Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL

From Jill Berry, for About.com

Okay, I could talk about Spencer’s arrest all day. It makes me that happy! But we’ll move on and hope that the case against him sticks. I’m sure I will have many moments of unhappiness when Spencer’s lawyers start ripping away at the prosecution’s case.

Moving on, I was again annoyed with Kelly last week when Kevin showed up and she told him she didn’t want to be found. Again, she should never have called and worried him if she didn’t want him to look for her. I couldn’t believe that she asked the doctor to have him removed but luckily he was able to get through to her when he told her that he knew she ran away because she needed to feel safe and assured her that he would do everything he could to make her feel that way. Some say that Heather Tom will be leaving the show and that Dan Gauthier’s recent release from the show will set the stage for Kevin and Kelly to go away together. I hope they both somehow stay.

I really liked all the scenes revolving around Jessica’s therapy session and her move towards integration. Bree Williamson’s performance was terrific when Jessica confronted Dr. Snyder and told him how he hurt and damaged her and so many other children. It was great to see her get all of that out in the open and finally confront all of her demons.

Jessica’s session with Dr. Jameson and everything leading up to it were great scenes. I have said it before and I will say it again. My heart just keeps going out to Nash. If anyone is getting jerked around in this crisis, it is Nash, especially when Jessica spoke to him privately and told him that no matter what happened she would come out of this integration loving Antonio (as if she knows that for a fact) and that she doesn’t love him and wants him to realize that he’s lost Tess. I guess it’s too hard for Jessica to admit the depth of her feelings for Nash. It upsets her too much when she dreams about him and remembers Tess’s feelings for him. I felt sorry for the poor guy when she told him she wanted him at the session, then after being upset about dreaming of him she told him she didn’t want him there. I liked the fact that he showed up with the baby at Llanfair and at that point I was glad that Jessica realized he deserved to be there. It is so obvious that Jessica has feelings for Nash. She speaks to him in a very loving way and she always feels terrible when she has to say things that hurt him.

The scenes where Jessica relived what happened to her in that house and the way as a grown up she tried to deal with the situation were amazing. I really liked the scenes where Jessica wanted to curl up and let Tess take over and Tess convinced her they could get on with their life together. I thought the scenes were wonderfully scripted and acted and I think the payoff is going to make this storyline worth the wait we had for a resolution.

Oh, and we can’t forget about Dorian, can we? Of course she doesn’t want to put up the money to get Adriana back. What’s the value of a daughter or any of “her girls” when it comes to money? These are the times when I just hate even looking at Dorian. She stands there blaming Rex for everything when she masterminded this whole fiasco and then she proves that money is more important to her than anything else. Adriana was so right when she told Bruce that her mother’s priorities, in order, were money, her reputation and then family, which comes in a distant last. I heard that Adriana is going to really stick it to Dorian when she comes back home and I can’t wait to see her do it. Dorian was more upset that Clint caught her in cahoots with Rex than she was about Adriana’s situation. And I had a good laugh at Clint when he arrived at Llanfair and Viki mentioned Dorian. I loved it when Clint said he didn’t want to talk about Dorian and Viki had that “cat that ate the canary” look on her face when she said, “Oh my, what did she do now?”

I know the Todd/Evangeline fans won’t like it, but hey, what else is new? I like Todd and Evangeline being good friends. No matter what direction they take in the near future, I don’t see them being a romantic couple. I like them the way they are. Evangeline doesn’t let Todd get away with anything. When it appeared to Todd that she was siding with Blair, she was very smart to point out that no matter what has happened, he loves Blair as much as he ever did and that he has plenty of responsibility for what happened between them. It was brilliant when Evangeline pointed out to Todd that he’s acting like after all he’s been through, Blair is no longer good enough for him. Todd can only smirk because he knows that Evangeline has his number. She’s probably the best friend he’ll ever have next to Viki because she doesn’t let him get away with anything. I love that.
