REFLECTIONS BY JILL for October 22, 2007

From Jill Berry, for About.com

It’s getting to that time when I am growing tired of the Todd/Michael/Marcie/Tommy saga. I’m sick of watching Todd and I’m quickly getting annoyed with the unrealistic “Marcie on the run” storyline.

Was anyone surprised when Todd showed up at Ron’s house searching for Marcie and Tommy and when he didn’t find what he wanted he got two goons to strong arm Ron and trash the place? I never dreamed that Todd would let the law handle things anyway. It wasn’t very bright of Marcie to head for her brother’s place anyway since that’s the first place everyone was going to look for her. And wasn’t it convenient that Ron had that secret room that just looked like a wall from the outside so Marcie could hide with Tommy? And wasn’t it convenient that in the few seconds that Marcie had to hide, she was able to cover up any trace of the fact that she was there overnight with a baby? They didn’t find a suitcase, a diaper, a pacifier, a sneaker, nothing! And how accommodating of Tommy not to utter a peep. Gee, I thought Marcie was pretty much a bionic woman when she managed to escape her apartment through that window with the benefit of even a fire escape, but hiding every trace of her and Tommy in a matter of five seconds; now that was talent! And how stupid was it for Ron to realize that Tommy’s milk cup was behind the couch cushion and he still didn’t move it after Todd left, leaving it there for John and the FBI to find? Do you see why I am getting very tired very quickly of this whole storyline?

And did Marcie think that get-up made her look so different? I didn’t think that was much of a disguise. And how many times is she going to forget that their new names are Penny and Aaron Shaw? Ron wasn’t very bright to leave his laptop around so that John could find out about him seeking out his buddy Rocco for a car. Ron should have figured that Todd could very well come back and would have no qualms about breaking in. So Ron got himself arrested. Very nice. I guess he won’t be in trouble long enough for him to be around very long.

Marcie needs to stop, take a breath, and realize what she’s doing. I know she’s frantic about losing Tommy and turning him over to Todd, but now she has created a situation that is causing havoc everywhere. By now I think she’s had enough time to think about what Michael did and realize that he made a terrible mistake but that he loves her and that she’s giving up a good life with him, not to mention the fact that he is so badly hurt, too. Michael’s plea to her on television should have had more impact. I certainly understand that she can’t even think about turning Tommy over to Todd, but she would have a better chance of keeping an eye on Tommy if she went home, rather than living on the run which of course can’t last very long. And the longer she stays on the run, the more chance there is of her going to jail so she’d have no contact with Tommy if that happened.

So now we have another obnoxious guy to deal with. Hunt Block is playing FBI agent Lee Ramsey who obviously is no friend of John’s. He’s had some run-ins with John in the past and is thrilled to see that not only has John been forced out of the FBI, but has now been suspended from the police force. I’ve seen Hunt Block on several shows and I have never seen him when he wasn’t playing one of these obnoxious, nasty, in your face kind of creeps. He does heartless very, very well. Obviously, this role will be no different for him. It feels like he’s a Spencer Truman type of personality, except that he’s on the other side of the law, or for now we think he is. At any rate, he revels in John’s misfortunes and knowing me you can pretty much figure that he’s not on my good list. He’s deliberately cruel where there is no need to be. I’m just guess, but could his hatred for John have anything to do with a woman from their past, maybe Kaitlyn?

Old Dorian is certainly on the side of good these days. It feels weird to have a couple of weeks go by without wanting to smack her. I think she asked Blair just the right question when she asked her if she really believed she would be able to mother the child that Todd created with Margaret Cochran. I don’t believe that Blair is at all sure that she can be a mother to that child and if Todd spends too much more time dwelling on Tommy and ignoring the rest of his family it is not going to sit well with Blair.

I love the way Dorian has involved herself with Langston. Regardless of the fact that she probably has enough room at LaBoulaie to open a shelter, it is very kind of her to selflessly want to take Langston in. I just have one thing to tell the young people of Llanview. Listen kids, watch what you say, how loudly you say it and where you say it. There is no better lurker in all of Llanview than Brittany (Lindsay is a close second) and Starr and Cole just stood in the middle of the school hallway talking about Langston’s parents being dead for over a year. That gave Brittany just the exciting exit from Llanview and all her enemies that she wished for.

I was sad to see Langston have to go to that group home, but she won’t be there for long. I hope she settles in soon with Dorian, Blair and Starr and starts to heal from all she’s been through in the past year. She needs to just be a kid and she hasn’t had that luxury for a long time.
