REFLECTIONS BY JILL for October 8, 2007

From Jill Berry, for About.com

So, Lindsay seems to be partially coherent. I wasn’t totally buying that catatonic state for a minute, not because Lindsay wasn’t truly headed for a real breakdown, but because she has done so many shady things over the years that I wouldn’t put anything past her. One minute she told the doctor she didn’t remember anything and the next she was remembering.

Do you believe that she was totally out of it before Dorian slapped her across the face? She seemed to react to Bo after he walked away from her even though she didn’t speak to him, but hey, she may love Bo but he’s still a cop and she’s no fool. Lindsay’s reaction to the slap made me laugh when she looked at Dorian and told her what she’d do to her if she ever tried anything like that again. And I had to laugh when Dorian brought Lindsay the Woman of the Year award and figured that would make her feel better. The only person that would cheer up is Dorian. Then Dorian had to go and tell Lindsay that the committee was considering revoking her winning the award. Yes Dorian, that’s the only important thing to Lindsay right now. I also laughed when Nora was finally alone with Lindsay and whispered a threat in her ear just in case she was faking her condition. I’m with Nora on this one.

The only thing that makes me think that Lindsay might not be completely faking is that she told Marcie that she overheard Michael and Rex talking about Todd being Tommy’s father nearly a year ago. I don’t think Lindsay would ever deliberately hurt Marcie that way by letting her know that Michael has been lying to her.

The biggest travesty of the week was “Manning Day” on the witness stand. You had to figure that Todd would try to make the judge think that even though he has done some awful things (huge understatement), he deserves to raise his own son. He had the nerve to tell the judge that he gave Marcie and Michael that check for $10 million to compensate them for taking care of his son all this time and for their pain and suffering, not because it was a dirty bribe. Give me a break! That judge should have been choking on his laughter. At least he had the decency to be shocked and say, “I thought you were a lot of things Mr. Manning, but stupid wasn’t one of them.” You might want to rethink that Your Honor! And I had to keep myself from gagging when Todd sat on the stand and talked about marrying Blair because she’s the woman he loves and wants to raise his family with and Blair just sat there like the loving wife. ICK!

I was surprised that Blair wasn’t afraid of being struck down by lightning when she swore to tell the truth and then testified that she married Todd for love and nothing more. Maybe the judge ought to take a look at her bank account. I applauded when Judy, the McBain’s lawyer, brought up the fact that Todd gave Jack away at birth to strangers at the Mexican airport and told Blair he was dead, only to get him back and get Blair to believe he was a baby that needed adopting. I don’t think it was too wise of Blair to call Judy a bitch, do you? Blair married Todd for love, that’s for sure, for the love of MONEY! Judy had the best line of the day when Blair testified that Todd’s family was important to him and that includes Tommy and Judy replied, “Is anyone as important to Todd Manning as Todd Manning himself?” The answer to that is a resounding NO!

I felt so sorry for Starr. It was hard for her to sit back and listen to her mother being blasted by the opposing attorney and Starr is too loyal to her parents to admit that they deserved it. I think it was a mistake for Starr to take the stand, even though Blair thinks she helped Todd’s case. And Marcie felt bad for Starr, too. It was very kind of her to ask Judy to go easy on Starr, but they really need to pull out the big guns when it comes to fighting Todd. I only wish that it would help in the end.

You know, sometimes I really like Blair and think she’s a good person and then that side of her comes out that really has very little class no matter how much she dressed herself up in the finest designer clothes. It was nasty of her to go over to Marcie during the court recess after she and Starr were hammered on the stand and say to Marcie, “Hey, you and me, we’re going to go at it.” What kind of bull was that? I was glad that Marcie acted like the lady she is and explained to Blair that she’s sorry for what’s happening, but she and Michael didn’t ask for this. That is so true. If Blair wants to point the finger, she should point it at that lunatic she just married for the third time.

Marcie did a wonderful job on the stand. Her testimony was sincere and heartfelt and Todd’s lawyer didn’t make any progress with her, especially when he mentioned that she and Michael could adopt another baby. I cheered for her when she said, “How dare you imply that any other adopted child could ever take the place of my son.” To be honest, I feel sorry for Todd’s lawyer. That poor dope didn’t have a clue what he was in for when he hooked up with a maniac like Todd Manning. He doesn’t seem to know how to dig Todd out of the hole he’s dug for himself. Of course it wasn’t too smart of Michael to get on the stand and lie about when he found out that Tommy was Todd’s son. It’s all going to blow up in his face now that Marcie knows the truth.
