Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL

From Jill Berry, for About.com

FAN FEEDBACK, CONT. Kelly writes: “You mentioned that you don’t see romantic sparks between Todd and Evangeline. As far as that goes, it is just you. Yes, I am one of those ever grown Todd/Evangeline fans that are popping up. But even Cristian himself can see there's more than Todd and Evangeline are letting on. Cristian doesn't like the fact that she's friends willingly with Todd. As for Todd still in love with Blair, it's more like he still loves her and always will have some feelings for her. She is the mother of his kids. But the 'in love' thing died on the table with him. Even the actors, Renee Goldsberry and Trevor St. John, think it would be fun to see about Todd and Evangeline. A lot of us are boycotting (mainly because of the Cristian/Evangeline sex scene). And with already low ratings, maybe they'll take notice.”

Dear Kelly: Just as you see more between Todd and Evangeline that I do doesn’t mean that it is just me who sees it that way. Let’s be serious here. I think that it is possible down the line, if Todd exhausted all possibilities of getting back together with Blair, he could love someone else. Todd was right when Starr asked him if someone could love more than one person and he said he guessed it was possible because Viki did. What I can’t understand is how anyone could possibly think that Todd is no longer “in love” with Blair. Every single move he has made has been so obviously the move of a man who still desperately loves the woman. Do you think he made love to her so passionately the other day just for spite? He made her promise not to let Spencer touch her again. Come on, even if he does think he has some feelings for Evangeline, at this point they are more from gratitude than romance. And as far as Evangeline goes, she has already told him that she knows he’s still in love with Blair and she loves Cristian. As far as boycotting goes, I’d say if you want to get noticed for not watching the show, you probably need to have at least 1,000,000 people behind that effort to affect ratings and I don’t see that happening. There are at least as many people or more who want Evangeline with Cristian and the mail I received with raves about the love scenes was proof of that.

Jamie writes: “I am amazed that Antonio still catches so much grief from you about his temper. He is not allowed to get angry anymore? That is not fair. I think he keeps it under control quite well. There were many times lately, IF I was him, I would have gotten really angry at certain people. By the way, I totally agree with you about Clint and Dorian.”

Dear Jamie: I defended Antonio for the longest time, even when his temper sent him over the line many times. But my problem with Antonio started when Jessica’s DID problem surfaced. From the beginning he seemed to be so preoccupied with getting Nash out of the picture that it seemed to me like Jessica’s feelings and welfare came second. Sure, he had a right to be jealous and protective of Jessica, but there was no middle ground for him. He tried to start trouble with Nash at every turn when Nash was the one behaving like a gentleman. I can’t say I blame Nash for getting to the point where he decided not to play so fairly. And I really object to the fact that Antonio wants to rub Nash out of the picture where baby Bree is concerned. Nash is that baby’s father and after his battle with RJ for custody of Jamie, Antonio should be more understanding of Nash’s feelings. Sure, it’s hard to deal with the threat of someone taking away the woman he loves, just like Todd’s feelings about Spencer, but in the end it’s going to be about what’s best for Jessica, no matter what she decides.
