REFLECTIONS BY JILL for November 6, 2006

From Jill Berry, for About.com

I must say that Viki really entertained me on all fronts this week. I loved it when Clint stood there and ridiculously told her that he thought Dorian was trying to make amends by asking if it was okay for her to send a wedding gift to Jessica and Antonio and Viki just gave Clint the gag sign and said, “You know Clint, for an extremely intelligent man, you are absurdly naïve.” Well, Viki had one part right; Clint is totally absurd when it comes to Dorian, but I think “naïve” is way too kind a word for Clint.

I am totally sick of Vincent Jones. He is a waste as far as I’m concerned. He goes around telling everyone how he wants to be a new man and he’s sorry for what he’s done, but he’s just sorry he got caught and he’s not ready to do what it takes to be a decent, honorable man. And I was glad that Antonio went to Nash and offered to give him the money he needed for the vineyard so that Nash could sever his business relationship with Vincent. No matter what Antonio’s motives might be (and I don’t think they’re all bad), Nash doesn’t need Vincent in his life, that’s for sure.

It was kind of ridiculous for Antonio to charge Vincent with attempted murder. That was a little bit over the top and was more about getting revenge for Cristian than doing his job, but I was really annoyed at the way Vincent slimed his way out of getting any real punishment for what he did do to Cristian. That confession he made was a joke. He had to know all along that he would be able to set up Ted to testify on his behalf. And Vincent’s defense attorney made Evangeline look like a fool when he brought in Ted as his surprise witness. Vincent is a user and an opportunist and has such a long way to go to become a real man that it’s not even worth the journey for us to watch. His whole attitude towards Natalie is pretty disgusting and while he spends his time following her around, he still has Layla to fawn over him, too, even if she keeps telling him it’s over. I can only hope that Natalie is going to wise up and stay away from Vincent. She’s got enough going on in her life and dealing with a lowlife like him can only drag her back to days she doesn’t want to revisit. I know she feels some sort of loyalty to Vincent because he helped her get the lead on who killed John’s father, but enough is enough. I hope she has washed her hands of him for good because what we don’t need is to watch Natalie blocking out her grief with another idiot, even if Vincent makes her think he’s her friend.

And what about poor John? How much garbage does he have to listen to while he lies in that bed trying to let someone know he’s alive? How awful for Vincent to confide in him, thinking he’s confiding in Hugh, about kissing Natalie. And then John has to hear Natalie and Vincent talking about it in his hospital room. Now that he’s got his big blue eyes open, someone is going to realize that hey, Hugh doesn’t have blue eyes. I can’t wait for him to start making his presence known and dealing with everyone around him.

The Mannings are sure going through their share of headaches, aren’t they? I feel so bad for Starr having to deal with the sins of her father. And that Brittany; she needs to learn a few lessons about being a human being. And what I hate the most is parents like Brittany’s that think their child is such an angel when the kid is the worst menace in the school. Brittany’s parents were more than obnoxious in defending their little bundle of joy and I was surprised that Blair had such a calm head on her shoulders when they called her and Todd white trash. It’s a good thing that Blair realizes that if she and Todd get crazy, it will just embarrass Starr more. And then the principal said she couldn’t expel Brittany. I’d like to know why. That little paper she wrote about rape should have been enough to toss her out on her ear, let alone that slide show she made about Starr’s family.
