Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL

REFLECTIONS BY JILL for August 28, 2006

From Jill Berry, About.com Guest

Wow, the saga of Spencer is certainly heating up, isn’t it? I know he’s probably dropping dead on the inside wondering how anyone has been able to figure out anything about his plot to destroy Llanview, but he sure has a stone face on the outside no matter what is thrown at him.

I loved the scenes at the gala, from that idiotic proposal to Blair, to Todd, David and Paige blurting out all of Spencer’s dirty deeds. I wonder how embarrassed Bo would have been if he had been there to hear Paige blurt out that she delivered Margaret’s baby and helped cover it up for Spencer. Ouch! And what about Todd? He sure was ready to lay it on the line and take Viki’s advice about trying to forgive Blair. That proposal was like a knife in his heart. But it didn’t take long for him to figure out that Blair was not being honest when she said she was marrying Spencer because she fell in love with him.

I thought it was way overdue that Blair told him the truth. The scenes at the penthouse when Blair was afraid to be alone with Todd and wanted so badly to tell him the truth were awesome. You could tell how bad Blair felt when she told Todd that he was the victim and that she knew how wrong she was not to believe in him. It was really harsh when Todd realized she was working with the cops and said, “Oh, like an undercover slut.” Sure, Blair’s tactics have been horrible but as sick as her behavior has been, for her it’s all in the name of love for Todd. I think Blair could have worded her explanation better than saying, “I’ve been sleeping with Spencer to help you Todd.” The truth is bad enough; it sounded even worse put that way. But, there is something about the chemistry between Blair and Todd that somehow just never dies as far as I’m concerned. And I have to say it; as much as I bash Blair for what she’s been doing, I have to applaud Kassie DePaiva because no matter what, her portrayal of Blair in emotional pain has the ability to get me every time, just like at the execution. I could feel her pain when she tried not to cry and told Todd she had hoped he could one day forgive her, but she wasn’t surprised that he couldn’t. Their problems are in no way over after they make love and I can’t wait to see this storyline unfold.

And I loved David’s words to Spencer when he told him that he knew he proposed to Blair in front of all those people because he knew she couldn’t say no and had no choice under those circumstances without being humiliated. David was so right and when he told Spencer that he was no longer his brother, I applauded. I always hate the way Spencer tries to tell David that he protected him and took care of him all his life and good for David when he told that creep of a brother that he ruined his life.

One thing that made me laugh was when Todd got up to go into his big tirade about Spencer at the gala and Viki went up to him and said, “Todd, don’t do this!” I wish I had a dollar for every time Viki said those words just seconds before Todd caused a major scene at some big event. I love the scenes between Viki and Todd. Viki was so wise when she told Todd that what she saw when Spencer proposed to Blair was fear and utter panic, not a woman in love. Oh, if Todd would only listen to his sister more often.

I could have just slapped Spencer when Blair wanted to go to the hospital and tell Starr about their engagement before she heard it elsewhere and he didn’t want her to go. He’s pretty stupid if he hasn’t figured out yet that the one thing Blair never gives in on is the decisions she makes regarding her kids.

And I guess the old Lindsay is back. Her jealousy and disgust for Nora is back in full swing. Lindsay was crazy, getting drunk at the gala and making a scene when she saw RJ holding Nora. Come on Linz, the woman is still crippled. Give her a break! Not our Lindsay. I died laughing when Lindsay went up and planted a big old kiss on Michael right in front of Marcie to get back at Nora and RJ. Marcie’s face was priceless. Michael was speechless and not too upset, which made Marcie’s reaction even funnier. And although it was pretty silly when RJ kissed Nora in retaliation, it was pretty funny. Was Nora referring to RJ when she said she had feelings for someone she shouldn’t have? Hmmm!
