Hello, Readers!
I apologize for my absence, to both you guys and my boss. I've been ill and am experiencing some cardiac scares, which is why returning to the recaps on this very day, with this very special episode having aired, is very personal. I want to commend the writers for their brilliant work, and the actors for their more than brilliant performances. And to Erika Slezak, who is a classy, elegant actress no matter what role she plays...
THANK YOU, for such a compelling performance as a heart-disease victim. The way Viki's fears and struggles were expressed touched mine, and I felt like I wasn't alone. Okay, people, on with the show.
VIKI DAVIDSON: THE JOURNEY AGAINST TIME!
Ben and Blondie back again! WOO-HOO!! We open with Viki holding her medical chart and reading what's inside with a worried look on her face. She stares straight ahead, her thoughts drifting....
Open scenes of our favorite Ben and Viki moments...
Ben and Viki in bed, kissing and smiling at each other. We see their wedding dance, with all of their family and friends watching them on the floor. The memories of the joy they shared in Llanfair, their exchanged smiles, and most importantly, their undisputed, unshakable love. The collection of flashbacks are brought to a brief end as Viki snaps back to the present, quiet tears rolling down her cheeks.
She rises, takes a pill, and walks over to the patio doors, looking out of the double French doors, then turning back inside...she leans against the frame and gives in to body-wracking sobs. (We all cry with you, Viki!) She slowly makes her way back inside, and heads over to the couch. She spots the photo of her and Ben at their wedding and grabs it to her heart as she lays down on the couch, resting her tear-stained face on the cushion and giving in to a much needed sleep. Hence, the journey begins....
She awakes in Dorian's bed, totally confused. What am I doing in Dorian's room? I don't even remember coming here! Dorian? She calls out, then spots Dorian, dressed in funeral gear, sitting at the foot of the bed. She sits up quickly. Dorian?
In a blink of an eye, Viki is standing in front of Dorian, calling out to her. Dorian? What's wrong? Dorian stares blankly ahead, and sighs. Viki, confused, decides to go downstairs. She sees Starr and Todd sitting sadly at the bottom of the landing, also dressed in black. She bends down in concern, and calls out, Starr? Starr just hangs her head and sobs.
"Hey, sis," Todd says softly. What's the matter with Starr? She's having trouble dealing, Todd replies matter-of-factly. Viki turns to Starr, saying,
"Well, maybe if you tell me what's wrong...." Starr turns and bolts upstairs, and Todd follows, telling Viki that maybe she should leave the young girl alone for now. Still confused, Viki heads to the living room. She opens the doors and finds her entire family, dressed in black, scattered all about with grim faces. Dorian is circling with a platter of food, which is being politely rejected by Viki's children.
Viki walks through the living room as Catholic choir music plays in the background, but no one in the room seems to see her. She listens as Natalie says through sobs,
"How are we going to go on without her? There wasn't enough time! There just wasn't enough time!" Then she watches as Natalie runs into Clint's arms. Viki walks over and says, "My god, Clint! What's going on? I don't understand... what's going on?" But Clint stares over Natalie's shoulder, right past her. She turns and spots Joey, rising from his knees and making the Crucifix formation across his chest. It is then that Viki spots a coffin in the corner, adorned with a lovely bouquet of pink and white flowers. She walks over to the coffin and gently touches the top of the box. She says, "I don't understand...who was it that...die..?" She turns back to the crowd, but there's no one there, and there's an eerie silence.
She turns back to the coffin and slowly opens it, horrified to see herself lying inside!
