The law is on our side, Kelly. The certificate says
I DONT CARE WHAT THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE SAYS, KEVIN! she says, It doesnt matter what the birth certificate says. Hes NOT OURS! Kevin tells her to take the baby. She painfully rejects the suggestion and quickly turns to leave. Kevin jumps up with the infant and shoves him into a tearful Kellys arms. She says, I cant! He forces her to hold the baby, and he says, Now tell me hes not ours! Kelly tearfully squeezes the baby, then sits on the couch with him so she and Kevin can talk further.
Shes a bit calmer now, and she asks Kevin where Babe is. Kevin tells her that Babe is in FBI custody, pending kidnapping charges. Kelly is very upset with that information. Thats not good, Kevin. I know, Kevin says, I was just so angry, I acted hastily. I thought about what you said, and I watched her with Ace. You were right, Kelly, she loves him. Then why did you take James away from her?
Because, Kelly! You and I never, on our worst days, ever did what Babe and JR did to each other! Drugging one another, stealing babies and going on the run to live as fugitives
.we never did those things because the baby always came first for us!
He tells her that he knows hes in for a fight. Kelly tells him that he has no idea what hes gotten himself into. When the judge returns the baby to his rightful parents
.well, the pain
its the worst kind imaginable. She knows, shes been there. Why would Kevin want to put himself through that?
I cant go through that
I wont go through that pain again. She rises to set the baby down in his playpen, and Kevin is alarmed. What is she doing? Im not going to let my feelings cloud my judgement. Ive worked too hard to make this right to have it all go wrong. Im going to the police, the FBI, the press
hell, whoever will listen.
Kevin tells her that he cant let her do that. He saw the look in her eyes. She still feels that the baby is her son. Her feelings dont matter, she replies. Yes, it does, Kevin says, it makes all the difference in the world! Its a chance to get everything back to the way they used to be.
Kelly sarcastically says, Oh, really? Everything, Kevin? (Yeah, Kevin, everything?) He tells her, You know what I mean. A chance to have him back in our arms. Kelly pauses to look at the baby once more, then turns to Kevin and says that a lot of things are not the way they used to be. He makes a 180 degree turn and orders her not to even think about helping Babe. This is the way things are supposed to be. He leaves to take the baby upstairs, and she tearfully leaves the mansion. BRAVO, Kelly!
MURDER, THEY WROTE!
Jen sits in shock after hearing Rex admit that hes in love with her. He tells her that its just a wee bit hard on ones ego when they tell someone they love them and that person cant even look at them. Jen snaps that she doesnt know what to say. He tells her, too bad. He is very close to spending the next few years of his life in prison, and he figures if ever there came a time to spill his guts, this was it. No holds barred. Shes disturbed, and rises to leave. He quickly spills the rest of his guts in an effort to detain her. He loves everything about her
her face, her smile, her body
and every rotten thing she ever did. He tells her that he made a vow to do things differently if he beats this murder wrap with just a slap on the wrist. The only things that will matter is her and what they could have together. Shes silent, and he reaches out to touch her cheek
(with Daniel Colson looking on from a desk across the room). She jumps back and tells him that what they had was great while it lasted, but shes with Riley now. Besides, how could she ever be with him again when hes slept with her mother? Rex asks her: Then what are you doing here? She replies that hes in this mess because of her and she feels responsible. But the on-again, off-again thing is dead for her. She wont play that game again. She sighs, and tells him that she has to go. She leaves.
