John doesn’t want to make any promises because he isn’t a cop anymore, but says he will see what he can do. John asks Fish a favor – John wants a list of the evidence logged in on both Wes’ and Janet’s murder. Fish promises to do some digging around. Layla and Cris continue to bicker inside the freezer. Cris gives Layla his jacket, just so she’ll stop complaining. Layla explains that Fish didn’t think she was being a b****. Cris wants to know why Layla is so upset about something he said. Layla doesn’t answer, instead she pulls out a book of matches to help keep them warm. Cris and Layla huddle close together, they are then freed when a waitress opens the freezer.

Fish rushes by John’s apartment to bring him a copy of the evidence log for both Wes and Janet’s murder, as well as a photograph that he snapped of each item logged in. Marty shows up at John’s apartment, John notices something strange on Janet – an earring that seems to be out of place. Marty sees the picture and doesn’t remember Janet ever wearing something like that. Marty demands to know what John is thinking, John believes that a serial stabber is leaving his calling card on the victims. John also tells Marty that the letters he found (K-A-D) don’t seem to have meaning to him. Marty explains that KAD was the fraternity house where she was raped.
