One Life to Live Recap for Wednesday, August 13, 2008

The show opens with Rex and Gigi touching hands in a room at the ranch and then fades away. Meanwhile at Rodi’s, Layla and Brody are in a heated discussion about why he continues to hold out for a future with Gigi. The bitter damsel fresh from dealing with her own Vincent’s lies, advises the war hero he needs to come clean before the truth comes out. Brody threatens her that Shane had better not find out the truth! His shift is over and he’s off to the carriage house to spend an evening of chess with Shane.

As “Jumping Jack Flash” blares in the background, party guests gather to see Chuck, Jr. and Bo off to war including uninvited Renee, Emma and Spencer. Olympia sadly watches the TV news about the many casualties from the Viet Nam War and comments Bo should go to Canada tonight. Asa retorts, “Canada is for candied assed hippies who don’t have the backbone to stand up and fight.” The patriarch is worried that at any moment a cat fight may break out between Olympia and Renee, Clint will find out about Maria being sent away and Rex will be shipped off to Viet Nam! Renee politely offers her hand to Olympia. “So you’re a hoe er,” Olympia slurs. Renee replies that she’s “the head whore” but she can refer to her as Renee. Olympia glares and accuses her of coming to steal her husband! Asa explains to Professor Fina how the little guy running around the room spitting in people’s drink glasses and spraying people with his squirt gun, will grow up to be murdered by the same woman he just stood up at the alter for lying to him. The professor feels the crazy woman did the world a favor by ridding of the pest. Emma tells Rex that she’s through with his Pa and just came to say goodbye to the Viet Nam bound young man. She asks him to come for a walk with her. She feels she’s “known him more than half her life.” In the same room, but minus the party group, are Gigi and Delphina. As Gigi relates her last call with Rex, she tells of hers and Rex’s history including crashing Adrianna’s wedding. In the background, the same 60s music plays that is playing at the party.

When Rex and Emma reach the stable, Emma entices him to dance with her. Rex tells her of his love for another woman and how he regrets being married to someone else. Back at the ranch, Clint looks for an absent Maria and finds out from Jeremiah that she was run out of town by Asa. When Olympia meets the professor, she states that he is the son of Hermes and Aphrodite – “half man/half woman.” Fina strokes his mustache as Delphina asks Gigi if there’s a mustache on her lip. Chuck, Jr. walks in and invites the psychic and Gigi to stay the night. They explain they hope not to be there past midnight. Chuck, Jr. apologizes for the 60s music blaring in the background and tells them of finding some old records in the attic. After junior leaves, Delphina is elated that the music is the sign they’ve been waiting for. Meanwhile as Rex and Emma dance, the same music, “In Love with This Guy,” plays in the background. Between claps of thunder, both Gigi and Rex lament on how they should have professed their love to each other.

The professor and Delphia both are frustrated at the storm which seems to be slowing down. Professor Fina swears at Renee for interrupting his counting as Delphina advises a panicking Gigi that her “bangs just may get singed” during the transition. Gigi calls Shane to tell him good night. He hands the phone off to Brody as Gigi’s telling him how much she loves him. Brody smiles to hear the words. Delphia warns Gigi to end her call. It’s time! Shane suddenly remembers a package which came from Paris. Brody shoos him up to bed and then opens it. Adrianna has mailed him some of Rex’s DNA in case Brody decides to claim his parentage. Brody again smiles.

When Rex jumps after a close flash of lightning and thunder, Emma assures him that lightning never strikes in the same place twice – not news Rex needed to hear. Rex reluctantly tells Emma he’ll never forget her and they head back to the house. Professor Fina shouts to Asa that it’s time! Delphina and Gina nervously walk along the fence line. The psychic finally finds the spot and stops. This is it. As Asa, the professor and Rex start out the door, Clint stops them. He is furious about his Pa’s part in Maria’s quick departure and he wants to talk now! Delphina loses the signal. She states that something is blocking it. The storm gets louder. Gigi is perplexed --- they have everything they need – the phone, the fence and the lightning. What is wrong now? As Asa tries to quickly reason with Clint that it was for his own good, it infuriates the young man even more and he decks Rex as Asa looks in horror as it is evident they’re not going anywhere!
