Guns ‘N Roses - OLTL Recap for Wednesday, December 3, 2008

At the diner, Nora and Marty join John McBain at his table. The former detective is visually uncomfortable with their arrival so the DA tells him she needs his help to put Manning away. Nora takes a phone call and apologies for having to leave. She needs to meet with hospital doctors to negotiate Manning’s release. John agrees to order lunch for Marty and then give her a lift back to Nora’s. As the two eat, they talk about Marty’s days with Todd.

At Llanview Hospital, the guard escorts Viki into Manning’s room. She is furious with him about keeping his knowledge of Jess’s alter blackmailing him as well knowing she was responsible for Natalie’s disappearance. Viki is disgusted that when John told her his suspicions of Tess being at Todd’s, she instead believed her brother! Todd tries to pass it off as all ended well for the girls and no one was hurt. He also rationalizes that he would have done anything for the love of his life, Marty. His sister accuses him being delusional. He yanks off his bandage and shows her stitches where his old scar once was. When he says he hurts everyone he comes into contact with, Viki concurs and tells him he has no one to blame but himself! He softly responds that Marty loved the new him and not the one from the past. “Constructing reality is not love! You narcissistic bastard! You are our father’s son!” his sister screams. She leaves. The guard comes in and Todd subtlety eyes the officer’s gun.

Outside the hospital nursery, Natalie and Jared peer through the window in awe of the newest Buchanan addition. Nat feels that in spite of their messed up family, when she sees Chloe, she sees “Hope.” Both agree it’s hard to forget what Tess did to them; however wish that Jess could forgive them for what happened to Nash. Viki joins them and tells them that Chloe is coming home today. She still can’t understand how Starr was perfect during her pregnancy and lost her baby; yet this baby was born under the worst circumstances and thrives.

In another part of Llanview Hospital, Starr, Blair, Dorian, Marci and Michael are meeting with Dr. Joplin. She explains in medical terms how Hope died of RH disease. Dorian explodes. Any good doctor would do prenatal blood tests and taken precautions if there had been any indication of this. Michael supports the doctor and says it’s very rare on the first pregnancy to encounter RH disease. Normally it’s found with the third baby! (Remember this is Jessica’s third pregnancy) When Lord demands to know why there was no record of Hope at the neo-natal ICU, Dr. Joplin has a flashback of Todd ordering the announcement of the baby’s death and then giving him the baby. The obstetrician responds that the baby was dead before she could get her to neo-natal. Dr. Joplin cries and assures Starr that the teen was a model patient. As the group leaves, Dorian glares at the doctor.

Across town at St. Ann’s, Jessica is meeting with her shrink. She asks him to “skip the basket weaving” and “put her recovery on fast-forward” so she can get her kids back. Dr. Levin wants to know more about the new alter. Jess explains that she didn’t even know about Bess until this recent episode. The doctor explains after talking to Viki, he’s found Bess is a parallel to Viki’s alter, Jean Randolph who cleans up after messes. The doctor finally convinces Jess to try hypnosis and before the shrink can count to five, Bess bolts up, grabs the doctor’s glasses out of his pocket, dons them and politely introduces herself. Bess confirms that she is the alter who seeks order. She has a flashback of holding Hope and swearing never to let Jess know her baby died. She advises the shrink that Jess needs to be home with family. The doctor accuses Bess of blocking the integration and suggests talking to Tess. “I protect her from knowledge which will destroy her,” the blond responds. The shrink demands to know what she’s hiding!

Marty apologizes to John for the entire lunch conversation being about Todd. They both laugh and smile at each other as Blair gazes at the duo through a diner window. Over at the hospital, Dr. Joplin is also sadly gazing at her son’s picture on her desk. A few feet away at the nursery window, Starr joins Viki with a bouquet of roses. The flowers are for Jessica, the teen explains. Viki explains that her daughter has been moved to St. Ann’s and takes the flowers. Starr asks which one is Chloe. Viki points her out as the baby beams at a smiling Starr. Meanwhile at St. Ann’s, Jessica has fallen asleep and suddenly bolts off Dr. Levin’s couch as Tess. She runs to the door. It’s locked! She screams at the doctor and wants to know what he’s doing about them giving Jessica the wrong baby! Back at the hospital, Todd moves toward the guard. Outside Manning’s room, Nora hears a gunshot from within!
