As Rex and doctors battle for Balsam’s life, his friends hold vigilance in the Llanview Hospital waiting room. Jared is concerned as he’s left Natalie several messages about Rex. Perhaps she’s in Africa with Viki and can’t get to a phone, he reasons. Roxy shows her vulnerable side and collapses on the floor when she hears about Rex. Bo explains that it was an accident. He believes Brody is suffering from post-traumatic stress and didn’t know what he way doing when he started shooting. Rex was a hero by throwing himself in front of Gigi and Shane. Leyla unsuccessfully tries to reach Adriana. In another part of the hospital, Shane exhibits defiance as his mom carefully tries to explain why she kept the truth from him.

Over at Llanfair, Natalie is distraught as Tess shows no compassion to releasing the redhead so she can be at the hospital for Rex. Nat even promises to give up Jared if her sister will release her. Her pleads are for nothing – Tess is in control. The blonde turns off the TV monitor and snuggly announces that her sister will never leave the basement.

As one of the doctor’s mumbles, “This guy’s in bad shape,” Rex travels to a game show set similar to “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” but called “So You Think You Can Be Shane Morasco’s Father!” and hosted by deceased Colin MacIver! Balsom is told he has to answer several questions correctly to win. Defending champion is war hero Lovett. Rex finds himself being booed by the audience and them chanting, “Brody! Brody! Brody!” (sounding similar to the Jerry Springer chant).

While the doctors try to control the bleeding, Rex faces the reality of just what an undeserving person he is to want to become Shane’s father. As Jen and Lindsay join host McIver, Balsom is reminded that he tried to burn down the community center, blackmailed RJ, planned an art heist and slept with mother and daughter at the same time! When he tries to explain he loved them both, he realizes that it was no different loving than Adriana and Gigi at the same time. More of his ugly past rears through questions involving hiding Tommy’s true parentage and scamming heiress Jessica Buchanan. Things are looking very bleak for Rex winning the game.

Dr. Michael McBain enters the waiting room and briefs the anxious group about Rex’s fight for his life. He then returns to O.R. to join the operating room staff in what seems a useless battle. Michael yells at the young man not to give up! Balsom faces his final question on the game show. He’s shown eight faces --- Bo, Charlie, RJ, David Vickers, Mitch Laurence, Snoop Dogg, Cain Rogan and Jackie McNaughton and is asked which one is his biological father!

Back at the hospital, Roxy has the group join hands and pray for her son. Gigi and a much calmer Shane join the group. Rex asks to use his last lifeline and calls his mom to ask her who his father is. It seems to take forever for Rex to get through the list to his mom – including clarification that it’s David Vickers the person and not the dog. As she hesitates, he explains it’s a matter of life or death. “Your dad is” --- click --- the line goes dead. Rex is out of time! He gives his answer – Bo Buchanan! “Wrong!” shouts McIver and proclaims Lovett the winner. As the audience cheers for the war hero, Rex desperately shouts, “Wait!” He flat lines in O.R...
