Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL for August 27, 2007

From Jill Berry, for About.com

Okay, did Lindsay really kill Spencer? It sure looks like she’s the guilty party. I think that if it’s true, then it is more than fitting that Lindsay gets the Woman of the Year award for that deed alone. But as we know, it is going to have horrible repercussions for some of Llanview’s fine citizens when the entire truth comes out. Lindsay’s speech surely explained why someone in her position, who has tragically lost a child, would do anything to keep another mother, especially someone like Marcie whom she loves, from going through the same thing. I feel sorriest for Marcie who has no clue how she is involved in this mess. Blair is going to find out the truth about Tommy and go straight to Todd. I’m not looking forward to seeing how Marcie deals with the thought of losing Tommy. We already know that Michael is so near the point of losing his sanity that he can’t even think straight. And wasn’t it just a perfect night for Marty to remember seeing Lindsay leaving Blair’s hospital room just as John was looking for proof so that he could arrest Lindsay?

Getting back to the award for a minute, I have to say that I died laughing at Nora’s speech. She was so creative when she alluded to all the times she and Lindsay spent together, using all those double entendres. I remember all too well the insanity that has been Nora and Lindsay’s history. Who could forget the food fight in Viki’s kitchen at Thanksgiving? And who could forget Lindsay totally destroying Nora’s life when she made it public knowledge that Nora had slept with Sam and gotten pregnant while married to Bo. And best of all, who could forget Lindsay going after Nora with that injection that would erase her memory of Lindsay and Colin holding her hostage while everyone thought she was dead? It had to be nearly impossible for Nora to stand up there with a straight face, but in the end, she was kind in her description of Lindsay as a devoted mother whose every action was done in loving memory of her daughter.

And what the heck is this business with Jessica packing her bags and taking Bree to London without even discussing it with Nash first? That was a Tess move if ever I’ve seen one. So she feels guilty. So it’s hard for her to hold her head high in Llanview after what she did to Antonio. I don’t see that as a reason for her to pick up, turn tail and leave town. I know that Bree Williamson has been involved in a play here in New York and probably had to be written out of the show for several episodes, but they never seem to come up with believable reasons for characters to be absent.

And it’s too bad that Adriana dislikes Nash so much on behalf of her brother, Antonio. I think Nash would make a good model for her company and he sure thought it was a good idea. I guess Adriana feels that she just got rid of a major creep like Tate and although he’s no way like Tate, she can’t stand Nash because of what happened between Jess and Antonio and she knows Antonio would never forgive her for hiring Nash.

What about Todd and Blair? Does this couple have a chance of ever getting back together? It does seem like they have figured out to some degree that they work well together as parents and as partners in crime (what a combination) but as a loving husband and wife they are really incapable of making it work. I guess that means that pretty soon they’ll be together again because if we know one thing, it is that Todd and Blair never do what’s good for them.

In conclusion, I read that there will be no prison stripes for Lindsay this time around. I think the last time she was in prison she wore slacks and a denim work shirt, but this time she will be wearing designer jeans and a “well fitted” sweater. Ah, soaps, ya gotta love ‘em!

See ya next week.
