REFLECTIONS BY JILL - December 8, 2008

Poor Cole continues to try to get close to his mother and he takes Marty to see where she and her family are buried. She reads the note Cole left there. It was touching letter, but it is obvious that Marty is having so much trouble dealing with everything, including Cole’s desire to have his mom back, which she can’t give him right now.

Jessica’s therapy is very interesting. The doctor got to meet Bess and he knew she was keeping a secret. He got Tess to come out and now he knows that Tess believes the baby they are passing off as Jessica’s is not really her baby. How is this ever going to get straightened out?

Hey, there is a bright spot in Llanview. Addie claims that she’s going to run for mayor in 2010. Now there’s something for Mayor Lowell to worry about. If anyone can straighten out that town, Addie sure can. The people who have been sane all their lives can’t seem to get it right, so let’s give her a shot at it.

See ya next week.

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Catherine writes: “Today I saw the amazing scene with Viki in Victor Lord's mausoleum. She brought tears to my eyes, which with me almost never happens. You seem to be right about Charlie. The writers are toughing him up to make him worthy of Viki. Their exchanges together were beautiful. Before I forget, every time I read your comments on Nora or Clint, I realize how forgettable they are. Nora used to kick butt, especially with her gal pals, but now she is just forgettable. Clint was never my cup of tea, per se, but he had a respectable moral compass. Now he's just sleazy. Now, John. I've always liked John; not adored him, but liked him. But that move with Blair, when he lifted his handcuffed hands to enfold her in his arms was the most delicious move I've ever seen. He sold me 100% in that moment. He and Blair just keep getting better. I love them together. I continue to love the kids of the show (Starr, Cole, Langston, and Markko). The young actor who plays Shane does a good job, too. Mathew reminds me of Starr, the way he can be the voice of truth and reason when the adults are running amuck.”

Dear Catherine: There is nothing else to say about Erika Slezak except that she is wonderful. She can always bring tears to my eyes. Clint was never my cup of tea either and I think he deserves a woman like Dallas, who goes along with his sometimes less than ethical ways. She’s the perfect woman for a “good old boy” Buchanan. Nora needs to move on from him because he shows a good side once in a while and she keeps falling for it, but that will only last until the next “Buchanan” stunt he pulls. And yes, I do have a thing for John and I’m glad someone else loved that handcuff hug as much as I did. And I say keep Todd off my screen for a while and let everyone else shine.

Judy97 writes: “Is there an "Explosives Are Us" store somewhere that I don't know about? Where do young women know where to go to get dynamite? Is there a listing in the Yellow Pages?”

Dear Judy: LOL! I died laughing when Tina got her hands on that dynamite so quickly and then when Tess not only got the dynamite, but also figured out how to rig a bomb, I thought that was just too much. There probably is an “Explosives Are Us” in Llanview. They build diners in a week and age children 10 years in a month, so we shouldn’t be surprised at two sneaky women setting their minds to blowing up safes and houses and figuring out how to do it.

Kriselda writes: “Something just occurred to me after reading your comments about Nora including giving up BE as part of the deal for Dorian. It really bothered me that after she spent so much time insisting that she loved Langston so much that she wouldn't let her go to Columbia, she was more willing to hire a hit man to kill Ray than to give up BE to accomplish that. Yet when she got arrested for trying to have Ray killed, and Nora told her that if she gave up BE, she wouldn't file any charges against Dorian, whaddya know; she hands it right on over. So, in spite of her supposedly overwhelming maternal love for Langston, protecting Langston from her murderous uncle wasn't enough of a reason to give up BE, but avoid prison FOR HERSELF was. Once again, Dorian's more interested in her own self-preservation than anything else.”

Dear Kriselda: I can’t disagree with you about Dorian. She spends half of her time swearing how much she loves and does everything for her family and “her girls” but yes, she would probably sell any or all of them down the river if she were up against the wall and a selfish motive overtook her. I guess that’s what makes me like her just enough not to want to banish her from Llanview. She definitely has her soft spots but yes, she has a lot more hard ones.
