One Life to Live Recap for the week of September 18 - September 22, 2006

Before the match, Cris is giving interviews. Cris says that he hopes he will win, not for the money or fame but for the people that believed in him. Roxy shows up to show her support as Vince breaks up the camera crews. Layla takes Van aside and tells her to stop worrying about Cris, Vince explains that Cris will be fine. Meanwhile, Ted is paying off someone as per Vince’s plan – Vince’s plan consists of Abbot’s trainer smearing chloroform on Abbot’s boxing gloves. At the last minute, Abbot’s trainer tries to back out of the deal but Ted threatens violence if the deed isn’t done. Inside the locker room, Vince and Layla are talking – they plan on making their relationship public very soon. Van gives Cris a good luck kiss and she and Layla go out to get their seats. Roxy sits next to them and is confident that Cris will win. Vince tells Ted that he doesn’t want to go thru with the plan, Ted explains that it’s too late. Cris and Abbot start to box, Cris seems to be winning until the effects of the chloroform being to kick in.

John threatens to shot Spencer if he doesn’t put the gun down, Spencer knows that if John kills him John’s career will be over. John explains that he’s prepared to risk it, Bo tries to convince John not to do anything stupid. John advances and tells Spencer to put the gun down easily. Spencer acts like he’s putting the gun down but instead hurls it into the river. Bo arrests Spencer on the spot as John jumps into the river. Nat shows up as Spencer is taken away. John resurfaces and calls the diving squad. Nat doesn’t want John in the water but John explains that the current is moving fast and he wants to get the gun…tonight. The diving crew shows up, John joins in and they all jump into the river. Bo brings Spencer back to the station, Spencer threatens to sue. David is there and asks Spencer if he really thought he could get rid of the gun. Spencer acts like there was no gun, Bo explains that he and twenty other people saw him with the gun. Spencer plans to play it off like there was no gun. . .

Cris is getting lightheaded from the substance put on Abbot’s gloves. With everyone cheering him on, Van can see that something is wrong. Cris finally succumbs to the drug and passes out, without being hit. The referee announces Abbot the winner, Roxy books out when she realizes that she doesn’t have enough cash to pay off her bookie. Van is worried when Cris is still down after the fight, Vince warns Ted that nothing better be traced back to him. Layla goes to see Vince, the ref comes over to talk with Vince. Layla rushes over to see Cris and reveals that the ref wants to send a copy of a tape of the fight to the boxing commission because Cris is under the suspicion of taking a dive. Cris takes Van aside and explains that he smelled something on Abbot’s gloves that made his lightheaded and he plans to find out what happened. Nat waits on the pier for John to return to the surface, John surfaces and tells the other divers to go home. Nat asks John is he’s got the gun, John removes the gun from his pocket.

Jess and Antonio plan a wedding date, considering sometime in November. Antonio explains that he has been looking for housing for their family. Jess expresses concern over passing DID on to Bree and worrying that Jess will make a comeback – just like Niki did. Antonio explains that, even though Bree may have a predisposition to DID, he vows to make sure that nothing will happen to Bree to bring it on. Claudia follows Nash into another bar and warns him that if he takes a drink, she will too. Nash reminds himself that Claudia is a recovering alcoholic and opts not to drink anymore. Claudia consoles Nash as he tries to come to terms wit the fact that he’ll never see Tess again. Paige goes to see how Hugh is doing, Hugh tells Paige that he told his foster parents about her and he also reveals his plan with Spencer. Paige explains that Spencer doesn’t take deception very well. Hugh is confident that Spencer will be in jail soon and he won’t have to worry about that. Paige hopes so too, Hugh explains that he wants to get to know Paige a little more after everything settles down. Paige wants the same, they head to the police station.
