FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

lward4 writes: “I am so with you. I remember when happy moments on soaps weren't a crime; Warm and fuzzy times, and comedy/one shot lines (like our David used to deliver). I clapped my hands when Jessica punched Miss Nasty. Great hook for a girl huh? I think a lot of Tess should come out because it will drive Antonio crazy. Could Spencer have one more brother? Like a Spencer look alike? We could keep him around and it would still stir things up!”

Dear lward4: It’s hard to remember many happy times on One Life to Live these days. We are in desperate need of some. I really did enjoy Jessica popping Claudia in the mouth. Although I don’t condone physical violence, Claudia has said so many rude and inappropriate things to so many people that I didn’t mind somebody trying to shut her up for a change. I heard a rumor that she might wind up with Antonio. I’m not sure even Antonio deserves a nutcase like Claudia. Oh, and about Spencer, please don’t mention a look alike too loudly because it might give someone in charge the foolish idea that it would be fun. Sorry, I want Spencer gone tomorrow and I don’t want to see anyone else who even vaguely resembles him again.

Lucy writes: “I was not moved by Natalie's performance when she found out about John. I was more moved by Evangeline. She brought a tear to my eyes. I expected Natalie's reactions to be a little better. As for Michael and Marcie, they had no right to tell Natalie that John was going to propose to her. I would have waited for her to heal a little. That was totally ridiculous. She was hurt and grieving the loss of John and these two come along and tell her this. It was just plain stupid.”

Dear Lucy: Obviously, from my comments, I don’t agree about Natalie’s behavior since John’s “death.” She and Evangeline are about as different as two people can be and everyone grieves differently. Aside from that outburst at the police station with Spencer, I don’t understand why so many people think Natalie’s behavior and reactions were so strange. There is no right or wrong here, so I don’t know what you mean when you say her reactions should have been better. As for Michael and Marcie telling Natalie about the proposal, whether or not anyone thinks they should have done it is pretty much immaterial. They truly believed they were telling her something that would give her the comfort of knowing how John really felt about her. Personally, I think they did the right thing.

Sheri writes: “A bit of trivia I was reading this week in the TV Guide stated that some of our more famous alums of the show are Judith Light, who I remember as Karen Wolek, but they went onto say Tommy Lee Jones, Ryan Phillipe, Roma Downey and Tom Berenger were also on the show. What characters did they play? I am just curious. I have watched this daytime story since All My Children began and I have been watching them both since. I just don't remember these other characters. Could you refresh my memory?”

Dear Sheri: I have watched the show from the beginning, but there were several time periods over the years where I did not watch, so having had help, I can tell you that Tommy Lee Jones played Mark Toland, who was involved with Julie Siegel (I think they were married, not sure). Tom Berenger played Tim Siegel, who married Jenny Siegel on his deathbed. Roma Downey played Lady Joanna, who was the daughter of Lord Henry Leighton and Ryan Phillipe played Billy Douglas. Thanks go out to my friend Christina for the OLTL history refresher course. She always helps me remember where all the bodies are buried.

JUDY97 writes: “I wish somebody would tell me how old Spencer and Paige were when they went to medical school. I really find it hard to believe that they were both doctors 25 years ago. David looked 25 years younger so why not Spencer?”

Dear JUDY97: Great questions and one I have asked myself many times over. From the way they are telling us this ridiculous story, I figure that Spencer was probably about 15 years old when he shot John’s father and insisted that Paige be in the operating room and Paige was probably about 13. Like I said, ridiculous. David is the only one who aged realistically in this storyline. The same is true of Paige being Hugh’s mother. She would have had to be very young when she had him, too young to be a doctor for sure. I thought it was very silly to watch the flashbacks of Spencer in the alley when he shot John’s father. They slicked back his hair and put him in a leather jacket like he was someone out of “Grease” but he didn’t look a day younger than he is today.
