REFLECTIONS BY JILL for October 2, 2006

From

Evangeline’s grief was palpable as well. It was a bit weird to see he slink down against the door to the floor in tears just like Natalie did. Renee put on a great performance as Evangeline talked about John and what he was really like behind his defenses. And of course the fact that he never let them down very often. It was interesting that Layla made the comment that it seemed like Evangeline was still in love with John and Evangeline said that she now loves Cris as much as she loved John. It doesn’t feel that way to me. There is a lot about her love for John that I don’t think she’ll ever get over.

And now Hugh is supposedly badly burned from the same accident John was in and what a surprise it is that Hugh is 100% bandaged up so we can’t even figure out whose eyes are lying in that bed. Will this be a case of mistaken identity or is it too obvious? Will it be Hugh’s body that was really found at the crash site and John lying in that hospital bed? Well, of course!

I wonder how much of that poor guys flailing was pain and how much of it was John trying to tell someone who the heck he was. And in reading a few spoilers I saw that “Hugh” is going to have a violent reaction to Spencer’s visit. It sure makes sense that John would last out at a visit from Spencer. Another thing to think about is the fact that people are debating over how long Michael Easton will be staying with the show. If the badly burned person in that bed turns out to be John (duh), this could be a perfect opportunity for TPTB to redo John’s face if a replacement is needed. I don’t see anyone replacing Easton, but you never know. I’m one of those fans who love John McBain and I want to see him back, with everything in tact that he had before.

Have I mentioned the fact that I love Nora being back in action as the District Attorney? I’m thrilled that she’s going to prosecute Spencer and I love the way she has just jumped in and has picked up on the inconsistencies in the story about the night Paige supposedly kill Thomas McBain on the operating table. We’ve all figured for some time that Spencer, no matter how he did it, managed to blackmail everyone into thinking they did things that he did himself. Now we know that Thomas McBain saw Spencer when he shot him and recognized him at the hospital. It’s too bad that only John is aware of that fact right now. Knowing that Nora is like a dog with a bone when she gets an idea in her head, I can’t wait for her to nail Spencer for everything.

Okay, let’s move on to Jessica. Well, she is a little bit more Tess these days than Jessica, but that’s not so bad. Actually, she’s more of Tess than I thought she’d be. She still has the best parts of Jessica, such as her love for her family, which was obvious when she ran to be with Natalie after hearing about John and then cleared away all the evidence of the celebration that Natalie had set up for John. But there is so much about Jessica that is now Tess that Antonio is obviously very uncomfortable. He didn’t like walking into Rodi’s and finding Jessica drinking with Nash, but I think what annoyed him most was that she was drinking what Tess used to drink and what Jessica would never drink. That says “Tess” in a big way.

The most blatant proof of Antonio being uncomfortable with Jessica’s Tess qualities was when she became aggressive and came on to him and he said he wanted to go to “sleep.” Hmmm, when have we ever seen Antonio want to sleep when Jessica was around? In all fairness, I can’t blame Antonio for being worried, but he was warned by everyone, including Jessica, that when she became integrated there would be things about Tess in her personality that he might find hard to deal with. He did assure her that he loved and that he could deal with it. I just don’t think he had any idea what he would be up against.
