Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL

The next hysterical point in the show was when someone asked John Paul (Rex) to do his imitation of John McBain. I guess he’s well known for imitating Michael Easton and he proceeded to crack up the entire crowd. He stood up, put on John’s pouty look, ran his hand through his hair just the way John does and starting speaking in that voice that is unique to Easton, then gave a big old sigh just like John does. The crowd laughed so hard and then Kassie asked Dan (Kevin) to do his impression but he never did. I guess Easton is fun to imitate. I would have loved to see more.

The next fan that took the mike from Kassie to ask a question was a bit strange; funny but a bit intense. She had comments for several of the actors and it went something like this: “I’m so and so from Pine Valley and Llanview.” (I know, weird already, right?) She started with Trevor and I’ll paraphrase, “Todd, when are you going to wake up and drop Blair?” Kassie took the mike and told her in a comical way to sit down and stop messing with Blair’s life and then Robin had some kind of expression on her face and the fan said, “And I haven’t even started with you yet, Dorian!” Dan jokingly reminded the fan that “This isn’t real life” and obviously to the fan it was. It was only when this fan announced that she was a postal worker that the fans and actors on stage started laughing but with shocked faces at the same time. Well, next.

One fan asked Mike Jerome how he was enjoying his new role on the show after winning the Soap Star contest and he spoke about how thrilled he was to win the part and how it was his dream. He talked about how in awe he was to be sitting up there with all the great actors and about how much he had to learn. He was a very nice young man and all the fans that met him got nice autographed photos and said he was very, very nice to talk to. We welcome him.

Needless to say, many fans mentioned wanting to see David Vickers hang around Llanview forever. No surprise there.

One fan directed her question to Hillary Smith (Nora) who was sitting next to Alexandra Neil (Paige). She asked if we were going to see Nora get back together with Bo. I think Hillary has a great sense of humor, especially when she said, “Well, I have a problem with this blonde to my left here (meaning Paige). You see, I lied to Bo once and I guess you can lie once and never get away with it, but you can lie many times and kill people and be forgiven.” It was hysterical because it was such a “Nora” thing to say and I totally agreed with her. Bo has allowed Paige more leeway than he’s ever allowed Nora, but maybe he can’t forgive Nora because he loved her more than anyone else and it hurt more than anyone else ever hurt him. Who knows?

Later on, a fan addressed Hillary again, saying that she was a long time fan and watched Hillary from the beginning and she was so happy that Nora came out of the coma because she missed her so much. Hillary was so touched she was brought to tears and she thanked everyone so much who wrote in and wanted Nora back. She said it was the fans that brought her back and she was forever grateful.

Of course, someone asked Heather Tom if Kelly’s baby was really Kevin’s and she said “You never know; those Buchanan men have really potent sperm.”

Melissa Archer was asked if Natalie and John would stay together and she answered, “Well, kinda sorta yes and kinda sorta no, but stay tuned because it gets really good.”

I laughed really hard when Jerry ver Dorn was asked about Dorian’s latest escapade and he said, “I look at it like Dorian hired a chaperone for Adriana, not a stalker.” That was very funny, but even funnier was his comment about enjoying being with Dorian because she’s the only woman in his life that has only one name. That reference to Jess/Tess and Niki/Viki was too funny.

When asked if Antonio was going to marry Jessica, Kamar replied, “Well, there is going to be an upcoming wedding, but we don’t know who Jessica will marry, Antonio or Nash.” There were plenty of Antonio fans and plenty of Nash fans.

One woman told Kristen Alderson that she thought Starr should be sent away to boarding school. Kristen, ever the little lady replied that she wasn’t sure that was a compliment and Kassie piped up and told the fan to leave her little girl alone.

When the cast was asked if they thought the fans letters and comments affected storylines, Dan said that when they get a script, they never know what influenced the storyline one way or the other, but Renee said that she definitely thinks the fans made Evangeline what she is. She said that she was grateful because the fans gave her a boyfriend, a storyline, and a sister.

Alexandra Neil informed us that the question about Paige’s son will be answered very soon and that even though the ball was dropped, it will definitely be picked up again.

A male fan addressed Tika Sumpter about Layla’s storyline and told her that if it doesn’t work out with Vincent, that he’s single.
