REFLECTIONS BY JILL for December 31, 2007

From

Well, would you take a look at Addie? She sure has a new lease on life. Will it last? It was funny seeing Dorian and all the women at La Boulaie with their mouths hanging open when Addie walked in with her new look and acting very much unlike a woman who has been in a mental institution for nearly her entire life. So we find out from her doctor that he has tried a new drug on her and it has miraculously transformed her. I hope it lasts because she’s a whole lot of fun this way. Actually, she was a whole lot of fun to watch the other way, too, but it’s more fun to see her being Ms. Independent and taking charge of her life for a change.

It was nice to see Blair in one of her few vulnerable moments when she realized that for once in her life she had her mother back. Let’s face it, Dorian has always acted like a mother to Blair, or at least what her version of a mother is, but Blair never had the sweet, nurturing, mothering that she could only get from Addie. I loved watching Addie walk into Capricorn, order champagne and get rockin’ with the band. Maybe Blair should be a little more skeptical like Dorian is, but for new she’s just enjoying having her mom be a mom and a “normal” woman.

So, we can pretty much figure now that Rex is Shane’s daddy. It’s also obvious that Gigi was in love with Rex back in high school when he up and left her in Michigan without a word. And of course Gigi thought better of telling Rex about Shane once she found out that he was involved with someone to the point of wanting to buy an engagement ring. Oh boy, I see trouble ahead.

For a minute there I thought Adriana was going to turn down Rex’s marriage proposal. I thought his proposal was very sweet and it sure did take her by surprise. I love his sense of humor, especially when he put the ring in that Dust Buster. Isn’t that a Christmas gift every woman yearns for? I guess it was too much to ask for the engagement ring bliss to last once Michael and John showed up to question Rex about his trip to Texas. Could the ring have been any more obvious when Adriana practically waved it in Michael’s face as she draped her left hand over Rex’s shoulder? It didn’t take long for Michael to figure out that it was Marcie’s ring and for Rex to feel like a real fool for the way he obtained it. And hey, now that Adriana had to give back the ring, poor Rex is out $2,000. He sure got the raw end of that deal. Michael didn’t even ask what he paid for it.

I got quite annoyed with Marcie when Gigi showed up with the $2,000 that she got from Rex for the ring and Marcie seemed upset that it was sold. Duh Marcie! Get a grip! You asked Gigi to sell the darned thing. I think it’s time that Marcie realizes that yes, she wants to do anything she can to keep Tommy, but she hasn’t made one move yet without the total help and support of others. And except for her brother, Ron, everyone who has helped her emotionally as well as financially, has been a kind stranger. She can’t make it on her own and although she has been very grateful to everyone who helped her, she has been doing nothing but taking from others since she left home. Gigi is a single mother who works hard to support herself and her son and she has given everything she has to Marcie. Enough is enough. Now that Gigi has been found by Todd and Ramsey, maybe the jig will finally be up for Marcie.

It was creepy the way Ramsey could get so much information about Gigi and her son when we never even saw him find out her last name. Well, Ramsey is creepy altogether and when you pair him up with Todd, it’s enough to send chills up anyone’s spine. Combine his connections with Todd’s money and you have a very scary pair of demons.

Who is a bigger jerk than Jared these days? Nobody! The way he has been pursuing Natalie is totally ridiculous. He made his bed and now he needs to lie in all that Buchanan opulence and leave Natalie alone. He never should have given Natalie his mother’s necklace for Christmas and she shouldn’t have accepted it. I know they have strong feelings for each other that were derailed when Jared became “Uncle Jared” but tough luck. And what is Natalie going to do when she finds out that this was all a hoax perpetuated by the man she can’t forget? I couldn’t believe he had the nerve to tell Natalie he’d never let her go.

I laughed my head off when Jared showed up at John’s place and found Natalie there. Could he have been more wrong to assume John would tolerate him walking in there and reading him the riot act for using Natalie? Oh Jared, you have so much to learn in Llanview. He was so obviously jealous of Natalie spending time with John and he was too stupid to even try to hide it. He never seems to remember that it’s icky that he’s supposed to be her uncle and continues to pursue her.

I loved it when Jared marched into John’s apartment and John said, “I don’t know what part of health class you missed but uncles who get too familiar with their nieces wind up in jail.” That would be good to remember Jared. I got yet another laugh when Jared threatened John and warned him about taking advantage of Natalie in the future. Jared didn’t know when to call it quits but he sure learned fast when he told John, “Your girlfriend dies and you hop into bed with the next warm body you can find.” I got a warm, fuzzy feeling all over when John gave Jared one good punch to the gut and doubled him over. John wouldn’t take kindly to anyone saying anything bad about Marty and he would hammer anyone into the ground who hurt Natalie. It would be good for Jared to remember that. I was glad that Natalie defended her relationship with John and Jared had to slink away.

I loved Marty’s gift to John. Hey, where can I get a dartboard with Todd Manning’s face in the center? Michael sure had no trouble hitting the bull’s eye, did he?
