Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL

From

Later on when Paige went to Spencer and tried to trade information with him, telling him she’d tell him where his son was if he told her where Todd’s son was, I thought that was pretty strange. Then I thought it was totally crazy when she told him that his son was living in Llanview. Knowing that Spencer is about the shrewdest mastermind around, didn’t she think that after that “almost slip” that Hugh made at the police station Spencer could figure out who his son was? I think Paige has caused enough trouble in Llanview and sure, she did get Spencer thinking and wondering, but she really should leave the sleuthing to the cops. I will give her credit for that great one-line zinger when Spencer told her that he knew her so well and that she couldn’t have kept a secret like a child from him all those years and she said, “Oh yeah, Spencer? You know me so well? Like you knew Blair?” Oh baby, that shut him up good!

Then when the plan finally took shape and Hugh actually told Spencer he was his son in an attempt to get him to think he was on his side, I really had my doubts. I guess Spencer is really going to walk into a trap. If that is what happens, somehow I will find it hard to believe that Spencer won’t believe he’s being set up. He sure didn’t seem to buy Hugh’s story right off the bat and in true Spencer fashion said, “You’re not smart enough to be my son.” Hugh did sound convincing when he told Spencer that he wanted to help him and if there was any evidence that he killed Thomas McBain, he should get it and destroy it.

I am enjoying the fact that Jessica is having more and more of Tess’s memories and although she can’t admit it just yet, she has all those feelings for Nash that she doesn’t know how to deal with. A perfect example was when they were in the diner and she ordered the French fries exactly the way Tess used to order them. Jessica keeps telling Nash about her memories and being honest about them, and the she catches herself and tells him she can’t continue to reminisce with him about his past with Tess. I think Jessica protests just a bit too much. Now that Antonio was stupid enough to tell Claudia that he was going to propose to Jessica and she ran to tell Nash about it, it will be hard for Nash to hold out any hope at all. Not that he’s got any left, but what is he supposed to think? And what is wrong with Antonio? Is he nasty enough to have told Claudia about the proposal hoping that Nash would find out? Why would he tell anyone at all before he actually proposed to Jessica?

Did you howl with laughter as much as I did when Nash and Antonio were talking about their situation and Antonio had the nerve to lecture Nash on getting rid of his anger and resentment? Oh Lordy! Hello kettle, I’m the pot calling you black! Is he kidding? It was so arrogant of him to condescend to Nash now that he thinks he’s got Jessica and Bree all locked up in his little world. I just wanted to smack him when he stood there and hammered it into Nash that he had to answer to him because Jess and Bree live with him and Nash would have to answer to him about seeing his daughter. I think it’s going to be a long, hard fall for Antonio and he’s going to have to eat a lot of his words.

And poor Roxy, rushing to the hospital when she heard about Rex being shot. Natalie sure couldn’t console her when she was so upset about her baby boy, stressing the fact to Natalie that Rex “has her generics.” The scene where Roxy sees Rex and tells him she loves him was very sweet. I love seeing Roxy once in a while when she’s for real and not half potted on booze.

What about Nora telling Evangeline that she thinks she has feelings for RJ? That ought to be interesting. Hey, who would mind a good old battle between Lindsay and Nora for old times’ sake?

And speaking of Evangeline, I enjoyed the love scenes between her and Cristian, but I am still very uncomfortable about how stubborn he is when it comes to trusting her when it shouldn’t matter what Todd does as long as he knows it’s him she loves and not Todd. I can understand a little jealousy, but I thought it was ridiculous that Evangeline resorted to the physical way of dealing with him when she couldn’t get through to him by talking. I’m sure to get bashed for this comment, but even though I like Cristian and Evangeline together, that whole scenario reminded me too much of the way John and Evangeline used to block out their differences with sex. Okay, come at me, I expect it. I’m all for Cristian and Evangeline having an active and sexy physical relationship, but nothing was solved and Cristian wouldn’t even let Evangeline talk afterwards when she wanted to. Can’t help it; I didn’t like that. And for the life of me, I will never be able to see Evangeline as the “Yo, Adrienne” type, hanging around the boxing ring.
