REFLECTIONS BY JILL for October 9, 2006

From Jill Berry, for About.com

And on to the most boring storyline I’ve watched in a long time, and believe me, it is hard to watch. So, the Boxing Commission has decided that Cristian did indeed take a dive and threw the fight. No surprise there. Can we end this now? Please! And could Vincent be any more obvious in demanding that Cristian accept the decision and move on? He knows that his butt could be in a sling very quickly with Evangeline and Cristian on the warpath. And now that Todd, with all of his eavesdropping expertise knows that Vincent fixed the fight, he certainly has Vincent “on the ropes” shall we say.

Could Blair be any more obviously nasty to Evangeline? I wonder if Blair even considers how silly it looks when she releases the green-eyed monster and laces into Evangeline every time she sees her around Todd. So Blair proposed to Todd? What did she expect his reaction to be?

The diner saw a lot of action this week, including Dorian walking in and seeing Carlotta in Clint’s arms. Her reactions to things like that are as ridiculous as Blair’s are when she sees Evangeline with Todd. Maybe it’s a genetic Cramer Girl trait. Adriana didn’t waste any time getting right up in Clint’s face and telling him about all her mother’s dirty deeds and warning him not to get involved with her again. Of course it didn’t make Adriana happy enough; she’s going to try and throw Viki and Clint together because she figures that would hurt her mother the most, next to making her a pauper, of course. You know how I feel about a Viki/Clint romance; it’s no secret, but why are TPTB settling for a third time around romance? Maybe they believe, as I do, that it would be near impossible to find a new, young, fun romance for Viki after she’s already had the best one imaginable, but I find Clint often times overbearing and chauvinistic and I don’t find the push and pull of Clint and Viki going head to head very romantic. Sorry!

And that cute old coot, Asa, is back. I died laughing when Nigel wheeled him into the living room in his fancy shmancy robe and his cowboy hat. I’ve missed the give and take between Asa and Nigel and they did not disappoint me. I’m happy to see Phil Carey “back in the saddle.” I can’t wait to see him finally going at it with Spencer.

In closing, I already feel that we’ve had enough McBain sadness and I can’t wait for the next few weeks to roll by so we can get into what is actually going to happen to John and everyone around him. I know that people who aren’t crazy about John feel like he’s eating up all the airtime even though he’s not on camera, but I don’t agree. I’m a fan and I hope Easton stays around for a long time. I think he’s unique and I would love to see him have a life and all that entails now that he has put his demons to rest. And I would love to see him get a chance to voice all those things his mother said he told her, like the fact that he feels that Natalie is his soul mate. Why do we find out that the best stuff has been done off-screen? Sheesh, I hate when that happens!

See ya next week.

Jill
