LLANFAIR: THE FUGITIVES!!
Jessica and Seth arrive at Llanfair to find Ben on the floor. Jessica rushes to his side to help him up, and she asks him if he's okay. She asks him if Allison was the one who hurt him. He says no, but she'd been there. He tries to get up, saying that he has to call the police right away, but Seth tells him that he'll take care of that part. He steps out into the hall to make the phone calls and Jess asks him where her mother is. Is she okay?
Ben tells her that her mother is not okay, and Jessica is afraid. What does Ben mean? Where is Viki? Ben says he doesn't know, but they have got to find her. Jessica asks him to explain himself. What's wrong with her mother? Is she hurt?
Ben carefully tells her that Viki has split again. Her DID has come back. Jessica is terrified now. NO! That can't be! Viki went through hell to get integrated, and it took her a while, but she accomplished that feat some years ago.
Ben tells her that it's true. Niki Smith came back, and has been living with them for months now.
(And now, folks, the moment we've all been waiting for...Jessica's dinner hour! The main course.....CROW!!)
Ben tells her that Niki pushed him out the window, Niki set up Natalie, and it was Niki who was displaying the strange behavior they've been witnessing. Jess is still in shock, and continues to tell him that Viki would never let anyone hurt Ben, not even Niki Smith. Ben tells her: (and I'm Kaydee-paraphrasing, folks!),
"Maybe not, but she did this time!"
Out in the hall, Seth is on the phone and is interrupted by the doorbell. It's Rae-Ray, bustling in to see Viki. Seth tells Rae that Viki isn't there. Rae says then she has to see Ben, she has to warn them that Allison is out. She goes into the library, where Ben and Jess are conversing. They turn to face her and she says that she's there to warn them about Allison. She says she feels guilty about having been the cause of all this.
She granted Allison the unconditional release that started this whole mess.
Ben angrily tells her that they have a bigger problem than Allison to worry about right now. Jessica pipes in and says she still doesn't believe what Ben said about Viki. Her mother has been integrated for years. How could one of the alters have gotten out? Rae is really crushed now. She has to deliver the next blow to the Llanfair residents...she caused that mess, too!
"What??" Jess and Ben both exclaim. What is Rae talking about? Rae tells them that back in March, Viki came to see her. She tells them how Viki confided in her about some nightmares she was having about Niki Smith and a secret Niki was hiding.
Rae urged Viki to tell Ben, but she insisted that Rae keep it a secret. She told Rae that she wanted to contact Niki and find out what the secret was. Ben asks Rae how exactly was Niki supposed to be contacted. Rae fearfully reveals the hypnosis. She confesses all, how she brought Niki out and that she knew what she was doing...
(There goes that "I knew what I was doing" statemant again!)
She tells Ben that she invented a stop-gap that would put Niki back in. Ben snaps: "Well, guess what Gretel Rae-Ray? IT DIDN'T WORK! Niki's came out and never went back in! She's been living here withus since March!"
"Five months. Oh, my god, Ben! Even if Mom gets the proper help, will she ever be the same again?"
Rae tries to assure Jess that there's no reason to think that she can't be reintegrated, with proper therapy..
"Proper therapy?!" Ben screams, "What are you talking about, Rae? If she had proper therapy this would never have happened!"
Jess asks Rae how could she agree to hypnosis. After all of the years of hell Viki went through to integrate her alters, how could Rae endanger her like that? Rae tells her that it was what Viki wanted. Ben tells her to leave.
She does, after apologizing one more time. Jess, still in shock, repeats to Ben that she can't believe that her mother did this. How could this have happened?
Enter Rex, asking what's going on? Jess looks at him and suddenly, Niki Smith's existence becomes a reality. She tells Rex: "She was really rude to you, wasn't she?"
Rex tells her that it was no big deal, and Jess says it IS a big deal. Rex is confused about the whole scenario and Jess summarizes an explanation for him about her mother's history and the current situation. Rex is now beginning to understand why they all kept saying that Viki wasn't herself all those times.
Jess breaks down and tearfully asks Ben how could her mother do this? How could her mother be gone? Ben firmly reassures her that Viki didn't do any of that stuff, Niki did. And Viki isn't gone, she needs help coming back. Something they all are going to get for her... together.
PSYCHO SHOWDOWN AT THE ROXY!!
Niki comes to from Natalie's blow, and is about to leave when Allison comes through the door. Niki, startled, gives a nervous laugh and says..
"Allison Perkins!"
Allison says, in the flesh, and we've got a score to settle. Niki says she has no idea what kind of score Allie would have to settle with her. Allison tells her that she has a big score to settle with her. For one thing, she hasn't forgotten how Niki tried to strangle her in the courthouse restroom.
"Oh that?" Niki says nervously, "I was only kidding! I wouldn't hurt you, Allison. You're my hero!"
"Well, you're not mine!" Allison counters, backing Niki into a corner. Allison starts to rant about her hatred for Viki, and how everything she'd planned went bust. She tells Niki that she figured telling Viki about the baby switch would have destroyed her, but instead she winds up with two rich kids instead of one, and Allison got zilch. Now everyone hates her because of Viki. Niki nods in agreement, and Allison continues to ramble.
"But I've learned my lesson. I've learned that you can't trust anyone, and I won't make that mistake again. And now I'm gonna get my revenge on Viki."
Niki laughs, saying that Wackison is so stupid. Niki tells her that she already did extract revenge on Viki, and she doesn't even know it. Allison asks her what she's talking about, and Niki smugly says,
"You don't know. Nobody knows. Not you, not Miss Viki, nobody. Just me." Then she lets out a maniacal laugh and Allison angrily says that she hopes Niki's having a good laugh, because it's the last one she's going to have. Then she pulls out Rae-Ray's gun, stunning Niki.
Niki's laughter is cut short, (although... with the way Allison's hands were shaking the scene was really quite hilarious), and she starts trying to reason with Wackie. She starts telling her a million reasons why it would be a bad idea for Allison to kill her.
She'll go back to jail. Big deal, Allison retorts, it will be worth it. Besides, she'll only go back to jail if she's caught, and that's not gonna happen.
Sure it will, Niki says, someone will hear the shot, call the police, and they'll come after her, especially that she's already on the lamb.
Then a whole bunch of other reasons come spilling out of Niki's frightened mouth....Allison won't be able to get any money. She won't be able to hide out. HEY! They should team up like Thelma and Louise.
Allison asks her if she wants to drive over a cliff. Niki says not that part. She's talking about joining criminal forces. The cops are looking for both of them, but separately. If they team up, there's no stopping them. Niki lets out a mischievous chuckle and Allison's responds, (with a laugh that made me think I was watching an episode of SpongeBob Squarepants), and says,
"Nice idea. But I like mine better!" She redirects the gun's aim, rambling off about how Rae would probably roll over and die if she knew that she'd provided Allison with the weapon that killed Viki Davidson. Niki suddenly relaxes, and asks Allison if the gun she has belongs to Rae. Allison says,
"Yeah. Rae was kind enough to provide me with a safehouse, food, clothes, and a weapon."
Niki smugly dares her to shoot. Allison cocks the chamber and asks Niki if she has any last words. Niki says she does: "It's not going to happen, babe!"
Then she lets out her maniacal laugh again. Allison asks her what is so funny, and Niki calls her stupid. She tells her that Rae told her all about the gun. Some patient of hers gave her the thing for protection. However, Rae-Ray hates it, which explains why it was put away. Allison sarcastically asks her if her story is a long one or a short one...
Niki screams out that Allison can't kill anybody with a gun that ain't loaded!! Go on, shoot it! She laughs as Allison shoots and only gets a few quiet clicks. Allison lets a long crow's caw that was ill-described as a scream, and goes for Niki's head with it. Niki ducks, taunting Allison by saying that it looks like she will get a "good-bye" but not the one she'd planned for.
Niki races for the door, but Allison beats her to the punch, putting Niki in a poor imitation of a headlock.
THE HOLDEN CAVE:
Al sits at a desk placing a call. He asks the other party if there has been any new developments in the Rappaport fire. A few seconds later, he says that he's a family friend, and no he doesn't have any info. Realizing that he might be digging himself into a hole, he quickly disconnects from the call, just as Max walks in.
He jumps up and asks Max where Roxy is. She's usually planted right there, on the couch. Max says he doesn't know and doesn't care. She left one day and never came back. He just wants tonight to be about spending some peaceful quality time with his son. There's a knock on the door, and Max opens it to a bubbly Gabrielle. She races across the floor, squealing as she practically jumps into Al's arms,
"I want to hug my son..the hero!" Max is confused. Hero? Huh? What?
Gabrielle says: "You haven't told him yet? Well, he didn't tell me either. I had to read it at the Banner."
Gabby tells Max about Al's "heroic" rescue of Jen Rappaport. Al tries to tell them that it was nothing, but his proud parents won't hear of him being modest. Max says that what he did was definitely NOT something to be modest about. He ran into a burning building to save someone. Most of the Llanview Losers would have called 911 and started a weenie roast. Gabrielle tell Max that was a rather callous thing to say. Max shrugs it off and heads to answer his ringing phone. Al is uncomfortable and screams for his parents to stop making a big fuss about the incident already.
Gabrielle finds her son's outburst strange, and presses him to fess up. He tells her it's nothing, and all he wants to do is take a shower. So is she leaving, or what?
(Okay, break out the strap for this kid! If I ever spoke to my parents that way, I'd be lucky if I could SMILE the next day!)
Gabrielle isn't budging. Al did something, and something foolish. They both know that he still loves..(is obsessed with), Jen Rappaport, and she knows that he did something stupid to get her to love him. She knows because he's her son and they think alike..unfortunately.
Al tells her that he would never be as pathetic and desperate as she is..
(OKAAAAY, that's it! Break out that STRAP NOW!)
He knows that he's lost everything, and no matter what he does, or how many times he rescues her, he's lost everything. Gabrielle is angered by that statement and tells him that he's young, and he will find love again, with someone who loves him in return the way he should be loved.
Al shrugs her off, and they part ways.
LLANVIEW ER: REDEMPTION:
Nora and Troy are sitting in the sun room. Nora hangs up from a phone call she placed to check up on Matthew, and Troy informs her that she has been given a clean bill of health and can go home. He tells her that he is taking her and Matthew out of town until Loonsey is found.
Nora protests, but Troy stand firm, saying that he's not taking any chances.
Nora asks him if he's okay, and he says: Let's see: A woman has escaped from prison who wants us both dead, you were run over a bridge, and I nearly drowned tonight with the woman that I love. Other than that, I'm good.
(My point exactly..)
Troy goes on to say that if it hadn't been for Blair, Nora wouldn't have been anywhere near that bridge..
(And now for today's BLOOPER...Um, correct me if I'm wrong..but didn't Nora originally go to Blair's to get a matching PILLOW for the sleeping bag Starr gave Matthew?)
Nora tries to deflect Troy's accusations from Blair to her car trouble. Troy says her car trouble is not the point. And when he gets through with Blair, she's gonna wish she hadn't interfered. Nora points out to Troy that he just might have his chance...She points to the doorway, where Blair is standing.
Troy rips into a remorseful Blair about being to blame for Nora's accident.
When Blair hears the details and the time frame surrounding the accident, she feels terrible. She gives them a whole promissory speech and apology about never interfering again. Sam walks up just as she's explaining that her own pain led her to do bad things for good reasons in an effort to repair someone else's life. She explains that after what Todd did to her, she tried to avoid her own pain by trying to make Sam's and Nora's go away. In turn, all she really did was make three people hate her, especially the one friend she has, Sam. She asks Troy and Nora's forgiveness, which they give reluctantly, and Sam walks in. Blair is expecting the worst, but Sam tells her that she has been a good friend to him and he wants her to take a good look at her life and accept it as it is now, that way she can start to get over Todd and begin to heal. He knows her pain form firsthand experience, that's why he knows that the only way she'll be able to move on is to take his advice.
Then, he forgives her, and plants a tender kiss on her cheek before walking away.LOONVIEW TEEN BEAT: JUNIOR SLEUTHS IN TRAINING!!
Natalie rushes into the Atlantic City Police Department and frantically tells the desk officer that they have to send someone over to Roxanne Balsam's house right away. The desk officer dismissively asks her what's Roxy dons now? Drunken disorderly? Natalie, frustrated, tells him it's a matter of life and death.
The officer indifferently asks Nat for her name, she says Natalie Balsam.
Oh, Roxy's kid? Natalie says, yeah, sort of. Anyway, that's not the point. It's not about Roxy, it's about her mother.
Another "Who's On First" Abbott and Costello slapstick comedy session ensues between Nat and the idiot officer, and finally he tells her that all of his men is out chasing the fugitives. Natalie asks him who she can talk to to get help. The officer callously tells her to feel free to use the pay phone.
She barks that if she had the change to use the phone, would she have run all the way over here? He condescendingly slams some coins down on the desk and tells her with a sneering laugh to "knock herself out."
She grabs the change and heads to the phone. She calls Llanview PD, Bo's not there, neither is Antonio. She calls Llanfair, but the line is busy. She stops to think for a minute, then places one final phone call...
JEN AND CRIS: CONFESSIONS OF THE SOUL:
Cris stands distracted by the fridge in their loft. Jen comes over and tells him that he knows that he's thinking about all that's happened.
(That's what YOU think he's thinking! He's got some HOT stuff going on in his mind!)
She rambles on about how she's going through it with him. Her mother escaped from prison, Mrs. Davidson is not really Mrs. Davidson and she tried to kill her uncle, and to top all of that off, there was the fire. The fire marshal ruled it as a definite case of arson, but she can't think of who it could be.
They discuss that for a bit, and she tells Cris that she feels safe now, thanks to him. Cris steers the credit back to Al, for being there just in time.
Jen says, true, but only Cris really makes her feel safe.
Then the Natalie issue comes up. She's glad that Cris was there for her. Cris says, Really? She says yes, now that she knows the whole story. Cris is feeling a bit guilty about that, and she rambles on still. For Natalie to have DID.. To think that she tried to kill her stepfather..to find out that her own mother was setting her up..she really needed someone.
Cris corrects Jen by saying that Natalie doesn't have DID. Jen says she knows that, she just meant that the whole thing was crazy and she didn't help matters by being a jerk to them both. Cris tries to tell her that he was partly to blame for not being up front with her, but she still takes the blame.
She should have trusted him as he asked, but she didn't. She was cruel, and she doesn't want to be that way ever again..Cris' guilt becomes stronger, and he tells her that there's something he has to tell her about him and Natalie. Jen interrupts him, saying that she wants tonight to be just about them. He tries again, but the phone rings.
Natalie is telling him about the jam she's in at the Atlantic City PD, and he rushes off to help. He arrives just as Officer Jerk is threatening to arrest Natalie. She is relieved to see Cris and starts immediately asking him if he made any progress with the Llanview PD. Cris tells him that he was told that it's out of their jurisdiction, but since they're searching for Wacko and Loonsey anyway, they'd call the Atlantic City PD and tell them to listen to her.
Natalie apologizes for calling him again, but she couldn't get through to anyone else..she can't believe he drove all the way over here. She's is shocked when Jen walks in, saying that the drive was her idea. She wanted to help Natalie after the way she treated her. The call from Llanview comes through just then and the louse officer is forced to eat crow and assist her. The teens lead the cops to Roxy's shack, but no one is there. Natalie informs them that Viki's car is still there. They race outside to search the perimeter of the property.
Flash over to Rae-Ray's house..
Roxy, tied to a chair and gagging, tries to no avail to free herself from her binds. Frustrated, she screams for help against the gag. She looks around the cellar in a panic, and spots a coat rack over in a corner.
She hops the chair across the floor over to the coat rack, her poodle shag hairdo flopping wildly up and down with each hop of the chair, and manages to hook the side of her gag on to one of the hooks. She successfully gets the gag off of her mouth, and she lets out a loud, hoarse scream for help.
She turns her head in the other direction, and spots her cell phone hanging halfway out of her purse. "Come to mama," she says, hopping over in the other direction. She manages to get to the phone, and dial Max's number with her mouth..(You gotta teach me that trick, Roxy baby!)
Anyway, she tries to get Max to help, but he tells her to stop pretending to be a victim because her makeover was a flop. He tells her to stay wherever she is and don't call again. He hangs up, and a flashback of the day she held on tightly to her stolen silver Woman of the Year award and tearfully walked out of the house. Feeling that he was finally rid of his nightmare, he snaps his flip-phone back into place with a smug grin.
Roxy, feeling defeated and without hope, quickly recovers and tells herself that she has to get outta there before that nut case returns to finish her off...
Too late!! Allison returns, dragging a trunk down into the basement. Roxy asks her if she brought some old stuff from her apartment back with her.
Allison snaps: "How did you get that gag off?" Terrified, Roxy tells her it slipped off. Allison walks over to Roxy and begins to untie her.
She tells Roxanne that she double-crossed her, and Roxy asks: "What's the matter? Didn't you find the money?"
"You know I wouldn't have," Allison snaps. She pulls Roxy to her feet, then begins to tie her hands up behind her back. Roxy, in a panic, asks Allison what she's doing. Is she going to kill her? Allison says not yet. But she doesn't want to see or hear her. She shoves Roxy into a dungeon closet after replacing the gag on her mouth, and slams the door shut on a muffled, screaming Roxy.
She goes to the trunk and opens it, grinning smugly at what's inside.
