REFLECTIONS BY JILL - May 25, 2009

Jared and Natalie

Copyright by ABC Daytime, 2009
Does anyone even know why the writers threw a wedding for Natalie and Jared into the mix right now? The senseless, haphazard way they all of a sudden got married without a proper wedding tells me that this great love (not) won’t last forever. I don’t know about any of the other fans, but while I did think that Jared had a fighting chance of becoming a valued citizen of Llanview after the whole “Tess locking them in the basement” fiasco was over, he has not proven to be a very interesting character and certainly not a romantic leading man for Natalie.

At least the murder mystery is solved. Of course Rebecca is able to get into Llanfair with no trouble and sneaks up to Chloe’s room. I guess like everyone else who just walks into that mansion and is asked how they got in; Rebecca could probably give the usual answer, “Lois let me in.” Doesn’t Lois let everyone in? Rebecca hides in the corner while Jessica checks on the baby but later is able to kidnap her and then everyone gets frantic.

So, Natalie and Jared finally had to give up the information they have and the secret they have been keeping when the truth started coming out to Viki, Clint and Charlie. Jessica just kept unraveling more and more as the day went on and as she kept having flashbacks of Bess being involved in taking care of things after her baby was born. Somewhere inside herself, Jessica realized that Chloe wasn’t hers and she wouldn’t let her out of her sight once Todd and Marty brought her to the hospital. It didn’t take long for Bess to come out and take over. Wasn’t it convenient that the doctor left his glasses lying on the table so she could really become Bess and get away with the baby? I guess Bess’s vision is fine through any eyeglass prescription (very silly) and she’s able to drive with the doctor’s glasses on.

Bess refuses to answer the phone when Viki and Clint both try to call her but she answers a third call thinking she’ll tell Clint to back off when it is really Brody calling. Brody gets Jessica to come out for a minute and she has no idea where she is or why Bess came out. Viki takes the phone and tries to talk to Jessica but Bess comes right back out when she hears Viki’s voice and then she’s on the road again with the baby.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch (the KAD house), John takes out Rebecca and goes upstairs to find Powell holding Marty, Blair and Todd and Powell is about to end the misery that is Todd’s life. Of course, John fires first and saves Todd’s sorry butt yet again. Instead of teaching his kids what a creep John is, Todd should be kissing John’s feet. Powell had handed Chloe over to Marty (who now has her whole memory back) and before he aimed the gun at Todd, told them about Chloe being Starr’s baby and their grandchild. Once Powell is taken care of, John sends Todd and Marty to have the baby checked out and let their kids know they are okay and he stays behind to find Blair and Tea.

I had to laugh because of the unoriginal content of those scenes between Blair and Tea. If you remember as I do, several years back, Hugo Monroe locked Dorian and Viki in that basement (at the time it was the basement in Dorian’s house and the same set) and also tried to kill them with escaping gas. Blair was levelheaded like Viki was and Tea was hysterical like Dorian. At the time, Ben and Kevin rescued them (that’s why I remember it so well) but before they were rescued, the women went through the same routine. They talked about how they couldn’t stand each other and then kind of wound up putting their animosity aside when they thought they were going to die. Blair and Tea did the same thing. They agreed on the most important thing in their lives and that is that they hate each other and as Tea admitted that as sick as it is, Todd is the love of her life and she made Blair admit that it was the same for her. She brought up the fact that Blair might care about John, but she will never love anyone like she loves Todd and Blair couldn’t disagree. The most painful thing for Tea was when she had to admit to Blair, “Todd only really ever loved you.” I did get a little nauseous when Tea said that she didn’t want to die that way; she wanted to die in Todd’s arms and she knew Blair wanted the same thing. Oh, these women need a reality check BIG TIME!

Of course John found Blair and Tea and just as he was about to get them out, Rebecca resurfaces. I thought she was dead but she didn’t even look like she had a scratch on her. No one was more surprised than John when she showed up in the basement, smelled the gas and lit that match. And yes, John, Blair and Tea did manage to get out in spite of the explosion, even though Tea was badly hurt and rushed into surgery. Do they want us to believe that Rebecca caused that explosion right in front of John and she’s the only one that bought the farm?

Michael and Marcie found out that the baby they exhumed could not be Starr and Cole’s baby. Cole automatically thinks their dead baby is somewhere else while Starr thinks the baby could be alive. Two points for you, Starr.
