonio asked if he could explain about what happened. He said that he was really hitting rock bottom, as Keri had just broken off their engagement and he was still dealing with the shooting. Bo said that he understood, because it was not that long ago that he had been under the same pressure when he shot Sam Rappaport. Bo told Antonio that the memories would not go away and that they would stay with him for a long time. Bo asked Antonio to tell him about the mystery woman. Antonio explained that he just met her that night, and that they helped each other a lot. He said that this woman encouraged her to find Keri and to tell her that he loved her, and to ultimately return to Llanview and back to his life. Hank interrupted and said that the committee was ready for both Bo and Antonio. Bo asked Hank how the committee seemed, and Hank responded that they were very, very tight.

After being in the hearing, they commented that the committee wasn’t really listening to all of the testimony and Bo said to Antonio that he needed to prepare for the worst. Antonio admitted that he had told Keri that as long as he had her that everything was going to be fine, but that he really wanted his job back, too. Bo told him that he deserved to be happy. Antonio told Bo that he never told Keri about the mystery woman because he never wanted to hurt her. Hank came in and said that the committee had reached a verdict: Antonio would be reinstated as a cop. Antonio was very happy, and after Hank left the room, he asked Bo not to say anything about the mystery woman and the hotel room. Bo said it was not his business, and it was not anyone else’s business either. He said to put the past behind him.

Keri and Liz remember the baby that Liz lost. Keri said that she understood why she wanted to have this baby, but that it was too risky, with the health issues at hand. Liz said that she felt right about having this baby, and that it certainly would not replace the baby that was lost so many years ago. Thinking back, Liz felt as though she never got to say good-bye to her baby because she saw her for a few minutes and then someone just took her away before she died. Liz mused that it was as if the baby never died. Keri asked why the surrogate backed out at the last minute. Liz said that they decided that it would not be a good time and not right for that time in their lives. Liz continued to try to convince Keri that she needed to have this baby. Keri said that she was just so afraid to lose Liz, with her heart condition. Liz said that she did not want this baby to grow up without her real mother. Liz said that she was very happy and for Keri not to worry. Keri said that she understood that her mother wanted to have Steve’s baby. Liz’s face dropped, and she half-heartedly agreed to Keri’s last statement.

Keri said that there was another way to deal with this situation: She offered to have the baby by being the surrogate mother!!! Liz said no, but Keri said that she wanted to do this. Keri said that she could not let her mother risk her life in order to have this baby when she knew that she was healthy and could have the baby in her place. Keri called Antonio to ask if it was ok to have the baby, and Liz started flashing back to the night with her mystery man. Antonio was not near the phone at the station because he was in the hearing, so one of the cops left a note for him to call Keri when he was finished. The note ended up getting buried under a pile of papers, and thus halting the chance of Antonio getting the message. Keri decided to go ahead and do it anyway, because she knew that Antonio would be so happy and completely willing to support this situation. Keri had her mind made up, saying that she would be happy to carry Steve’s baby. She left the room, and Liz said to herself that she wished that Steve was the father, but she knew that she was not. Liz said that she had to tell Keri that the father was not Steve, but then she realized that Keri never had to know that he was not the father.

Rex was still trying to put the screws to Roxanne so that she would help him keep Seth away from Michigan, and finding out “the truth about everything.” Rex asked Roxy what she thought Jessica would do if she found out that Roxy wasn’t her real mother, and that Roxy had kidnapped her when she was just days old. Roxy said that her ex-husband (Rex’s dad) was responsible for the kidnapping. Rex said that he would tell about what happened, and that Roxy would go to jail. After he said that, she agreed to do anything he wanted her to do in order for certain people to never find out what really happen. Roxy realized that Rex wanted money. Rex said to get money and bring it to Llanfair the next day. His next order was to call Seth and have him come over and stall/stop him from leaving town. Roxy did so, telling Seth that she had something really nice for “Jessie” and that Seth should come over and look at it. Seth agreed to come over. After hanging up the phone, Roxy asked Rex if that was good enough, and Rex said no.

Rex asked to know who Jessica’s real mother is. Roxy blew off his question, saying that he did not need to know that information. He said that Aunt Corrine knows, and that if Seth goes to Michigan, he would find out about everything. Seth rang the bell, and Rex hid in the back stairwell while they talked. Roxy presented Seth with a photo of her “grandparents” on their wedding day. Seth said that Jessica would like the picture, and said thanks. Roxy said not to thank her, but to thank Aunt Corrine, as she was the one who sent the picture. Then, she said that there was not a way to thank this woman because she left the country and did not leave a forwarding address. Of course, the sudden, out-of-the-blue discussion of Aunt Corrine made Seth very suspicious, and he figured out that Rex had put her up to this ploy. Seth left, more determined than ever to go to Michigan and find out the real story. Rex was angry with Roxy, saying that she blew the whole thing, and Roxy asked what they should do now. Rex said that he would stop Seth at all costs; because there was no way that, he could find out that Rex lied about being Jess’s real brother.

Natalie told Jessica that she was in love with Cristian. Jessica reacted in a surprising way: she was not happy about the newfound love situation. Jessica was still under the impression that Cris and Jen were very happy together, and that now, Natalie was trying to break them up. Jess asked where Jen fit into this happy little picture of Natalie’s. Jess asked if Natalie had done anything specific to break Jen and Cris up, but Natalie denied it. She said that she did not mean for it to happen, but it just did. Jess said that she just could not understand how Cris would suddenly want to break up with Jen after all of this time.

Natalie started to get really upset with Jessica’s questions and comments, and told Jess that she figured out why Jess was not happy with her news. Natalie said that Jess was not happy because she thought that the only person who was good enough for Cris was Jessica! Jessica said that just was not true. Natalie tried to explain why she and Cris became good friends through all the stuff that happened with her and Jess’s mom, etc. Natalie said that Cris was going to talk to Jen and tell her the truth, and that he was going to be over at Llanfair as soon as he finished talking to her. Jess did not believe it, and said that she has known Cristian a lot longer than Natalie, and that Cris will not show up. Jessica tried to convince Natalie that she was always falling into this pattern: falling in love with guys that were already taken. Both are getting increasingly angry at one another, as Jessica does not understand that Natalie did not do anything manipulative to get to this situation:  Cris and Natalie’s love for one another happened on accident. Jess told Natalie that she was going to end up alone and miserable waiting for a guy that was not even interested in her. She left, and Natalie reaffirmed her faith that Cris would show up at Llanfair soon and that he definitely loves her.

Jen told Cristian that she was pregnant. He asked her if she was sure, since they were always so careful. Cristian is obviously upset and not happy about the news, whereas Jen seems incredibly excited. Jen said that she could not think of any better way to show him how much she loved him. She said that she loved him so much, and she “knew” that he loved her so much, too. Cristian was still not able to put his feelings into words, and he said that he had to go to the bathroom and splash some water on his face. When he left the room, Jen said to herself that Cristian was going to have to pay for betraying her.

While Cris was in the bathroom, Lindsay knocked on the door. Lindsay came to tell Jen that she was staying in Llanview, and that she was not buying a gallery in Miami. She told Jen that she was going to stop upstairs to Troy’s loft to tell him that she was not moving away, “as a courtesy” since she had originally told him that she was definitely moving. She left and Cris came back out with a negative pregnancy test that he found in the bathroom. Jen claimed that that was the first test she took, and that the second one (which she produced at that moment) was positive. She said that the first one she took was messed up, and that the second one was right. Cristian said that he did not know for sure if she was pregnant, so he wanted to take her to the hospital to take a blood test. Lindsay interrupted again and came in because Troy was not home, and she asked if she could hang out for a while. She realized that she was interrupting something, and wanted to know what was going on. Jen said that she and Cris were in the middle of a conversation, so she told her mom that she had to leave so they could finish. She said that everything was fine, though.

Jen escorted her mother outside, and when they were alone, she told her mom that she should be so happy for her. Jen said that she had learned so much from her mother and that she was taking charge of her life. Lindsay had no idea about what she was talking, but said that she was proud of her daughter for making good decisions. When Jen went back inside, Cris said that they had to go the hospital right away to be tested for sure. Jen dug her heels in the ground, but ultimately agreed to go. At the hospital, Cris thought back to his promise to meet Natalie after talking with Jen, while Natalie waited for her love at Llanfair.
