One Life to Live Recap for Monday, August 30, 2004

Antonio begs Carlotta to tell him how he is connected to the Santis. Kevin tries to convince Kelly to hand over Ace to him to prevent a messy court battle and she stands firm and refuses. John comes comes across an open door at Antonio and Jessica’s loft and finds Sonia snooping around inside. After she denies breaking in, she joins John for a cup of coffee at the diner.

Tico wonders why Jess and Antonio do not have a wedding date set yet. She tells him that she is busy with graduate school and Antonio is always working, but she finally breaks down and tells him that they are going through a rough patch and that although she knew it would not be easy to live with a cop, his obsession with the Santi case is putting a strain on their future together. Tico asks Jessica if this is the kind of life she wants to live and soon after she gets an eerie feeling that something bad is happening again, just as she did when Antonio was in Puerto Rico. Antonio demands that Carlotta and Angelina tell him what they know. His emotions get the best of him and Angelina runs to Angel Square after being frightened by Antonio. He follows her and questions her about El Tiburon. Antonio reminds her that El Tiburon could still be out there and rebuild the organization with Manuel Santi’s money. Just as she is just about to open up to him about the mysterious secret, an armed gunman attacks them and Angelina saves Antonio’s life as she pushes him away. As Carlotta arrives on the scene, Antonio demands to know why Angelina would risk her life for him. John questions Sonia as to her presence at the construction site with two unidentified people last night. She stalls to answer him and then is interrupted by gunshots. After running to the park where Angelina lays wounded, John runs to chase the assailant and Sonia disappears.

Dorian throws Kevin out of her house as he shows up to harass Kelly and to give her one last shot at handing over Ace before dragging her through a messy custody hearing. Kelly wholeheartedly refuses and wants to fight for what is “hers”. Dorian and Evangeline try to reassure Kelly as they prepare for the trial. Blair arrives at court to show support for Kelly and tells Kevin that he can have Asa’s mansion back if Kevin leaves Kelly alone and gives up his fight for Ace. Todd doesn’t like the idea and neither did Kevin, who wants to fight the battle for Ace that he is sure he will win. Blair reminds Kevin and Todd to stop being such egomaniacs and remember the real reason for the fighting – baby Ace.

Jess vents to Tico about the stressful year she has had so far with her mother’s health and Antonio’s assignments. Tico places a more-than-friendly hand on her should but is interrupted by Sonia who tells him of Angelina’s injuries. Blair tells Kelly she is there to support her in court. Kelly also has the support of Duke, who Kevin tries to sway to his side by telling Duke he is being fed lies. The trial begins and Kelly is pegged as an unfit mother – emotionally unstable, an unfaithful wife and a drug addict. Evangeline defends Kelly but warns her that the trial is only going to get worse. After the gunman is caught, John warns Antonio that he is in way too deep and is on desk duty. But knowing Antonio, that won’t be for long….!
