Shane wants nothing to due with Rex as he explains that he wants to change his last name to Lovett, like his father. Gigi and Rex are less than thrilled; Brody claims he had no idea. Gigi tries to talk Shane out of it; meanwhile, Rex tries to do the same thing. Shane pushes Rex away and tells Rex that he hates him. Rex pulls Gigi aside and tells her not to tell Shane that he’s his father – he doesn’t want to hurt Shane anymore that he has. Gigi talks with Shane and tries to convince him to keep his last name, Shane promises to think about it. Gigi tells Brody that she is not keeping this secret any longer.

Charlie and Roxy talk about their respective relationships with their children. Charlie thinks that Rex will come to his senses and forgive Roxy – using himself and Jared as a prime example. Roxy is beside herself that her son hates her, Rex shows up and tells Roxy she has a grandson – however, no one can ever know about it. Charlie leaves them to talk in private, promising to Rex that he won’t say a word. Roxy explains that she knows what it’s like to have your own kid hate you, Rex apologizes for the way he’s been treating Roxy. Roxy is glad that they are talking again and comforts Rex in his time of need.

Langston is beside herself that Dorian even asked if she could adopt her. Starr overhears and is elated as well. From a little bit of coaxing, from both Starr and Dorian, Langston agrees to have Dorian legally adopt her. Dorian is elated and plans on throwing a huge party in Langston’s honor. Langston calls Markko to tell him the good news. Nora catches Clint talking to Jared about Langston, Nora is appalled that Clint shows no sympathy for a girl who’s lost both her parents and has gone through a lot in her young life. Clint rationalizes by saying Dorian and Langston will live happily ever after, but in order to do that he has to use Langston to get to Dorian. Markko, who is there to see Cole, overhears Clint. Clint puts a spin on it; Markko wishes that Clint and Dorian could get along because, after all, Dorian is adopting Langston. Dorian asks Clint if he’s changed his mind, Clint says that he hasn’t.

Layla goes to the hospital to see Mike, to apologize for the other night at Capricorn. Mike tells her that she’s got nothing to apologize for – he and Marcie screwed things up for themselves. Marcie walks in on Mike and Layla hugging, Layla takes off as Marcie explains she’s there to see Dr. Joplin (Starr’s OB/GYN) and asks Mike if he’d like to join her. Mike points out that they are not together anymore, so they shouldn’t do “stuff like that” together. Mike wishes her luck as he goes to check on a patient. Joplin is pleased to see that Marcie is taking such a liking to a baby that isn’t even hers. Marcie explains that she will love the baby as if it were hers; after Marcie leaves Joplin calls Todd and tells him that she wants to see him immediately.

Todd searches for Marty, who isn’t in the bed anymore. Marty shows off her walking skills. Todd admits that he’s disappointed because now Marty doesn’t need him anymore. Marty explains that she wants to be there with him, to help raise his grandchild. Marty asks for one thing – a dance. Marty plays a song on the piano that Todd gave her, they begin to dance. Todd gets the phone call from Joplin. Todd rushes over to her office; Joplin explains that she is not giving him Starr’s baby, no matter what he does to her. . .
