One Life to Live Recap for the week of May 15 - May 19, 2006

John refuses to let Nat go with him to find David, Nat absolutely refuses to get off the plane. John doesn’t want her to interfere in his life, Nat knows John would do that same if she were in his situation. John has no choice but to let Nat go with him. Cris and Layla visit Van, to make sure that she is ok. Van is waiting for the doctor to come in. Cris goes to find him and brings him back to the room. The doctor tells Van that her blindness may be permanent. Layla wants a second opinion and goes to search the country for the best available eye doctors. Cris tells Van that he will never leave her side.

Blair and Dorian are waiting in Kelly’s room as she is wheeled in. Kelly finally comes too and asks about Duke. Dorian tells her that he is still in surgery and should be ok. Rex and Adriana show up, Dorian takes Rex aside to get her up to speed. Adriana is afraid for Duke and goes to see how he is. Dorian tells Rex to leave because Adriana doesn’t need him anymore, Rex hints that Dorian isn’t doing her job as a mother because Adriana was almost killed the other night. Dorian explains she left numerous messages but was never called back. Kevin is in shock as he watches Spencer try to revive his son. All of Spencer’s efforts don’t work as Duke dies on the table.

Viki and Clint try to comfort their son, but he refuses their words. Kevin blames himself for killing his son, thinking he should’ve picked Duke to go into surgery first. Clint and Viki leave Kevin to be alone with Duke, they run into Adriana and tell her what happened. Adriana goes back to Rex and can’t believe that Duke is gone. Rex comforts her as Adriana tells Dorian about Duke. Dorian relays the information to Blair who, in turn, tells Kelly. Kelly is mortified at the news and wants to be alone. Kevin puts his arms around his son and says a tearful goodbye to Duke. Viki comes into the room and has to tear Kevin away from Duke. Duke is taken away on the gurney. Viki and Clint console each other as Kevin calls Leann, Duke’s mother, to tell her about their son. Dorian sees Clint and Viki hugging and becomes jealous.

Denton pulls a gun on Margaret and David. David makes a maneuver and gets the gun away from Denton, a struggle ensues until Denton is knocked over the head by a falling statue. David calms Margaret down, they are preoccupied with each other as Denton slips out – little does Denton know, he left his cell phone behind. After losing Duke, Spencer goes back to his office and calls Denton but has to leave a message – Spencer instructs Denton not to hurt David. Spencer hears someone pick up the phone – it’s David. David wants to make a deal with Spencer – each of them is to keep the other’s secret. Spencer agrees to the terms of the deal. After calling Leann, Kevin makes his way to Kelly’s room. . .

A lawyer pays a visit to Nash and Tess, saying that they will be in trouble with the hospital if the baby isn’t given a name. Tess names the baby Brennan – hoping to solidify the baby’s place in her and Nash’s family. Tess goes into the bathroom, where she has a confrontation with Jess. Jess wants to come out but Tess won’t let her, Tess starts to talk about the Hot Spot and Norman Leeds to make Jess go away.

Meanwhile, George – Claudia’s father – calls Nash and “strongly warns” Nash to watch his baby because “bad things happen to little girls that aren’t watched.” Nash threatens George with his life, she he come anywhere near his baby. Claudia goes to see how Antonio is doing, Antonio wonders why Claudia is still in Llanview. Claudia explains about the rehab center she is helping to build, she asks for a job singing at Capricorn. Antonio is hesitant about giving her a job, Claudia promises that Nash will not get in her way anymore.

Cris is staying with Van, Van knows that she has to start doing things on her own. Van still intends to help Todd, while Cris thinks she should concentrate on her recovery. Cris goes to see if Van’s release forms are ready. While he is gone, Van realizes that she might need Cris’ help. Cris gets a call from Rourke, who still wants him to fight. Cris refuses to fight and tells Rourke to sell his contract. Cris returns to Van, who asks him for help putting her shoes on. Cris helps her out and promises to stay with her.
