REFLECTIONS BY JILL for October 30, 2006

From Jill Berry, for About.com

And go ahead, break my heart. I cried a small river when Natalie and Viki talked about moving on and Viki suggested that Natalie take off her engagement ring. I was surprised because the first thing that crossed my mind was that Ben has been “gone” for a few years now and Viki still wears her rings all the time. It was a first when Natalie asked Viki why she hasn’t taken off her rings and Viki had no answer. She just kept saying, “I don’t know.” Well, I know. Viki is the most level-headed person in Llanview, but Ben was the man she said she loved like no other, so even though she has literally said good-bye to him more than once and vowed to move on with her life, those rings are a part of her she never gave a thought to giving up. I think it was very hard for her to take those rings off and if it weren’t for the fact that her kids’ well-being is the most important thing in the world to her, she never would have considered doing it. In any case, it was very sad for me to watch. I’d love to see a scene with Viki alone, looking at the rings and thinking about what it means to put them away. But better than that, I’d love to see Ben walk through the front door of Llanfair. What are the chances of that?

Poor Kelly. I heard a rumor that the baby will be born and it will be Duke’s. If that’s true, I am very surprised. And do you think Spencer actually did something to her during that surgery, or that he deliberately didn’t do something he should have done so she could carry that baby to term? It’s too awful to think about, but I wouldn’t put it past him.

And wouldn’t you know it that when Michael was visiting John, and John said, “Michael, it’s me”, all Michael heard was his name. That “it’s me” was loud and clear Michael. Get the wax cleaned out of your ears. And of course, Evangeline had to be walking out of earshot of John when she was visiting and he called for Natalie. It figures!

And in case you haven’t heard, Marty Saybrook is returning to Llanview (played by a new actress) and believe it or not, she will play Cole’s mother. How cozy; she, Todd and Blair could be in-laws some day. Holy Cow!

See ya next week.
