REFLECTIONS BY JILL for October 1, 2007

From Jill Berry, for About.com

Oh, another wedding in Llanview! Isn’t that precious? NOT! I wouldn’t go so far as to say that I’d rather have a root canal than watch another Blair/Todd wedding, but it’s a close call. I wouldn’t believe Blair would be dumb enough to marry Todd again, but she’s no fool. She was very quick to remember that Todd gave Tea $5 million to marry him when he was trying to get custody of Starr from her and asked, “What’s in it for me if I marry you?” I guess Todd figured that she should be content just to be legally bound to a raving maniac, but she wasn’t kidding. When Blair told him, “I want the Tea Delgado” I laughed so hard because it was like she was in a diner saying, “I’ll have the #2 and hold the mayo!”

And wasn’t it just too funny when Dorian gave Blair all kinds of grief for deciding to marry Todd again saying, “What woman would be idiotic enough to marry that man”, but she quickly changed her tune and was all for the union when she realized it involved Blair getting $5 million. It’s too bad that Blair doesn’t know that Todd offered Marcie and Michael $10 million to fork over Tommy. Todd got a discount making that deal with Blair but he did get his licks in when he came to La Boulaie, got down on one knee as if he were going to give her a ring and she opened the box only to find the check she asked for. If Blair wasn’t so stupid for standing behind Todd in all this, I’d feel bad for her because she really loves him (what a fool) and deep down inside she would have loved for this to be a real marriage. It will probably turn out to be one anyway, at least for a month or two. And was Blair in her right mind when she thought she was making Todd promise to be sweet and respectful and act as if they were a devoted, loving couple? I think not. Hey, Blair told Dorian that her kids turned out so well because they had Todd for a father, so we know she’s not playing with a full deck.

At least Dorian had the good sense to take a moment to worry about what Starr and Jack would be going through. She was right on the money when she said to Blair, “Starr and Jack have been through so much because of the way you and Todd have lived your lives.” Once again, a Blair/Todd scheme comes before everything and anyone else. Dorian said it all when we all had to listen to those ridiculous vows floating out of Todd’s mouth and she whispered to Clint, “Who did he get to write that stuff for him?” The wedding was a joke and I was bored and annoyed watching it.

Honestly, I can’t say enough bad things about Todd this week, but hey, what else is new. I don’t think he has ever been as disturbing to me as he is these days. The more horribly he behaves, the more I want him to have nothing to do with Tommy. I have to say that I had forgotten some of the horrible scenes between Margaret and Todd at this point, but a fan wrote in to me and reminded me of some of the things Todd said to Margaret when he found out she was pregnant, like, “That’s a demon child” and “I hate that thing inside you.” It’s too bad that there were no witnesses to that little scene because no judge in his or her right mind would award someone like Todd custody after hearing that.

Just when I think Todd can’t do one more disgusting thing, he surprises me. It made me cringe when he showed up in Marcie’s classroom and tormented her with that air of insanity he wears so well and his awful threats. I was cheering for Marcie when she stood up to him and in that little singsong voice said, “I’m not afraid of you.” Then I got sick to my stomach when Todd leaned down and pretended to close in and kiss her. That smack in the face Marcie gave him wasn’t nearly enough. I would have given anything for a hidden video of that little altercation.

And who didn’t want to smack Brittany in that classroom for starting all the talk about Marcie and Tommy that was the catalyst for the altercation between Marcie and Starr. Poor Marcie. As if she hasn’t got enough trouble in her life, now she gets put on leave for bringing her personal life into the school.

I thought Lindsay’s confession in court was really interesting. Those flashbacks where she confronted Spencer made my skin crawl. It was hard to watch as he told her of his plan to wait until Tommy was old enough to speak before he revealed the truth so he could cry out and beg Marcie and Michael not to let Todd take him away. Boy, I can’t remember a character in all these years that has upset me more after he’s dead than when he was alive and Spencer creeped me out plenty when he was alive. At least now we know how Lindsay found out that Tommy is Todd’s son. Of course, she overheard Rex and Michael talking on the docks. There is always a lurker hanging out somewhere waiting to soak up some dirt.

So now Lindsay is in St. Ann’s for an evaluation. All I can say is that I hope those nuns have had a good rest since the last loony Llanviewite was under their roof. If they were smart, they would tell the court that there is no more room at the inn and to start sending the criminals somewhere else. And let’s face it; Nora is not the only one who is wondering whether or not Lindsay is faking her breakdown. There’s me and I’m with Nora. Knowing Lindsay’s past, I never put anything past her. Sure, she had a good reason for killing Spencer, but why should she go to jail for it? She confessed and now she has to save herself.

And now we know what Tess did to Jared. I can’t say I blame the guy for being furious and wanting revenge. I didn’t blame Nash for having trouble understand it at first because even though he knew Tess could make trouble, he didn’t know how she could go as far as she did with Jared. It was good that he and Jessica could finally talk about it and she could make him understand that even before he met Tess, she was a harder person than he knew.
