Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL

From Jill Berry, About.com Guest

And wasn’t that little rally for Cristian’s upcoming fight just a bit silly? I mean, come on! Is it realistic for Evangeline to be standing in Angel Square chanting VE-GA, VE-GA? I don’t think so. And while Vincent is laughing his butt off over how much money he’s going to make when Cristian gets beaten, Cristian ignores Michael’s warning that if he fights he could lose the use of his hand for good. Very smart, Cristian! I don’t have any patience for this storyline at all and although I really like Evangeline and Cristian together romantically, this boxing garbage is ruining it for me.

And in closing, I had a huge laugh this week in the face of everything that was going on. Did you see the scene where Bruce brought Adriana that cup of coffee and she hauled off and swatted it out of his hand? How stupid was it that he just bent down and picked up the coffee, in tact with the lid still on? There’s no way that that coffee wouldn’t have burst out of that cup and splashed all over the walls. That was a big oops on the part of the prop department. They should have filled the cup and let it rip. It made a very serious scene laughable.

All in all it was a great week. Spencer is in jail for now. Jessica is going to be a new person that I am very anxious to get to know. And Dorian, well, for Dorian it’s just a matter of time before she is toppled yet again with her latest hair-brained scheme. I love it!

See ya next week.

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Brandy writes: “The August 22nd scenes between Cristian and Evangeline further cemented their status as one of daytime's best couples. Everything from the art direction to the realistic writing was simply divine. Being the romantic man he is, Cristian set the proper tone for his and Evangeline's first lovemaking experience by beautifully decorating his loft with flowers, candles and his [own] artwork. Once Evangeline allowed her love for Cristian to take precedence over her fears, the following scenes were, in my opinion, the best lovemaking mosaic I've ever witnessed on a daytime soap. Renee Goldsberry and David Fumero are both sensational to look at and compliment each other beautifully on the screen. I'd like to give a huge 'thank you' to the writers and actors involved with the Cristian and Evangeline love story because it's been absolutely breathtaking to watch unfold.”

Dear Brandy: Lots of people agree with your assessment of the love scenes between Cristian and Evangeline. I enjoyed watching them, too. I can’t actually say that they were the best love scenes I’ve ever witnessed on daytime television. I have others in mind that tugged at my heart a lot more, but they were lovely scenes. You could feel the real connection between Cristian and Evangeline every minute. I’m only sorry that as I watched those scenes my mind was wandering to all the obstacles that will probably be coming up for these two in the form of Cristian’s boxing career. No doubt if Todd’s problems with Blair continue, he will probably be more involved with Evangeline, but I don’t see a future in that.
