Todd Manning

I had to laugh at Todd. He did such a poor job of explaining things to Viki when she showed up at his house looking for Tess. Of course Todd denied that he knew Tess was back and even that he’d seen her. I wish Viki had just gotten so fed up with his stupid evasions that she’d haul off and slap him silly. We know she doesn’t believe a word he says but somehow she keeps her cool and lets him spew his nonsense at her. Of course Marty had plenty of time to hide before Viki walked into the room and found her with Bree. How silly was that? Of course Todd can’t wait to get rid of Viki, but she is so worried about what Tess has done to Natalie and Jared and what Tess still might do that she isn’t leaving Todd’s house until Tess comes back for Bree. Lucky for Todd that Charlie called and convinced Viki to bring Bree back to Llanfair.

I’d like to take Nurse Janet and give her a good shake. She’s so hell bent on keeping her past a secret that she has herself convinced that she is keeping Todd’s dirty secrets because Marty is truly happy with him. Marty is starting to have flashes of memory, but honestly, I’m getting tired of her devotion to Todd and her unending belief that he is protecting her from the Evil John. Marty should have listened to herself when she told Todd that it was strange that John has everyone on his side. Yes Marty, John has everyone on his side because he’s the good guy and you’re living with the monster! I’m so tired of Marty believing everything Todd tells her. Even if she has no memory of her past life, she’s not an idiot and anyone could see that Todd is making things up as he goes along. Lots of things haven’t made sense and Marty doesn’t need her memory to figure that out.

Once again I have to compliment the young actors on the show. Honestly, the one person who I felt needed the most acting experience when he came on the show was Brandon Buddy. However, this young actor has come a long way and I thought his portrayal of Cole going through the first anniversary of his mother’s death was heartbreaking. I loved the way they tied in the anniversary of Marty’s “death” to the essay Cole had to write for college, where he had to write a letter to someone who influenced him. It brought more than a few tears to my eyes to watch Cole at Marty’s grave, reading her the letter he wrote to her, telling her that she was the one who was always there for him through everything and that he missed her so much in his life. I loved the way they tied Cole losing Marty to him giving up his child, having him realize that even though he was afraid of what his life would be since he lost his mother, he still knew he could go on and could also deal with the fear of giving up his child and also moving on. Those scenes were beautifully done and the best part of it all was that he emailed the letter to Starr and wanted her to read it and know how he felt. It was a beautiful thing he did when he included the fact that he always loved Starr and now he loved her more than ever. It was wonderful for Starr to be able to hear that because she has been through so much and had made such a tough decision for a young woman. Knowing that Cole might on some level forgive her made her feel so much better about what she was doing.

I wasn’t surprised at all that Starr showed up at the cemetery to be with Cole. I love that they are finding their way back together as friends who care so much about each other and I hope it leads them to a great mature relationship as they move on together with their lives.

And can we give TPTB a little bit of applause for bringing back Officer Fish? This guy is a riot and he’s the cutest, funniest computer geek I’ve ever seen. He is certainly helping John’s case by getting into all of Todd’s bank records and finding out about the condo Todd bought in Mexico. I thought it was hysterical that Fish tapped into the hotel video system and found Keys enjoying the good life at the expense of Todd Manning. Sure, Todd is keeping Keys in booze, women and luxury and in return, all Keys has to do is keep his mouth shut about knowing Marty’s identity.

I just want to say that I am thoroughly disgusted in the upcoming events on the show. I read that Marty and Todd will actually have sex this week and that Marty will actually seduce him, black dress and all. The worst part of it all is that John is going to find proof that Marty is with Todd and won’t get to her in time to stop her from having sex with Todd. I really can’t believe that the writers have taken this storyline this far and that they Todd to a place where there is no chance for redemption (in my opinion). I also read that what Marty is going to be more horrified about than the fact that Todd had sex with her after being her rapist, is that he kept it a secret from her that she had a son after she had all those flashbacks about a little boy. I’m going to have a terrible time watching those scenes and all I can hope for is that most of it is “off screen” and we won’t have to actually watch it happen. Something tells me I won’t get my wish.

Oh, and by the way, is it any coincidence that Starr’s water broke and Tess is having pains? I hate to even think of the possibilities surrounding these two young women.

See ya next week.
