REFLECTIONS BY JILL for November 5, 2007

From Jill Berry, for About.com

PLEASE, someone save me from Marcie’s escapades on the road. While I do find the drag queens down in Georgia funny to watch, I think we’ve been subjected to quite enough of the “Who gets custody of Tommy” storyline. It’s not interesting any more and it’s high time that Marcie was brought home and started learning to live with the judge’s decision no matter how ridiculous it is. It is way too unbelievable that Marcie hasn’t been caught yet, especially since John has a source that has been tracking her better than the FBI has.

Marcie did look pretty funny dressed up as a drag queen and she does have the musical ability to hold her own with a bunch of guys in sequins, but I don’t feel that throwing humor into this storyline makes it better. In fact, it mocks the seriousness of the whole situation. I thought for sure that when John spotted Marcie on the stage he would at least make contact with her and try to convince her to come home. Instead, that brawl broke out in the bar (the oldest diversionary tactic in the book) and Marcie got away while everyone including John and Todd got arrested. Yawn, yawn! Now John, Todd, Marty and Blair on hot on Marcie’s trail to New Orleans. This foursome happens to be the most boring combo of characters I can think of.

Can someone tell me why Marty has taken it upon herself to be John’s savior? How does a little bit of time spent with him and a few kisses lead her to doing the one thing John hates and that is having someone take care of him and get in his way when he’s on a mission? I can understand Blair going after Todd since it’s what she always does, even when she is risking her own life and ignoring the fact that she has children at home. And at this point, even Blair should have just decided to let Todd go it alone and sink or swim. I thought it was ridiculous for Marty to be worried about John to the point of tracking him down on the road. All of a sudden it’s okay for Marty to leave Cole and for Blair to leave Starr, Jack and now Langston at home with Dorian overseeing everything. And now Dorian has to deal with Social Services for Langston in Blair’s absence. At least Dorian has her priorities straight when it comes to Langston. I know, it’s shocking for Dorian to care about anyone more than herself and it is pretty scary when she is the reliable one in the family.

I guess Blair wasn’t as affected as I thought she was when Jack told her that he felt no one cared about him because Blair was always busy with Starr and Langston and Todd was only concerned with finding Tommy. That little boy is suffering and all Blair did was to buy him a milkshake, talk to him for a while and then run off to bail Todd out the minute Marty suggested it. And let’s not forget how upset Todd was (NOT) when Blair showed up at the jail in Georgia and told him how upset Jack was. It brought a tear to my eye (NOT!) when Todd’s reaction to Jack being upset was, “So, you talked to him right? He’s okay. Now get me out of here.” Why does anyone question the fans that can’t stand Todd? And he had a lot of nerve making that comment to Blair saying that she wouldn’t object to him being on the hunt if he were looking for Starr or Jack. He should know better than anyone about not caring about a child that doesn’t have your own DNA. He disposed of Jack (for lack of a better word) when he thought Jack was not his son, even though he belonged to Blair. He’s lucky that Blair cares at all about Tommy after what he did to Jack.

FBI Agent Ramsey is doing a good job of turning me off, that’s for sure. He has a lot of Spencer’s disgusting ways about him, doesn’t he? He really stooped pretty low when he was wondering how well Todd knew John and spelled out for Todd that John botched a case that wound up killing his fiancé by goading a serial killer into coming after him which got Kaitlyn killed instead. I’ll bet that Ramsey had more to do with Kaitlyn than we know and that’s why he hates John so much.

So, who is the guy dressed up as death that is following Marty and Cole? I heard that someone connected to Patrick was going to be after them and I guess this will lead to the storyline that takes Marty out of Llanview. I can’t say I’m sorry to see her go, but I would like to see Cole stay. I haven’t heard anything about his fate.

Now Rex thinks that Adriana is pregnant and he has already told Roxy that she’s going to be a grandma. That’s a riot in itself, but how dumb is it that Adriana has an appointment with her gynecologist to discuss maternity lingerie? It sure sounded like she was making an appointment because she thinks she’s pregnant. When Rex finds out the truth, he’ll probably let out such a big breath of relief that it will blow the windows out of his apartment.

I thought that Jamie’s little clown get-up was adorable and it’s always very cute the way the writers give Jamie lines that leave everyone around her speechless. Maybe she can find a way to get her father and Talia together since they aren’t having much success getting there on their own. Talia is wild about Antonio and maybe, just maybe, he’s starting to see her as a woman instead of a co-worker and a buddy. I’m reserving judgment on this couple. I think they could be good together, but it will be interesting to see how willing Antonio is to put the past behind him and give love another try.

Is November sweeps going to be dominated by dumb storylines? How much longer are we going to have to put up with Natalie and Jared and their childish little games of jealousy? That display at The Palace was ridiculous with Natalie and Cristian kissing and Sarah and Jared mirroring their immature display. Natalie and Jared can’t stop thinking about each other and they should just admit the attraction and act on it already. Maybe they can get it out of their system and ours, too.
