Kelly Discusses Adoption with Rae
Rae tells Kelly the adoption plans will probably be stalled because of The Sun‘s assertion that Kevin is a playboy. Kelly says she can't wait years to adopt a baby, so Rae suggests marriage counseling. However, Kelly is adamant that her marriage is fine, and a baby will make things better. Sneaky David eavesdrops from the corner and approaches Kelly when Rae leaves.
Kevin's Conversation with The Governor
Governor Brooks tells Kevin that Dawes has requested a favor to place a colleague on staff. Kevin says he can't cut a deal with a man who tried to kill Kelly, but the governor says there is no evidence, and politics is all about compromise. You should keep your enemies close.
The Hostage Situation
Flynn tells Nat that Chris is dead, but she won't believe him because she would feel it. Flynn calls Blair and tells her that Walker is dead, but Nat yells for her not to believe it. He says that Natalie will die next, and he fires his gun as a warning. Flynn almost tells Blair that Walker is Todd, but Nat escapes at that moment.
A Black-Market Baby?
David tells Kelly he can get her a baby. Kelly reminds him that Kevin is a state politician, and she shouldn't be talking about an illegal adoption. However, David paints a pretty picture of a young, poor mother who needs to give her baby a good home while receiving some money for a better life, and in turn, the baby is placed with loving parents. Kelly shows interest. Later, David calls someone about a baby and says money is no object.
Good-Bye, Max
Max tells Asa and Renee that he's leaving Llanview. When Renee asks Max if he'll ever return, he says that he's left nothing in Llanview except regrets. He apologizes for scamming them into believing he was their son and says it started out a scam, but he came to cherish the sense of family they gave him. Renee says he was forgiven long ago and he'll always be a son to her. He says his real family has been waiting in North Carolina, and he needs to go be with them. They hug, and she cries on his shoulder. Asa says good-bye "Asa fashion." He says Max made a lousy son, but he'll make a great father.
Kelly Talks to Kevin about Adoption
Kelly tells Kevin she found a quicker way via private adoption. Kevin thinks it sounds awful, but she tries to place David's cheery spin on the topic. Kevin tells her he can't do an illegal adoption. It would ruin his career, but she reminds him that setting up Dawes with a prostitute wasn't exactly a squeaky clean deed. However, Kevin tells her that was Asa, and Kevin won't be part this.
The Plan to Save Natalie
Flynn captures Natalie again, and she tells him he won't get away with it. Flynn waits for Ross to arrive with the money. Meanwhile, we see that Ross has agreed to work against Flynn. McBain, Walker, and Christian are fine, and they've set up an ambush. Walker leaves.
Tension Between Kelly and Kevin
Kelly is home when Kevin's P.I. shows up with some new information, and Kelly accuses Kevin of investigating Walker because he's so obsessed with Blair. She says to Kevin, "Look me in the eye and tell me you don't love her!"
Max Says Good-bye to Blair
Blair tells Max that Nat is being held hostage and Walker might be dead. Max tells her everything will work out okay, but Blair thinks Flynn is more evil than Mitch. Max tells her Nat is strong. He tells her he's leaving town, and they hug. She says he always shows up at the right time and "I knew there was a reason I always fell in love with you." He'll be missed.
Kelly Had an Affair!
Kelly accuses Kevin of being focused on Blair, and he says it's just her imagination because she feels so guilty about her own affair in Texas! Finally it's out...the actors have been alluding to that for months. However, they stop short and don't say anything more. Everyone has thought Kevin is such a sleaze, but Kelly didn't even flinch when he mentioned her affair. She just moved on to the subject of a baby, and then leaves to accuse Blair. Afterward, Kevin finds the information he's been wanting. The P.I.'s envelope contains "then and now" photos of our beloved Todd. Kevin knows!
