ONE LIFE TO LIVE RECAP FOR WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2001

<<< BACK TO RECAPS  INDEX

Ben is growing increasingly impatient as there's no sign of anyone coming to
meet him and Gina. She tries to calm him by offering him a drink. "We didn't
come here to socialize," Ben retorts. He decides he wants to look around
outside, but Gina is opposed. He's starting to think the whole thing is a
bad idea, Ben remarks. Just beyond the motel room, Asa is informing Nigel
that many of the buildings in the area will need to be demolished. They spot
Ben exiting the room. "Forget it, Gina. It's over," Ben states. Gina pleads
with Ben not to leave, and he eventually goes back inside. "You two-timing
swamp rat," Asa spits, as he vows that Ben will pay.

Gina wonders if Ben is afraid to be alone with her. He denies the
accusation, as she insists that she's no threat to him and Viki. Gina tells
Ben she wants him to be happy, and he wishes the same for her.

Jackie arrives at Viki's. He hasn't found Ben yet, but wanted to let her
know some new information. She invites him in, and he divulges that Gina
"never got over Ben." Before heading out, Jackie reassures Viki of Ben's
love for her. "This Gina broad, she ain't got a shot," he declares. Viki
remembers something she wants to ask Jackie. She opens the door to call him
back, and comes face to face with Asa instead. He demands to use her phone
so that he can have her locks changed, given that her no-good husband is
cheating on her. Viki assures Asa that he's quite mistaken about what he
thinks he saw. Asa swears that Viki doesn't realize what Ben is up to.
"Excuse me," the man in question says, as he walks in to the library. Asa
and Ben are immediately at each others' throats, as Viki tries vainly to
separate them. Gina observes the heated exchange with interest.

At Bo's, he and Lanie are enjoying their newly engaged status as he helps
her move in to his apartment. He wants her to feel free to change anything
she doesn't like. At first, she insists that she loves everything, but he
soon gets her to admit that she hates one of his chairs. The irony is not
lost on Bo, as he explains that it was given to him by Lindsay. He quickly
disposes of the offending piece of furniture. The duo are in the midst of a
kiss when the phone rings. It's Viki, who begs Bo to come over and escort
his father out. Bo heads to Llanfair.

Ben is warning Asa to back off just as Bo enters. The commissioner gets
between the two angry men and succeeds in dragging Asa away. Viki urges Ben
not to let Asa get to him. Gina, fascinated by the display she has
witnessed, wonders who the man is. Someone miserable, who hates his family,
Ben replies. Gina won't let the matter drop, as she queries why such intense
hatred is directed at Ben. "Who is he to you?" she asks. "He's nothing to
me!" Ben assures her, rather vehemently. Ben changes the subject as he
explains to Viki how he became uncomfortable when Gina's contact failed to
show. Gina swears that she'll get to the bottom of it. She leaves, after
promising to keep Ben informed. Viki expresses her delight to Ben that they'
re finally alone. He's sorry she had to hear all that garbage about him and
Gina, he remarks. Viki admits that she trusts him, but not Ms. Russo. At his
questioning look, she reveals that Gina is still in love with him. Ben is
not surprised, and lets Viki know that he'll deal with it. They embrace.

Melanie is unpacking when she hears a soft knock. She's dismayed to find
Colin at her door. He muses aloud about her not leaving him a forwarding
address and about her new living arrangements. He expresses his surprise
that she actually told Bo the truth. He surmises that her fiancé must be
covering up for her, since he didn't arrest her. "Bo is not a criminal," she
responds. Colin figures out that Lanie didn't confess her secret, but he
assures her that he won't hesitate to do so. "Why are you doing this?" she
asks. He gets what he wants, or she'll never be free of him, is Colin's
sinister reply. He threatens to take the story to the press, and demands
$100,000 to guarantee his silence. "Forget it!" Lanie retorts. "Cash, Lanie.
By tomorrow," he repeats. Lanie insists she won't let him ruin her
happiness. She can't stop him, he taunts her, before he leaves.

Bo returns home with Asa in tow. Asa doesn't want to stay, but Bo plans on
keeping an eye on his father. "There's nothing wrong with me that getting
Ben Davidson out of my life won't fix," Asa assures his son. Bo can't figure
out why Asa is still so obsessed with Ben. He expresses his belief that Asa
is scared of Ben, which Asa doesn't deny. He doesn't know why it is, but he'
s sure that disaster is coming, Asa declares.

At Rodi's, Antonio and Sophia are going over some files in the hopes of
finding a way to link the recent truck hijackings to RJ. They discuss the
fact that there may well be an informant in the department, which is why
Antonio is working on this with Sophia instead of with his new partner. He
admits to her that, besides Bo and John, she's the only one he trusts.

Meanwhile, Roseanne bursts into RJ's. Wracked with guilt, she tells him that
she's through working for him. She insists that she won't betray Antonio
again. "I quit," she declares. "What makes you think I'll let you?" he
counters. Roseanne warns RJ not to threaten her. He could tell Antonio, RJ
suggests. She won't submit to blackmail, Roseanne is quick to retort. Their
conversation is interrupted by a knock at the door. Roseanne is horrified to
hear RJ greet Antonio and Sophia. She finds a hiding place and listens in as
the two officers inform RJ that there have been a great many complaints
about noise coming from Break Bar. They're willing not to press charges,
however, if he'll cooperate in their current investigation. He feigns
disinterest as they discuss the truck hijackings and vow to make an arrest
in the case. RJ taunts the duo before they leave, then waves a wad of cash
in Roseanne's face. Is she really so sure she wants Antonio to know she was
the informant, given that he intends to put that person behind bars?

At the gallery, Will refuses his dad's invitation to a family night out. Sam
reminds him that they have a lot to talk about. "You're right, we do," Will
responds, his gaze fixed on Lindsay. She suggests that Jen and Sam head out
first, and she and Will can join them later. Father and daughter leave for
Rodi's.

Sam is stunned at Jen's prowess at darts. She reminds him that he taught her
how to play. They're having a good time, but the mood turns serious as Jen
wonders what's wrong with Will. She expresses her feeling that Will was
always Lindsay's favorite, which leads to a discussion about family
relationships. Sam reveals that Will had to become the man of the house
after the divorce, leading Lindsay to develop a certain dependency on her
son. Sam apologizes to his daughter for the toll the divorce took on her.
They go on to talk about why Jen stayed away so long. She ultimately
confesses that it was because she felt that "the divorce was my fault." Sam
assures her that it had nothing to do with either child, and that he and
Lindsay love them both more than anything. He promises Jen that he will
always be there for her and Will.

Will stares silently at his mother. "I think I know what happened," she
begins, as she surmises that he went to pay Colin the money that he caused
his uncle to lose. She lets him know that she'll soon be able to repay him,
as she shows him a sculpture that she's almost finished, which will earn her
a tidy sum. Wordlessly, Will picks up the piece, then smashes it on the
ground. "I know what you did. Colin told me. I know everything," he states.
Lindsay bends down to clean up the mess. "Whatever Colin told you." "Is all
lies?" Will finishes his mother's sentence. He informs her that Colin showed
him a photocopy of a check she wrote. Lindsay insists it's a trick on Colin'
s part. "Stop lying to me mom, and just admit it," Will demands. Lindsay
urges Will to calm down, but he accuses her of knowing that Nora was alive
for the entire time that her family thought she was dead. Lindsay eventually
cracks under her son's relentless gaze. "Yes. I knew," she whispers
tearfully. She insists she can explain. "Okay, explain," he responds -
explain it to Nora, to Sam, to Rachel and to Matthew. "I didn't have any
choice," Lindsay cries. She then tries to shift the blame to Colin, but Will
is no longer willing to give his mother the benefit of the doubt. "It was
for a man who didn't even want you," he spits, as he calls her pathetic. She
reacts strongly to this, then begins to ramble about how things would have
worked out if Melanie hadn't entered the picture. Lindsay admits that she
felt desperate - desperate for love. She assumes that he would know all
about that, given that he took the Foundation money for the same reason.
Will refuses to have his actions compared to those of his mother, and he
tells her that what she did was sick. She agrees that she was sick, since
she'd just lost her baby. Will is incredulous that she's now blaming the
baby. She never meant to hurt Nora, Lindsay swears. "You never mean to hurt
anyone, but you always do," Will retorts. He starts to walk out. "Will, are
you going to turn me in?" she asks, her voice wavering. "I don't know," he
murmurs.

A short time later, Will sits on a park bench, his head in his hands. The
words he'd heard earlier that day from both Colin and Lindsay echo in his
mind.

Lindsay arrives at RJ's. She rails at Colin for turning her son against her.
"You're going to help me take care of it," she declares to RJ. He wonders
what she means by that.
