Are You The Gatekeeper? - OLTL Recap for Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Upstairs at the Brennan’s, Bess lets Jean Randolph in. Viki’s “alter” tries to convince Bess that it’s time for Jessica to face the truth. Tearfully the patriarch tries to get through to Bess that Jessica is strong enough to endure the pain. She turns away from her daughter as she fights her tears. Bess asks her mother what will happen to Jess when they rip Chloe out of her arms and calls her Viki who realizes the charade is up. Viki apologies to Bess and begs Jessie to talk about the night she had the baby.

Outside in a torrential downpour, Clint and Natalie share a father/daughter bonding session. As she beats up on herself for not seeking help from the family when she found out about the baby switch, her father tells her he’s proud that she did it because of Jess’s fragile mental condition. He blames himself for not noticing Jessica’s strange behavior. Nat shares that she always tries to protect people from themselves and talks of her youth when she cared for a drunken Roxy. In the living room, Lovett expresses concern to Charlie about the situation going on upstairs.

At Angel Square Hotel, Schuyler has Kyle pinned down and demands to know what he did with Stacy’s blood. Fish, who’s just arrived to see Roxy, breaks up the two and orders Joplin out. The cop is doubtful of his frat brother’s claim to innocence as his track record proves otherwise.

Over at Rex’s apartment, Balsom does the chivalrous thing and offers to take the bed in Shane’s former room so Stacy can sleep in comfort in his after she was “beat up” by Stan. The conniver talks her roommate into going to the store for Rum Raisin ice cream, and then gets a pouty look when Rex mumbles that was Gigi’s favorite flavor also. Meanwhile at Rodi’s, Marcy tells Gigi the latest on finding Hope alive and how they’re trying to find Jessica and the baby. Marasco suggests using Rex because of his PI background, but gets no answer when she calls the apartment. Balsom has gone for the ice cream when Gigi leaves a message to call her and Stacy smiles as she deletes the message. Kyle later calls Stacy to warn her that Schuyler is on to the blood switch. When medic congratulates her on stealing the blood sample, she claims she didn’t. The call is cut short when Rex arrives back with the ice cream then goes off to bed in Shane’s room. He has an early appointment with his accountant since he used Ultra Violet’s assets for the $20,000 Stan “stole” from Stacy.

Schuyler comes into Rodi’s and asks for a moment alone with Gigi. He tells her of the unsuccessful altercation with Kyle and how they must figure out another way to get proof. Marasco decides to use her key to Rex’s apartment to steal Stacy’s toothbrush for a DNA sample. Since no one answered the phone, she’s sure the coast is clear. Michael joins Marcy and is surprised that his wife is not jumping joy at the news of Hope being found. She equates Jessica’s state to hers when she lost Tommy and is guilt ridden over what this may do to her friend.

Meanwhile at Rex’s, Stacy feigns a nightmare with Stan beating her up. A shirtless Balsom hears her, runs out and plops down on the bed to comfort her. Gigi and Schuyler open the door and find Rex with his arms around Stacy. The blonde smirks as she makes eye contact with her sister.

Back at the Brennan’s, Viki gently takes down Jessie’s bun and removes the glasses. She begs her daughter to think back to the night at the cottage. Jess starts to cry and then talks about being in a lot of pain, but she’s not alone --- Niki Smith is there as she delivers. It’s a baby girl who looks like Nash. The baby doesn’t cry. Viki prods as to why. Jessie sobs uncontrollably. “My baby is dead. Oh God, my baby is dead!” The elder cradles her daughter.
