Cristian is drowning his sorrows at the Palace Bar. Roseanne joins him and, judging by the expression on his face, she quickly surmises that he gave Will’s letter to Jessica. She also correctly guesses that Jessica freaked. Cris insists that he had no choice, lying to Jess was killing him. Roseanne still thinks he should have kept quiet. He admits that Jess walked out and went straight to Will. He’s bitter, since he never figured Jess would run to someone she claimed not to love anymore. “They can have each other,” he remarks. Roseanne encourages him to go after Jess, and offers him money to do so. He refuses her check, reiterating that he won’t chase Jessica. Roseanne persists, but Cris declares that Jessica left him with no hope. Roseanne tries to reassure him that things will get better.

Over in Ireland, Jessica arrives on Deborah’s doorstep. She spins a tale about touring the countryside with her friend, and reveals that she’d heard an American had been staying at the cottage. Deborah admits that ‘Bill’ was there, but that he took off when her husband, Liam, called the constable. Jess is horrified at the thought that Will is still being chased, and urges Deborah to call off the constable. Deborah is not sure she can, or that she should. She informs Jessica of exactly where Liam found ‘Bill’, and Jess is immediately concerned for his health. Deborah reminds her that the young man in question was obviously well enough to run away. Jessica begs for Deborah’s help in slowing the constable down. She thanks the Irishwoman for taking care of ‘Bill’, then takes off to find him.

Meanwhile, Emma finds Will a new place to hide, since the school stable will be overrun with returning students the following day. He thanks her for all she’s done for him, but he also sets her straight – “Jessica’s the only one for me.” Disappointed, Emma nevertheless suggests that Will pray for himself and Jess. She hopes that he’ll be safe. A short time later, Will hears a noise in the graveyard and quickly ducks out of sight. It’s Jessica. As Will attempts to make a silent retreat, he stops short when he hears the voice of the woman he loves, praying that she’ll find him. Jessica turns, and comes face to face with Will.

Back at the Palace, Max meets with Asa, who is in full rant mode as he complains bitterly about the loss he suffered in the courtroom earlier. He expresses his fury at Bo’s siding against him and vows to “wipe that entire tribe off the face of the earth.” Max wonders what his ‘Pa’ has in mind, but Asa keeps mum. He does admit that he knows just the person to help him, though – Max. Max is less than comfortable with this idea and tries to rein Asa in by suggesting they go about things legally. Asa will have none of this, especially considering that the judge he bought turned tail and ran. Asa rails at the fact that Ben is still walking around free when he almost had Max killed. Max insists he wasn’t the target of the hit, but Asa is beyond reason and swears that Ben will pay, “in his own blood.” Max warns his ‘Pa’ that Bo will put Asa away if he continues his vendetta against Sam and Ben. Asa denounces Bo and, once again, urges Max to assist him in his quest to “kick the Rappa-Davidsons into the next life.” Max respectfully declines. He then spots Cristian and speculates that the young man may just know where Will is. Seizing an opportunity, Max suggests to Asa that he lay off Ben for a while and they can go after Will. If they follow Jessica and Cristian, they’ll be able to put Will in Statesville, and Asa will have his revenge – legally. Asa approves. Max then maneuvers himself into a booth that allows him to eavesdrop on Roseanne and Cristian. She offers her former husband money once more. In a day, he could be with Jessica, she reminds him. Roseanne berates herself for being the cause of all that’s happened. Max’s ears perk up when he overhears that Jessica knows where Will is.

At the hospital, Lindsay tries to convince Colin that Nora’s memory loss is a gift. Colin is appalled. Doesn’t Lindsay see all that Nora has lost? Lindsay opines that Colin is simply upset because “Scarlett” doesn’t remember him. He counters that he admires Nora, but Lindsay figured he had some fantasy about Nora running into his arms when all was said and done. She suggests he’d better pray that Nora never remembers him, or what he’s done. Colin glances over at Nora, then tells Lindsay that, if she wants him to forget Nora, “you’ll have to erase some of my memories, too.” Lindsay warns him that if he keeps mooning over the patient, people will get suspicious. He insists his interest is merely professional. Lindsay swears that, if he jogs Nora’s memory, he’s a bigger fool than she thought.

In Nora’s room, Larry informs Hank that the tests they’ve done so far do not indicate any brain abnormalities. The two men discuss the possibility that her condition could be either emotional or psychological, since there’s no apparent physical cause. They speculate on who could have cared for Nora, since the x-rays taken show, among other things, that her pelvis had been broken. Talk turns to what Nora remembers. Hank confirms that Nora does remember Rachel, and that Ms. Gannon is on her way. Larry wonders about Matthew. Hank remarks that Nora seems to have no clue that she has a son.

Nora awakens, and Hank moves to her side. She laments that she feels her life is like a book with the end pages ripped out. While she realizes that she’s supposed to know Sam and Bo, they mean nothing to her. She confesses that some of her memories almost seem within her grasp at times, but then they elude her. Hank notices a strange look cross her face. He turns in time to see Colin just outside Nora’s room. Instantly suspicious, he asks her if she knows the man, but Nora has no recollection of Dr. MacIver.

Moments later, Nora is alone as Colin enters her room. She recalls that he was at the house. “Do I know you?” When he replies that she doesn’t, she mutters, “Well, that’s a relief.” He introduces himself and goes on to say that he’s done studies on memory loss and has acquired lots of useful information. She tells him that, if he can help her remember anything, “that would be lovely.” Colin smiles. He’s gone by the time Hank returns to Nora’s side. “Where are those memories you promised me?” she quips. He doesn’t know where to start, but explains that they’re no longer married and that Rachel’s all grown up. Talk turns to Sam and his place in Nora’s life, but their discussion is interrupted by Rachel’s arrival. Nora is stunned to see her ‘baby’. The two women share an emotional reunion and Rachel vows to help her mother regain her memories.

Chez Rappaport, Sam and Bo offer a toast to Nora. They discuss the fact that Sam never gave up and always ‘felt’ Nora’s presence. Bo suggests that perhaps Sam had something with Nora that Bo never did. Sam is grateful for Bo’s generosity. They go on to ponder where Nora has been all these months. Sam reiterates his opinion that Colin and Lindsay kept her confined. Bo vows to nail Dr. MacIver if he held Nora against her will. He laments the fact that all of Nora’s memories may be gone forever. Including those of the two men who love her the most, and he son Matthew, Sam adds. Speaking of the boy, Bo wonders what Sam has decided to do about Matthew. Sam confesses that he can’t deal with the paternity question just now. Bo apologizes for putting pressure on him. Sam expresses his wish to do what’s best for his family, and he wants to be sure of the facts before he tells Nora anything. Although he hasn’t made a final decision, it’s obvious that Sam hasn’t ruled out having another DNA test performed. Bo leaves, and Sam picks up the phone.

Bo tracks Melanie down at work. They discuss Nora’s return. Melanie suggests he might need someone to talk to. “That’s why I’m here,” he grins. He expresses his feelings about Nora being alive and explains the reasons behind his inability to grant Nora forgiveness when she asked for it. He adds that he thinks he’s been given a second chance. “With Nora?” Melanie quizzes. No, with her, Bo answers. He tells her that he didn’t buy her story about going back to Colin, so he wants to know why she lied. Melanie denies that she was running from anything. Bo observes that she and Colin don’t seem particularly friendly, and she admits that they’re getting divorced. She was glad to see Bo, she adds. He believes that there’s something between them, but he needs to know why she’s been pushing him away.

Ben arrives at Sam’s. He’s a bit breathless, wondering at the urgency of Sam’s call. Sam divulges that Todd found Nora. “She’s alive.” Ben is overjoyed and hugs his brother, before noticing his subdued reaction. Sam explains Nora’s memory loss. Ben questions Sam at length, then offers the opinion that Nora needs to be checked out. Sam informs him that Hank took Nora to the hospital, then bemoans the fact that, even though Nora’s back, “she’s more lost to me than ever.” Ben tries to reassure Sam, who confesses that he’s decided to have Matthew tested. “No, Sam, you can’t do that!” Ben exclaims. Sam is startled by the vehemence of Ben’s rejoinder. “Sam, do you love Matthew?” Ben asks. Sam laughs, figuring it’s a rhetorical question. Ben insists that a test will only give Asa another chance to take Matthew away from their family. Sam counters that could only happen if Matthew was not his, which isn’t the case. So why have the test if he’s sure? Sam wonders if Ben is worried that Matthew isn’t Sam’s biological son. “What is a family? … It’s people connected by a shared upbringing, values and most of all, love,” Ben declares. Sam can’t understand why Ben is so worked up over this. Ben goes on about the meaning of family and adds that he’d “still be a part of this family even if I didn’t share one once of blood with you.” Sam’s suspicions are aroused. He recollects that Ben has been acting strangely ever since the night he saved Asa in the tack room. Ben tries to evade Sam’s questions, but his brother is persistent. “Something is going on,” Ben finally admits, and he guesses that Sam has a right to know.

Ben and Sam rehash the circumstances under which Sam left the Davidson household. Ben expresses his fear of losing Sam a second time. Sam assures him that won’t happen, but Ben counters that “you can’t promise anything until you’ve heard what I have to say.” Sam insists that Ben can tell him anything. They’re brothers. Ben agrees that that’s true, in every way but one. “Biologically, genetically, we’re not brothers.” “What?” is all Sam can manage. “My mother is Renee Buchanan. I’m the missing son, not Max,” Ben reveals. Sam is stunned as the implications sink in. “That would make you…” “Yeah, that would make me… I’m Asa’s son.”
