Now we begin to see the unraveling of the lives of Marcie and Michael McBain, not to mention their innocent little boy, Tommy. I dont know who is more to blame for this situation but I have to say that although I love the guy, Michaels silence is the reason for this mess. I blame him most. I also think it was very wrong for Michael to put John in the position of saving his family when he knows that he forced John into an impossible decision that John would have a lot of trouble living with. I know that Michael kept the secret of Tommys paternity because he loves his family so much and couldnt bear the thought of breaking Marcies heart, but if he would have faced the truth head on when he first found out that Todd was Tommys father, he wouldnt have ruined his and Marcies chance of adopting other children in the future. And although the truth was going to break Marcies heart no matter what, at least she would have had the hopes of having other children some day. Now she will have the truth detonated in her face and will have to deal with losing Tommy and not being able to adopt more children at the same time, not to mention the fact that Michael has been keeping the secret all this time even though she begged him to confide in her. There cant be a good outcome to this mess.
And what about Lindsay? Lets face it; even though she did what she did to protect and preserve Marcies family and no one wants to see them hurt, Lindsays actions have to make one question her sanity. I would be the last one to care if somebody bumped off Spencer and I did, in fact, cheer when he was removed as one of the major annoyances in my day, but Lindsay didnt do Marcie and Michael any good by coming up with that solution.
Id still like to find out how Lindsay found out the truth in the first place and let me just say that she did one of the things I hate on soaps by keeping quiet while Marty sat in jail for a murder she didnt commit. I could have smacked Lindsay when John confronted her, still couldnt get her to confess and let her have it for letting Marty sit in jail, and she just sat there and said, Marty never would have been convicted. Thats a disgusting attitude to take. Martys life and her sons life were turned upside down while Lindsay was protecting Marcie and Michaels family. I guess it didnt matter to her that if Marty were somehow convicted, Cole would have no one.
Look at what all of this deceit and insanity has done to Marcie. She spent last week running around Llanview like a maniac. She went crazy on Nora at the police station for no good reason. It was crazy of Marcie to accuse John of arresting someone for murder for his own personal reasons. Thats just not John. It was totally unfair of her to accuse John of just going after Lindsay to get Marty off the hook. And when she went to Todd and gave him all that information so that he could slam John in The Sun, even I wanted to smack Marcie and I have always loved her character. When she went home and gloated about the article coming out in the paper that would slam John she was way over the top.
One can only assume that if Marcie reacted the way she did to Lindsays arrest, she will no doubt lose her mind when she finds out the truth about Tommy. I am told that Marcie will take Tommy and run from Llanview when Todd is awarded custody of his son and I would expect no less from her at this point.
And then we have Michael who is insanely running around trying desperately to keep his secret. Frankly, I was shocked that John finally decided to keep the secret about Tommy. I guess when it came down to it he just couldnt break his brothers heart. But no one was wiser than John when Michael was celebrating finally getting the monkey off his back and he warned him that the secret would come out because they always do. I think John would have liked for a hole to open up in the ground and swallow him up when Natalie walked into his office and told him that Miles gave Blair the proof about Tommys paternity and she was headed over to give Todd the news. I guess Michael will get about three minutes of celebration before the roof crashes in on him. This guy has been digging himself a grave for a long time and he might as well just jump right on in at this point.
And what about Rex and Adriana? Those two are in this up to their necks and when the truth comes out, Bo is going to know that this is the big secret Rex has been keeping all this time. Will Bo have mercy on him? Will Adriana get away unscathed?
Let us not forget Miles, for whom the writers are working very hard these days. Obviously, they are trying to redeem him and not doing too bad a job, except for the fact that he has done some awful things that are far worse than keeping the secret about Tommy. He nearly got Todd killed and then nearly killed him with his own hands. He could have gotten Marty killed or badly hurt when he arranged to have her carjacked and lets not forget that he is still denying having any connection to Hunter when Miles was the one who hired Hunter in the first place to set up Todds kidnapping in Chicago and keep him drugged up. We dont even know yet what kind of shady connections Miles has when it comes to the drugs he got his hands on (and plenty of them) to keep Todd close to death. Maybe Hunter was a drug dealer, too. Natalie may be dumb enough to defend him, but Im not that easy to convince and I nearly gagged when she had the nerve to tell Marty and Cole that she knows what Miles did was very wrong, but hes trying to change. Was Marty supposed to care?
