Okay, I have been going over and over the storylines on 'One Life to Live' and I have decided that there is only one storyline that has even a hint of reality and that is Jessica and Brody’s relationship and let’s face it, these two people have more unrealistic stuff in their backgrounds (Jessica, of course, more than Brody) than most “normal” people would have. The problem is that instead of seeing more of the nice relationship that is developing between Jessica and Brody, we are “treated” to an overkill of garbage from the likes of every other lunatic on the show. We don’t have any balance to the nonsense that is going on every day on this show.
So, we have Matthew and his totally unrealistic plan to hire Tea to represent him in court as he sues his parents for the right to have surgery (and in soap world he’ll probably win). The only realistic thing about this is Bo telling him how slim his chances are in going up against the Commission of Police and the District Attorney. But you just know that Tea, who should never have taken the case in the first place, will find a way to make a good case for Matthew in court. It’s not that I don’t feel for Matthew, but I can totally see his parents’ point of view and their fear that they could lose him. I found it interesting when a very upset Nora confronted Tea about representing Matthew and told her that some day if she had children she would understand her and Bo’s feelings. Tea’s expression made me wonder if she in fact does have a child somewhere and whether or not that is the big secret she is keeping. And we all know that the most annoying part of all this is that Tea would love to go up against Nora in court and she has no business telling Nora how she should feel when it comes to her own child.
I was also thinking about the fact that Tea was very evasive when Nora asked how Matthew was paying for her services and while Nora first thought Tea was helping Matthew on a pro bono basis, Tea led her to believe that her fees were taken care of. I wonder if Tea is getting paid and who is the benefactor? Could it possibly be Uncle Clint, even though he seemed surprised to hear about Matthew’s lawsuit? Clint disagrees with Bo and Nora and he could be stupid enough to get involved. And as usual, Clint is over at Viki’s, crying on her shoulder again about Bo and Nora and Viki just stands there as always, looking like she thinks he’s some kind of fool. She tells him he should apologize to Bo and Nora and he asks, “For what?” Yes, Clint is a fool, but he does go to Nora and Bo, apologizes for the conflict and once again asks Bo to be his best man. What he didn’t expect was for Nora to say she couldn’t marry him in two days. Clint takes a long time to understand how upset Nora is about Matthew and the court case and he finally agreed to postpone the wedding if it was what she wanted. I’ll be that choked him.
Dr. Greg Evans doesn’t have a care in the world that his young sister, Destiny is heading up the campaign to have him do Matthew’s surgery. She’s doing his dirty work for his big ego. He is hell bent on doing the surgery and is happy to let Destiny lead the charge. So far he presents himself as nothing more than an egotistical blowhard and that was never more evident than when Rachel knocked on his hotel room door and he answered in his underwear, just standing there pleased with himself. Obviously, it was no big deal to him or Dr. Wright (whom he had just slept with) to be half dressed when another woman came to the door. This guy annoys me on so many levels and sure enough, Rachel wound up with something spilled on her shirt and was coming out of the bathroom buttoning it up just as Shawn showed up and got the wrong idea. Do you think Greg cared that he got the wrong idea? I think not. Anyway, Rachel set Shawn straight and he apologized profusely to Rachel and Greg. Shawn only came by to make peace and give his brother another chance and I’m sure he’ll soon regret that.
Greg has come off looking like a hero because one of Rachel’s clients hit his head in an accident and Greg rushed him to the hospital when everyone thought the kid was fine. Sure, it turned out that Brendan needed Greg to relieve the pressure on his brain before he died and Greg the God came through. So why was Rachel at Greg’s hotel room thanking him for Brendan’s parents instead of them going there personally? Stupid right?
Then we have John and Blair who are divorcing. That’s no big surprise. John goes to see Blair after he hears from Tea that she slept with Todd, but he’s not there to chastise her. They both realize that their marriage of convenience is over and Blair is kind of embarrassed about sleeping with Todd because she doesn’t want John to think less of her. Blair said she would get on with filing for the annulment when John pops up with divorce papers. Blair was surprised because she figured she’s get an annulment which would be like saying the marriage never happened. John said he didn’t want that because the marriage did happen and it did mean something. He was a real gentleman and you could see that he really cares about Blair and she was touched by what he said. It’s too bad she will never get over that slime, Todd because she could have had a good life with John.
