Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for One Life to Live for August 7, 200

From Jill Berry, for About.com

Susan writes: “I just read your most recent posting and I have to disagree with you about Todd and Cris. OK... Todd isn't a saint, but he's trying with Evangeline (more so than with anyone else I've seen in recent history). I DO have a major problem with Cris as I find him to be dominating, controlling and suffocating to Evangeline. And I think it was very profound that she said after hearing Cris's declaration of love that she's been waiting so long to hear those words. She didn't say she waited to hear those words from Cris’s, a man she has silenced several times when he tried to say those words before. Evangeline is in love with the idea of being loved - not Cris’s. Perhaps I would like to see Todd with Evangeline, but I can see that won't happen (not as long as Blair's around). But I don't think Evangeline should "settle" for Cris either. They just do anything for me as a couple.”

Dear Susan: I love it! I wonder if the Todd/Evangeline/Cristian battle will be as bloody as the John/Natalie/Evangeline battle. Gee, I hope not. We might not live through another one. In any case, I am going to state my preference and then politely duck the bullets…lol. It’s no secret that I prefer Evangeline with Cris. Yes, he has that domineering Vega macho thing going on, but only a small fraction of what his brother has, in my opinion, and I don’t think Evangeline has any problem making her feelings plainly known when Cris gets overly protective or domineering. And unlike Antonio, Cristian does not seethe…big difference for me…I can’t take that huffing and puffing any more from Antonio. I think Cris’ so-called domineering ways come out of real love for Evangeline but I think Todd’s bullying comes from the fact that it’s the only way he knows how to deal with people. Todd needs to control the situation and pay back his dear friend, but again, his heart still lies with Blair. I think you shortchange Evangeline by saying that she is in love with being loved. She’s one woman who knows her mind and her heart and she didn’t want Cristian to say he loved her before because she was dealing with being blind and at the time couldn’t see someone wanting her out of love and not just out of pity. She doesn’t feel that way now.
